David, you have me wondering if I am just communicating things poorly here, where people are misunderstanding my points. I should probably stop assuming someone is being an a$$hole when they misinterpret what I am saying.

Maybe Bill was NOT being an a$$hole earlier, and I just communicated my point poorly. If that is the case, then I owe Bill an apology as well.

I have said that I think it's possible the Vikings organization has someone (or several people) that monitor sites like this to get a beat on what fans might be thinking. I never said that I believed KOC was personally looking at our site. It's possible some of the information got to him, through someone that monitors sites like this, or just through osmosis, through conversations.

When I said after the game against the Commanders that either KOC was reading this site, or he finally got the message through the reality of their lopsided losses that they needed to run the ball more, and do more dink and dunk, and more quick passes, it was not that I really believed he was reading our posts. Most people would believe KOC reading our posts would be absurd, that reality had struck, or something caused his stubborness to change.

With that statement, I was really fishing for what posters here thought caused that change. What is it reality just hitting him, or was there some other reason (s). I was hoping for some ideas on that, not a misinterpretation that I was saying that KOC must have read our posts.

What I heard from Skor North is that starting last week they went 50/50 on 3 WR sets instead of 70% and it made a huge difference.

JJ loves his TE.

Phil Mackey 🎙
@PhilMackey
Kevin O'Connell always has a pained expression when talking about "simplifying" his system. I think he hates doing it.

But some of the changes KOC made on Sunday were incredibly effective -- and, I would argue, should carry forward!

Get this...

According to
@SumerSports
, 32 NFL teams have run a total of 334 personnel packages offensively.

When the Vikings run "11" personnel (3 WR), they rank *333rd out of 334* in offensive Expected Points Added (-79).

To put it simply... When the Vikings run "11" personnel sets (which is KOC's preferred grouping), they are one of the absolute worst offenses in the NFL.

To make things worse, the Vikings stubbornly run "11" personnel on over 70% of offensive snaps!

Until Sunday... when Kevin O'Connell instead elected to use heavier personnel packages on 51% of offensive snaps!

5 plays in “13” (1 RB, 3 TEs, 1 WR) -- after running only 10 all year

12 plays in “12” personnel (1 RB, 2 TEs, 2 WR)

9 plays in “22” personnel (2 RB, 2 TE, 1 WR)

7 plays in “21” personnel (2 RB, 1 TE, 2 WR)

And only 49% of plays in the aforementioned “11” personnel.

The result? A 31-0 beat-down victory. Yes, against a bad defense. But still, progress.

Great coaches adapt. KOC has shown a disdain for adapting his system and personnel packages

The 1st 5 letters of Reichard are Reich, sounds like it could be German. Shocking isn't it.

Tom is using projection calling something jackassery, Tom sounds like an ass, and keeping Flores on the Vikes seems like a good thing. I await more comments from Tua during the off-season to keep Flores as our DC.

Bill continues to try and make himself some sort of self appointed caretaker for what he thinks should be the boards 'sane' thinking, and I will not be bullied by his small mind.

Explaining it doesn’t make it any less offensive.

Right

marty...

just accept that you made a poor and offensive reference

trying to explain your way out of it looks even worse

(and I'm sorry to posters here that this likely will trigger another post of excuses)

Now sitting at #13 in the draft, and KC looks like a lock to stay ahead of us. #13-16 is the new predicted window.

I do love the tankathon.com concept … pretty dam funny.

Hard to get excited about Kwesi moving up or down a few spots … even with Jackson and Turner improving his bottomline. And eventually McCarthy, possibly (JJ has gone from a big ol’ railroad spike in Kwesi’s coffin to at least buying some more time).

Sean Payton winning a SB with the dude we passed on would be a big ‘no bueno.’

True, but a fella can dream. Was hoping a top 10ish slot would allow for the option to take the top CB out there, but IDK anything about the prospects.

The updates on that site, to include SOS, are near real time so it's good for snapshots of the draft order.

Justin Jefferson said he was mad at himself for not catching the TD pass he dropped from J.J. McCarthy, though he said the throw came in faster than he expected.

"It was coming in hot, for sure," Jefferson said with a laugh. "We all know J.J. knows how to throw the ball, and he knows how to get it to that spot. It was a great throw, great spot. You know, of course I wasn't expecting that much heat on the ball, but that's definitely never an excuse. I always got to catch those types of balls."

A guy of his caliber can't have drops like that. It's happened way too many times this year. Help the young guy out and do your job. You could explain it away if it was Felton or even Nailor but not Jettas.

I have a playful demeanor, and didn't realize that taking the 1st 5 letters of someone's name and combining it with something to make it easy to remember, if it's something bad, that might offend somebody. It was not my intention to offend anyone over that, and I apologize to anyone that was offended by it.

Bullshit.

You're saying you've never heard of the 3rd Reich? Or you have no idea what it was?

You think Reichard would appreciate that as a nickname?

beo -> RE: General Vikes Talkk (12/16/2025 2:38:33 PM)

Really good vid of JT O'Sullivan breaking down JJMs game against cowboys.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fa4EHBxMoKI

1) JJM probably had a better game than I even gave him credit for... and I was very encouraged by his performance already

2) Nailor is open A LOT
don't think they have a chance to keep this guy but he has really turned into a weapon

3) KOC had a really good game too

How exciting would it be to have KOC/JJM tandem really to finish out the season and feel like you have your guy for the future?

Bill Jandro -> RE: General Vikes Talkk (12/16/2025 3:01:34 PM)

At this stage I think extending Nailor and trading Addison would be the prudent move.

Also like to see Felton get some run. Guy isn't going to develop riding the pine.

Bill Johanesen -> RE: General Vikes Talkk (12/16/2025 4:02:04 PM)

Random musings:

Things have been relatively encouraging the past two weeks, but both games were against really crappy pass defenses. Like near the bottom. And another one is coming up in the NYG.

Conversely, JJM and the O did well, scoring in the 30s both games. So they took care of business.

After the Giants, it's Det and GB. I hope they have something to play for so that we can see JJM against some better defenses.

The kid was in a real rut performance wise and it wouldn't have been a surprise to see him fold for at least the season if not longer. But to his credit he has righted the ship so to speak.

Detroit really isn't that good of defense either.....GB will be w/o Micah now...

"Definitely never an excuse" but he still brings it up twice.

Kind of like Marty saying if you are that easily offended I'm sorry [&:]

When will people straight up take responsibility for their words and actions without the BS?!
