ORIGINAL: Phil Riewer Bowers? With the Patriots Thank you. I was wondering about him. I liked him. I guess his replacement is this guy. He is our other guy for a cheap contract at DE. https://www.ourlads.com/nfldepthcharts/player/39875/ Also, Stacy Keely Hasn't Keely been on the practice squad like forever? What do the coaches see in him? Curious? I think just last year. But, I could be wrong. Keely is tall. 6'6" or 6'7". He's added about 20 lbs, hopefully of muscles since he came out of college. He's been a developmental player, but there must be something in him to gather the interest of several NFL teams. We have a good record of identifying diamonds in the rough and polishing them here. He's a long shot, though. He's always been a long shot, but he hasn't given up. You have to give him credit. I like to root for players like that. I agree Bruce....Love players like that. Just have not heard much about his potential, although it has got to be a good sign he stays on, while others "come and go" continueously I've never seen one of the XFL games. but that would be one of the appeals- to watch players who love the game and are hungry to make it to the big league. Baseball minor leagues must be like that. At the end of the pre-season I always sweat out about who makes the final roster spots. Maybe I shouldn't care about them so much because largely they don't impact the wins and losses, but I take interest in those players. Last year I was especially interested in Davion Davis, the wide receiver out of Sam Houston State. He hardly even had a chance to play in the pre-season, but still I took interest in him and rooted for him when he finally got into a game. I was happy when he made the practice squad. I'm similar. I can enjoy a season even when the team is bad IF there are guys on the team you think have talent might develop into something. I watched some XFL and saw a number of former Vikings... sadly, the XFL QBs were pretty bad and that killed a lot of the enjoyment for me. On a tangent... someone interviewed Kyle Sloter about his time in MN. It basically came down to something like he'd get 8 snaps(I don't remember exactly but definitely single digits) a practice as 3rd QB. How can the NFL not have a better way to develop QBs?!?!??! It seems like there is a bit of a glut at the moment but how many years did 1/2 the teams lack a legit QB. It seems insane that a guy is going to make any progress getting basically no reps during the year. I have to say... one thing Denny Green did was plug in just about any QB and make things work. Mannion over Sloter? don't get it..however, supposedly he is like a coach in the qb room sooooo there's that[:-]
