Another RB to form some catchy named duo (originally coined by the Saints with Chuck Muncie and Tony Galbreath) is around 10th on the needs list.

Since this is the modern NFL, imagine cap instead being poured into the CB position. No catchy name needed.

But first things first for next year. SHED $36 million in cap by day one of the NFL season to comply with NFL rules.

Is that true, those two were the first to be called thunder and lightning?

Remember when Muncie was a Viking? Of course my silly ass thought it was going to be great to have Muncie on the team. Didn't quite work out.

marty -> RE: General Vikes Talkk (11/5/2025 11:07:21 PM)

I still haven't seen the game, but this Chase Daniel breakdown on McCarthy says Brad is already wrong about McCarthy, or that McCarthy has silenced his doubters:

It'll be a busy couple weeks for Asante Samuel Jr. He's visiting the #Panthers today. After that, it's: #Packers (Thursday), #Vikings (Friday), #49ers (Monday), #Bears (Tuesday) and #Steelers (Wednesday). A thorough, methodical process.

Is Samuel aware that it is week 10 in the NFL season?

To clarify, I meant the term was already used for them around 45 years ago.

Galbreath was the Viking.

Yet I advocated getting a CB, and look at that... we have a meeting set up with Samuel. Meanwhile, there were not and are not even rumors let alone reports of just mild interest in a RB. Because we don't need one! Especially when, and I'm treading lightly in your imaginary Breece Hall fantasy, we'd have to fork over a pick.

I know you hate being told you're wrong so I won't do that. But about you arguing for some imaginary thing, Tom was right. He used to be my sycophant as was widely known but alas he has bloomed and stands tall on his own. I'm kind of the sycophant whisperer and would train you, but you are too far gone.

Bill, I sincerely loved EVERYTHING about your response here.

It showed you did the obvious, the thing everyone else would likely advocate for, the group thing that like minded, small minded people would all agree on, getting a CB. Thinking ahead, and pairing a young RB with a perfect complimentary back that is the same age, takes a little more advanced thinking. You don't worry about money, you make it happen, it's ok to do things a different way (avoiding the overused 'thinking outside the box') when working towards a championship.

I don't like being told I am wrong, most people don't, but you have never been right about anything where you told me I am wrong. I think I am still right about this, and Hall and Mason would have been a great combo. You're wrong if you don't think I ever admit to being wrong. I have a co-worker that I have many times admitted to him that I was wrong many times, to the point now where if we have conflict or argument, I assume he is probably right to begin with, and go from there. That is not the case with you, at all.

Saying you're a 'sycophant whisperer', was quite hilarious, you say hilarious things at times. The fact that you considered teaching me, is quite flattering, and while you're saying I am too far gone to learn it from you may have some validity, it is more accurate that I really have no interest in being that way.

Back to the CB discussion, which could help this team immediately.

He's tracking fine to accrue an NFL season (6 games) and maybe isn't fully healed. The team that signs him can't expect much this year, although he could be a factor for playoff bound teams.

Bill Johanesen -> RE: General Vikes Talkk (11/6/2025 8:20:33 AM)

Fabricating a need at a relatively stocked position (RB) and advocating for this imagined need literally for days is "advanced thinking."

Posting one time that the team should instead address an obvious need at a premium position (CB) is a "group thing... small minded."

There you have it.

Well, said "advanced thinker" has suggested many times over the years that the team reads these posts. WRT Breece Hall, clearly the team ignored him... or has him on block. However, they obviously read my "small minded" post about getting a CB instead. So I have that going for me. Which is nice.

Bill Johanesen -> RE: General Vikes Talkk (11/6/2025 8:43:51 AM)

He should stick to predicting 4-5 different outcomes for a game, each with disclaimers like "if", "depending", "degree of 4th quarter ref bias", etc. Then afterwards declaring he was almost right on say the one he submitted at halftime where there was just mild bias. Or the one he submitted before the season started, etc.

If one was to mix and match his numerous predictions with each having numerous disclaimers, he probably has 75% of the scores covered for a given game yet he still can't get an exact hit.

I didn't fabricate a need, I suggested a sound way to have a great combo at RB, with guys that are similar in age.

The only one that appears needy, is you. And I love your small minded private messages, and I am sure you read my responses, even though you lie and say you don't read them. [&:]

It would have been nice to have paired Hall with Mason, but there are many different ways towards getting a SB ring, getting McCarthy was the 1st great step.

I wouldn't be surprised if the team has someone looking over things that fans have written, small minded people can't comprehend teams doing that.

My idea didn't get taken up before the trade deadline, I should have posted it sooner. Maybe the team thinks it's a better idea to just get him next year, not have to give up draft capital in a season where the Vikings aren't quite a Super Bowl contender in McCarthy's 1st year of playing. They're probably just a wildcard contender at best, so it is probably wiser to wait for the off-season, I am just not very patient when I have great ideas.

Bill, they didn't have to read your one post to consider getting a CB, that's pretty obvious to most simpletons, it's been voiced over and over in many articles, most draft articles have the Vikings taking a CB in the 1st round next draft.

Yeah I didn't want to clutter up the board. And there are automated messages informing a sender when their message(s) have been opened by someone. You'll notice you have not rec'd such messages pertaining to me.

So, all good to go. Moving on. We're at least in the mix for Asante Samuel. Which, however "small minded" that sounds to you, is a smart move desired by "simpletons" and the team.

I don't make predictions with all sorts of disclaimers. I bring out things for discussion to see what others think about different parameters, and you can have conflicting thoughts when thinking about different possibilities that could occur. I know this is hard for a small minded person like you to understand.

I have made quite a few predictions with very specific outcomes, and have had many exact hits over the years. I correctly predicted the final score of the 1998 NFC Championship game, 30-27, except I had the Vikings winning it in OT. Atlanta won it in overtime, and I even predicted the Vikings kicker, who hadn't missed a FG all season, would miss the game winner in regulation. That is exactly what happened, and a poster from Philadelphia said he remembered the prediction and yelled out my name when the FG missed. [&:]

Bill, I have the balls to make predictions and post them in the predictions thread, and you don't.

I am all for trying to improve different areas of the team, simple minded ways can help, it pleases you simpletons, and gives others hope that they're moving in the right direction.

The prudent thing to do (if interested) is wait until this off season when he becomes a UFA. Giving up a 3rd now would be borderline stupid.

Maybe it's a feature one can set. And for you it might work retroactively. If so, it will prove I delete w/o opening. Call me a liar, fine, whatever. But I haven't seen a word from your PM mailbox.

And thanks for highlighting the PM exchange, which shows you don't respect the word "Private". But I knew that going in.

marty -> RE: General Vikes Talkk (11/6/2025 11:01:15 AM)

I think picking up Breece Hall would have been a solid addition, and just a 3rd rounder would have been fine, considering how well Kwesi has been drafting.

With regards to the private messages, I don't think it would surprise many people in this forum if you lied about this sort of thing. I don't know if I have ever brought up a private message in a thread for all to see, I have respected it for everyone else. You lost my respect a long time ago, you have been very disrespectful towards me in many instances.

If Jones is hurt, any interest in getting a much younger, similar back to him in Breece Hall for a 3rd rounder?

marty -> RE: General Vikes Talkk (11/6/2025 11:08:11 AM)

I posted a very specific prediction on September 5th, I guess I should have highlighted so some simpleton that can't differentiate between a prediction and discussion about the topic could hone in on what the prediction entailed.

It was my prediction for the Super Bowl this year, and I had the Vikings over the Ravens. This week we will get what might end up being a Super Bowl preview.

Borderline!

So much restraint. Level-headedness.

Can you help arbitrate the govt shutdown?

marty -> RE: General Vikes Talkk (11/6/2025 11:10:36 AM)

Yes, it was posted before the trade line, it was a little too close to the deadline, I was still hoping the Vikings would have made that move.

I didn't have "many" subsequent posts on it, I just responded to a few naysayers.

Don't worry, you have plenty of time to post alternative SB predictions. Not sure why you go to such extremes with predictions (multiple, disclaimers, etc) but to each his own. Maybe so you can chest thump if you ever get one right, I don't know. Or post that you were close, I don't know. I don't find the attraction to do so, but do understand 'normal' predictions can be fun, are widespread, a part of sports, etc.
