Most of these guys don't get to play for their favorite team. I'm afraid if I say no to Murray, he'll go on to win the super bowl with the team he signs with but damn, I don't think he's really that good.

Todd M -> RE: General Vikes Talkk (3/12/2026 6:50:05 AM)

I think Murray only makes sense bc our need matches his unique availability and cost - with our eyes elsewhere in 2027.

Unless he goes 14-3

I jumped to this page and at first glance I thought you were Brad. [:-]

Bill Johanesen -> RE: General Vikes Talkk (3/12/2026 8:04:03 AM)

Murray is supposed to visit the Vikings today then have zoom calls with a couple of teams. Zoom calls, really? In a way that suggests yeah I'm going to sign with Minnesota.

.
EAGAN, Minn. — The Vikings on Wednesday announced a post-June 1 release of safety Harrison Smith.

The procedural move, which spreads a cap hit over two seasons, does not indicate where Smith is at in his decision of whether to return for a 15th season in Minnesota.

From the NFL Operations Manual, "Teams are allowed to release two players prior to June 1 (but on or after the first day of the League Year) while still using this designation and getting the same cap treatment. However, the cap savings created by a June 1 designation do not take effect until after June 1."

Yeah, read that if they kept him a few more days he'd get $25 million guaranteed. So they released him to avoid that and it gives him time to see if he wants to play another season.

Cap wise, 2026 and 2027 are void years with I think $12 million in dead money spread across those years.

I read he was doing zoom calls with teams yesterday to lay some groundwork for next year, get a feel for future interest.

Total mercenary. I’m sure he’ll play hard, its a contract year, but a one year deal is a stopgap situation for him as well as us.

I could care less if he was a fan of this team as a kid, means very little.

Oh well, he’s capable of playing better than a lot of the drifters and nomads we’ve had shuffling through here for the last forever.

Exorcism, decapitation, plague … there’s a lot of ways to insult but you went straight for the vicious death blow.

I can't believe the Colts gave Danny dimes $88 mil for a year and a half

he is not going to be available for about half of 26, and how good will he be for the rest of the year?

that's nuts to me.

1.3 mil on Murray is such a steal!

Hope we keep him away from the Steelers for 2 reasons...

Aaron Rodgers and Kirk Cousins

one of those 3 are gonna be our starter

I can’t do either one of those..
Two options that would end my interest..
Wasteof time and money, my time, teams time, teams money..

I’d rather we drafted the worst rookie in Division 1A..
And started him day one..

Tom Sykes -> RE: General Vikes Talkk (3/12/2026 9:29:02 AM)

Sorry. Maybe I’ve spilled too far over to the dark side. A severe case of roomis igloomis.

We’re a getting a killer deal for one year on a player that is better - at times much better - than the players we have spent bazillions on.

Let’s see what happens. [course correction complete]

And at $1.3 million he's a steal. We now have some immense contracts in 2027 and 2028 so definitely don't need to add to that by signing and backloading cap for some QB who isn't going to move the needle.

In six months people are going to be excited when Murray trots out for game 1. The Wilfs will be high-fiving each other as they view the crowd in another sold-out game.

Bill Johanesen -> RE: General Vikes Talkk (3/12/2026 9:39:31 AM)

I've got Murray and Harrison Smith penciled in lol. So starter wise, in a 'if the season started tomorrow' scenario, it looks like C is the biggest need. Maybe DE. #3 WR is up there. Need a P too.

Tom Sykes -> RE: General Vikes Talkk (3/12/2026 9:47:22 AM)

I think if we sign Murray … sign or draft or trade for a c, dt, iol, cb, s, wr, rb

we’ll all be fired up to see how things come together.

throw in a gm at some point and away we go.

Don't bet on it. The last time we had a quarterback that was 14-3 you people couldn't wait to run him out of town.

Murray is a bum. He's just a little better version of a bum than McCarthy. Anything over about $10-million a year is overspending. His body has started to break down. His greatest asset when he was first in the league was his legs. With a few injuries it's just a matter of time before his agent is in his ear telling him to stop running.

He's also not a great teammate or leader, which may be more important than anything.

Did we run Colt McCoy out of town?

Wasn't your eval on him to be a HOF QB?

Why listen to your take now any any player?

If Murray were going to be here more than one year, I would focus on C hobbit-types … short squatty for Kyler to climb up on, with hairy feet, constantly exchanging loving looks back at their qb like Sam and Frodo.

Since we’re building for the long term, I go with the bigger smellier uraq-hai types.

I think you have me mistaken with someone else. You gotta be better than that. It's very Trumpian to just make stuff up.

Tom Sykes -> RE: General Vikes Talkk (3/12/2026 10:13:19 AM)

Seems kind of quiet.

Maybe our new GM excel spreadsheet team need some acclimation to write up a 1.3M standard contract.

Get er done so we can move forward with whatever it is we have.

Murph -> RE: General Vikes Talkk (3/12/2026 10:14:13 AM)

To be fair that was my memory so I may be misremembering the qb who you liked and busted but for the love of God don't associate anything I say with Adolph "Pedophile" Trump.

I do remember you endorsing Maurice Edward Clarett and said Adam Thielen was a bum and should be selling sunglasses

The mistake is it is a team sport for you until a USC QB is involved........everyone knows it.
