Welcome to Valhalla Tajae Smiling face with horns

Sharpe posted 26/335/4 in 2019. Zero drops on 38 targets.

His best year: 2016 with 41/522/2 when he was a rookie.

He’s a 6’2” 194 lb UMass alum

That's just a smidge under Kyle Rudolph level production.

Current WR:

Thielen, Bisi, Sharpe, Bralon Addison (Oregon), Beebe, Davion Davis, Alexander Hollins, and Dillon Mitchell (Oregon).

I sure hope they give Mitchell a chance. I still believe in him. I know what I saw.

Bruce Johnson -> RE: Free Agency 2020 (3/25/2020 11:52:51 AM)

Not here, but on Twitter a guy was freaking out saying he didn't want this guy being Diggs replacement. He's not that.

Kearse signed for 1.95 with Lions. I would've liked to have him back for that.

It's a shame we couldn't keep him. That is cheap.

Zimmer trusted Sendejo more....says something. He flashed at times but wasn't consistent enough to play unless they had no other option.....great ST guy though.

Zimmer isn't always right.

Nobody is. More right than wrong about the secondary ... sure, more than a lot of people.

Was he right when he picked Waynes 11th overall or Barr 9th overall? You can make a case that he could have done a lot better than Alexander at 54th.

In hindsight, which is as broad a critique as saying that someone isn't always right.

I myself don't second guess draft picks TOO MUCH because there is so much risk involved, i.e. Treadwell and Kalil were 'good' draft picks that absolutely didn't work out. Happens to everybody. There are picks I like and don't like but you really don't know if it's a 'good' pick or not for a year or two.

Also, last I checked, Zimmer doesn't have final say on draft picks. I'm sure he has major input through the process into the 'final consensus' that Spielman is always touting ... but there are others feeding their voice into that.

This is not to excuse Zimmer (or Spielman) – I have a lot of problems with Zimmer. A lot.

Heck yeah... like when the Bears drafted Bob Sapp in the 3rd. I thought he'd be a star but was a bust. Then the Vikings picked him up. He's was into boxing, kickboxing, MMA, etc.

Thanks for making me wikipedia Sapp (who I had no recollection of):

"He spent two seasons with the Vikings and only played in one game. Afterwards, Sapp was left in poverty due to his economic advisor having committed fraud on him, and was forced to work at a funeral home moving coffins to make his living. He eventually decided to pursue a career in professional wrestling by advice of his friend Mike Morris, who saw a chance for Sapp on it."

That blurb alone is worthy of a Netflix mini-series.

*All this time I thought you had to have a specific knack or something to work in a funeral home. Forced coffin-moving labor is just wrong.

It would be a good series! Also, I just skimmed it but I think Wiki said he'd intentionally lose matches in the first round, maybe if the common joe wants to shell out $ to 'beat' him or something.

Per the NFL's internal cap report, 10 teams with least space as of this AM.

1. Chiefs $555K
2. Patriots $2.80M
3. Saints $9.02M
4. Steelers $10.64M
5. Falcons $14.28M
6. Packers $14.80M
7. Cardinals $15.71M
8. Ravens $17.42M
9. Niners $19.49M
10. Rams $19.65M

Don't know what some of those Chiefs contracts look like, but when Mahommes re-ups $555K is going to be -$39.45M.

I think he's signed his tag - no idea what his cap hit is maybe 14M, but I'm guessing its factored.

I'm talking about when he REALLY signs. Tried to present the numbers to make it obvious.

This is the phase of FA where Rick Spielman does his best work. Nothing flashy or game-changing, but tons of value.

Still, not that much cap to work with.

you'd think that we'd offer aldrick robinson a minimum contract...17-231-5 in 2018...i bet speilman offered jarius wright a low-ball deal....

Didn't he have a 2 or 3 sack game against us when he played for DET?

kgdabom -> RE: Free Agency 2020 (3/25/2020 1:06:30 PM)

Found on RotoWorld

Vikings signed DE Anthony Zettel, formerly of the 49ers.
Zettel, 27, will be making his seventh stop since 2016. He started last season with the Bengals before latching on with the Niners just before Christmas. Zettel even played 14 defensive snaps in the Super Bowl. He hasn't recorded a sack since notching 6.5 in 2017 with Detroit.

He will have to compete with Eddie Yarbrough whom I believe the Vikings are quietly pretty high on. We'll see.

It's a one-year, $1 million deal of which $675,000 is guaranteed, including a $175K signing bonus. Max $1.5M with incentive. Solid deal for Tajae Sharpe in a tough WR marketplace and low-risk addition for the #Vikings. https://twitter.com/RapSheet/status/1242835418963468296

bohumm -> RE: Free Agency 2020 (3/25/2020 3:10:15 PM)

With the contract terms, I like the deal. Initially thought he might be signing for Perriman money, which had me on the verge of a cerebral vascular accident.

It could be worse, but I hate all the guaranteed money. what if he is beaten out by our two or possibly 3 WR draft picks along with Thielen, Bisi and whoever. We would then be paying him for nothing.

kgdabom -> RE: Free Agency 2020 (3/25/2020 3:56:45 PM)

Which player should we consider the more significant addition of Sharpe, Zettel and the XFL Line Backer. I'm pretty confident that Pierce is the most significant FA signing.

So now you're more on the verge of a venereal vascular accident.

KG you have your hopes too high for Mitchell....Hollins, Sharpe, CFL guy, and Beebe are all above Mitchell for the 4th/5th spots.

Thielen
Draft Pick
Bisi
Sharpe
Draft pick/Hollins/CFL guy/Beebe

Not real sure that Sharpe isn't better than Bisi either.

"all" the guaranteed money? Except for Thielen he is vastly more experienced than our little collection of misfits.

That just tells you somebody else offered him something ... or we've had a crush on him since he abused us three years ago. The non-gaurantee worthy guys are available 24 hours, 12 months out of the year.

Always on the low road. I think he was talking about a 'smart' vascular accident.

I don't think much of Sharpe. I could easily see three WR draft picks beating him out along with Thielen, Bisi and one of our current stable of sucky WRs. How many WRs are we likely to carry? Hopefully we still draft at least 2 WRs that would be better than Sharpe.

joejitsu -> RE: Free Agency 2020 (3/25/2020 5:12:07 PM)

I think that Pierce is the best add for us, so far. He can stuff up the middle and eat up the run game. We should draft a dt who can collapse the pocket, and our line should be good.

Is he better than Mitchell? [&:]

675k isn't much guaranteed. I like the signing - had a solid rookie season. Injury then didn't do much, but I like having someone with experience ie Jarius Wright. Titans make us look like a pass happy offense.

EDIT: Someone already beat me to the Mitchell comment.
