If only he hadn't squirted that ref.

Which is irrelevant and a baseless opportunity to get a dig in at Moss.

xavier rhodes had a pick 6 several years back, where he was clocked at around 25mph....

I'm going to need a link for that.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2022/01/28/tyreek-hill-fastest-player-in-nfl/

"In the 2016 season, (Tyreek) Hill notched the fastest speed NGS has recorded for a ballcarrier when he hit 23.24 mph on a kickoff return. San Francisco 49ers running back Raheem Mostert, who suffered a season-ending knee injury in Week 1 this season, posted the second-best speed of 23.09 in 2020, and Hill also holds the third spot with a time of 22.77 mph in another 2016 game."

22.4 MPH for Rhodes

jbusse cleaning up all the speed-related loose ends!

marty -> RE: General Vikes Talk (10/18/2022 10:28:49 AM)

Wow Todd, didn't know Mostert was that fast, I thought it was most his great vision and quickness that made him so good a few years ago.

marty -> RE: General Vikes Talk (10/18/2022 10:29:34 AM)

What does a 4.15 forty time mean for mph, what does it translate to ?

I don't think it's that simple. Look at how long it took Bolt to get to top speed. I'm sure you can maybe make some guesses.

Richard Neussendorfer -> RE: General Vikes Talk (10/18/2022 11:10:34 AM)

According to GNU units:

40 yards / 4.15 s = 19.715225 miles/hour

So you would need to average just under 20 miles per hour. Given you are starting at a dead stop, you would probably need to top out at around 23–24 miles per hour at the finish line to make 4.15 seconds.

That's definitely a sign of good coaching. 👍

David F. -> RE: General Vikes Talk (10/18/2022 12:03:37 PM)

Oh boy we're only behind the Bills, Eagles, and Chiefs. I prefer it when they rank us way lower.

4. Minnesota Vikings (5-1)

Week 6 ranking: 4

There was widespread skepticism that coach Kevin O'Connell would have the team physically ready for the start of the season after a unique summer driven by sports performance theories. Key players saw little to no preseason action, despite a schematic overhaul, and there were only a handful of intensely physical practices. But not only were the Vikings ready to open 5-1, but 21 of their 22 starters have made every start. The only exception was safety Harrison Smith, who missed one game because of a concussion. -- Kevin Seifert

David F. -> RE: General Vikes Talk (10/18/2022 12:07:26 PM)

Hahahahahahaha The road will be clogged with all the bandwagon jumpers who will suddenly be Bills, Eagles, and/or Chiefs fans.

14. Green Bay Packers (3-3)

Week 6 ranking: 8

Oh, if there were only one thing. On offense, the Packers have the lowest six-game point total in any six games of Aaron Rodgers' career. Even without Davante Adams, this was not the expectation because of guys like Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon. The defense, loaded with first-round picks and high-priced free agents that had everyone projecting them as a top-tier defense, still can't stop the run. And even the special teams that looked vastly improved reverted Sunday and had both a field goal and a punt blocked. That's how an overwhelming division favorite can recede to mediocrity so quickly. -- Rob Demovsky

nfl.com also ranks us #4

Minnesota Vikings
Minnesota Vikings
5-1
Previous rank: No. 7

Minnesota isn't anybody's idea of a juggernaut, but five wins in six games -- picked off only by the undefeated Eagles -- tells the story of a team that knows how to close. The Vikings did it again on Sunday in Miami, forcing a huge turnover as the Dolphins were marching toward the go-ahead score; then Dalvin Cook found a crease for the long touchdown run to ice the game. "It's very much the inverse of 2021," said Kirk Cousins, invoking the salty ghosts of the Mike Zimmer era. "I would walk off of the field after a loss and say: 'Man, we're playing so well. We're playing so well!' Somehow, some way, we lost. This year, it's, 'Gosh, we can play better.' But we win. I'll take this any day."

Me too Kirk.

marty -> RE: General Vikes Talk (10/18/2022 12:22:10 PM)

KOC seems VERY likeable to me. I wonder if that is part of them being the least penalized team.

I hope to see an aggressive defense EVERY week, not 4 weeks of non-aggression, followed by one week of focussing on more aggression.

That's the best thing I can remember him saying.

Regardless of the 'go with the flow' persona ... I like it a lot.

We may not be playing at a BUFF, KC, PHI level ... but they didn't get to that over night ... which is essentially where we are.

I still have doubts about the def talent level, QB and IOL but the in-game management by the coaching staff has been impressive. Against some other teams with much more mature systems.

Even if we look bad at times ... we've reduced key mistakes, been opportunistic at the right time ... seen glimpses of the very good ...

Kind of a gestalt thing ... the pieces don't always impress, the game result doesn't always impress ... but the 5-1 looks by design, not by luck.

Still quite surprising to me. Rhodes was never a speed merchant.

Rhodes is #4, Diggs at #3 also.

2016 Fastest

Ouch, stats to back up some uneasy feelings:

Most 10+ Yard Plays Allowed,
on Defense,
thru Week 6:

Vikings (93)
Falcons (90)
Cardinals (89)
Lions (88)
Steelers (86)
Texans (84)
Browns (83)
Ravens (82)

Add to that we've gone from worst to best in giving up points at the end of halves and it speaks volumes to the positive culture change.
