With a disclaimer for you Bill, yes.

I am a forgiving person, but I don't know if you'll ever gain back my respect, I have lost respect for you.

Awesome. I'll wear that Badge of Honor proudly.

Psychopath. But in a good way.

While I have almost completely lost respect for you Bill, I do enjoy many of your posts, just not usually the parts where you are goading people.

Make up your mind. You had just said you lost respect for me.

Let's go with the original.

Hoping the team addresses obvious needs at CB, probably S, C if Kelly is done, etc is a "group thing... small minded."

Fabricating a need at relatively stocked positions like RB, WR, etc and advocating for this imagined need literally for days is "advanced thinking."

There you have it.

It is amazing.

Well, said "advanced thinker" has suggested many times over the years that the team reads these posts. WRT Breece Hall, clearly the team ignored him... or has him on block. However, they obviously read my "small minded" post about getting a CB instead. So I have that going for me. Which is nice.

The prudent thing to do (if interested) is wait until this off season when he becomes a UFA. Giving up a 3rd now would be borderline stupid.

Borderline!

So much restraint. Level-headedness.

Can you help arbitrate the govt shutdown?

LOL that was being too nice.

No GM bit on the 3rd for Hall so that alone speaks for itself. This won't stop Marty from filling another page of posts beating the mute subject to death.

marty -> RE: General Vikes Talkk (11/6/2025 11:26:11 AM)

McCarthy can suddenly turn on the seriousness, it's part of what makes him great, and he seems to be a perfectionist, laser focus.

Maybe waiting until McCarthy was completely healthy wasn't such a bad idea, and maybe it wasn't some sort of conspiracy.

It doesn't speak for anything, no team felt a strong enough need, and Kwesi wasn't as forward thinking on it, as I was.

I didn't bring it up, you did Bill. And I am not making further points about it, I am only responding to your simple criticism.

Just for the record, that was the other Bill [&:][&:]

Haven't seen one post from anyone supporting your hair-brained scheme starting with your 3:15 a.m. post about it. Dang small minded group of posters. A human mass of simpletons if you will. Same for 31 GMs.

Another RB to form some catchy named duo (originally coined by the Saints with Chuck Muncie and Tony Galbreath) is around 10th on the needs list.

Since this is the modern NFL, imagine cap instead being poured into the CB position. No catchy name needed.

But first things first for next year. SHED $36 million in cap by day one of the NFL season to comply with NFL rules.

Is that true, those two were the first to be called thunder and lightning?

Remember when Muncie was a Viking? Of course my silly ass thought it was going to be great to have Muncie on the team. Didn't quite work out.

To clarify, I meant the term was already used for them around 45 years ago.

Galbreath was the Viking.

JT2 -> RE: General Vikes Talkk (11/6/2025 11:52:11 AM)

Got it.

Yes Galbreath but also Muncie. Muncie played in a preseason game for us then retired.

"Hair-brained" ? - Pairing Mason with a RB his age is a solid idea, it's probably what they'll end up doing in the off-season, it would have been a great idea to do it now. The way Kwesi drafts, getting a talented RB like Hall for a 3rd rounder would have been a haul.

I don't care if there isn't immediate support, I am usually ahead of the curve on many things. Bill, just because you're small minded, doesn't mean the entire group here is also small minded.

Just because other GMs didn't make the Jets an offer, doesn't mean not making an offer was a good idea. The playoff teams didn't seem to have a strong enough need at RB, we'll never know if he could have helped some of the teams that fall short.

At least Hall will likely be available for Kwesi to get in FA.

Trekgeekscott -> RE: General Vikes Talkk (11/6/2025 3:19:51 PM)

I would venture to guess that the Vikings will not fork over big bucks for Breece Hall.

Just think they will prioritize other positions in FA. With Mason already on the roster and Xavier Scott showing flashes, they may look for a cheaper option to compete but not lock up a big chuck of salary cap space on a RB that hasn't been all that great....Bijan Robinson, Saquan Barkley, yeah that would make more sense. Hall isn't at that level and will no doubt want more money than he's worth.

We can use that 3rd rd pick Marty so desperately wants to give away for Hall on a RB with a rookie contract.

Clearly, the critical element of your 3:00 a.m. scenario is your endlessly repeated claimed benefits of pairing two RBs that are the same age. Not sure why that is so important but it's obviously a product of your self-proclaimed "advanced thinking". Nonetheless, it didn't seem accurate. Sure enough, Mason and Hall are two years apart age wise. So, well... poof?

Anyway glad you think you are "usually ahead of the curve". And that your standard assortment of imagined/CYA disclaimers (bolded in your paragraph) help you justify that in your mind. It's also pretty cool you know who the playoff teams are!

And barring a severe injury to Mason, I'm happy to bet you the Vikings will not sign Hall in free agency. How much shall we bet? Is there a process where someone here can hold the funds? As long as Mason is healthy throughout, I'll give you until the last day of free agency. $1000? I'll give you 2:1 odds, i.e. I pay double if I lose.

marty -> RE: General Vikes Talkk (11/6/2025 6:36:21 PM)

That is a good point Scott, you can go cheaper, and not as good with Zavier Scott.

I agree that Hall isn't on the level of Barkley, which is why the ideal is to pair Hall with a power back like Mason.

marty -> RE: General Vikes Talkk (11/6/2025 6:39:22 PM)

We can use that 3rd rd pick Marty so desperately wants to give away for Hall on a RB with a rookie contract.

There is no desperation, you have the luxury to pair Hall with Mason as they enter their prime, you have Hall as a proven commodity, instead of gambling with a 3rd round draft pick, which has pretty bad odds considering Kwesi's drafting.

Somehow you agreed with his post and simultaneously spun that into the pairing of your RB fantasy being the ideal!

Oh, you conveniently didn't address his last line: Hall isn't at that level and will no doubt want more money than he's worth. Whoops... poof!

Tom, I have made several valid points in regards to Breece Hall, your judgement of what is common sense notwithstanding, or any sort of imaginary evisceration that came from your inside your head.

You can spend days trying to cheapen my valid point, but you won't come close to being the a$$hole that is Bill, but you do show similarities to Bill in having a small mind that lacks imagination.

You and Bill are similar in that respect. [&:]

Very valid until it came to cost as in cap $$$ and draft picks.

More valid is the Vikings interest in Asante Samuel:
Sources: The #Packers and #Vikings are also scheduled to have visits with CB Asante Samuel Jr.

But #Panthers are first today, I'm told. 👇

So very valid except it didn’t make sense.

EDIT: Bringing in the best talent possible is valid. Going on for days, on a mission to push the most unrealistic option available, to the exclusion of all other options … over and over … with the single-minded ferocity of a rabid koala … gets old.

Were you around when on separate occasions Marty posted for weeks that we sign David Boston and Bernardo Harris? I asked the moderators to build a separate thread for one or both of them because his zeal for them was nonstop. The moderators did, which meant the Vikings thread was finally clear of the his rabble.

Anyway, his Hall infatuation has a long ways to go before it meets the Harris/Boston thresholds. But free agency still looms....

Hall and Mason are closer in age than Jones and Mason, thank you. It's not imagined that I am ahead of the curve, I just usually am. The non playoff teams are the ones trading players before the deadline, the potential playoff teams are the ones acquiring players, that should help you.

I would love to make a bet like that with you, but with the large pool of teams, would need much better than just 2:1 odds. Bill, I wouldn't trust you with making a bet like that, wouldn't trust you with anything financial, so don't bother.

I remember a hamster wheel discussion about both players. It might have been from the ridicule that went on ... well, to now.

I won't even name the current fixation for fear that it will perpetuate. All I can say is, he plays RB and his name rhymes with 'greased balls'.

I just want it to go away.

You pay Hall just the right amount, they always want more than they're worth, you pay for great players, line up enough players that are in their prime with bargains and some rookie contracts, you build a Super Bowl team.

My ideas aren't always good, I will admit that, and it's great that a simpleton like Bill can keep bringing up bad ideas. It's easier to not present any new ideas, stick with the obvious, and criticize anyone that has a new idea. But that is not my style, that is for simple minds like you Bill.

It's no infatuation with Hall, that is your colorful world, your made-up world. Hall was just a great idea of mine, that didn't come to fruition right now.

It is not me that keeps bringing up Hall, it's mostly Bill, and I am defending my strong position.
