I love how Gleeman has been so pessimistic. He used to be the positive one. He listed 15 FA in the Twins range and only 7 or so left after Jansen signing.

Twins have signed 1B Josh Bell. Pretty good player.

7 million to him as they didn't want to spend 12 million on the All Star and best fielder; O'Hearn.

It is better than doing nothing but O'Hearn can play OF and 1B. Bell could be a decent DH only but no way they get O'Hearn also.

They dropped McCusker to clear a spot on the 40 man roster to draft a rule 5 catcher from the As and trade him to the Giants for a 17 year old catcher from the Dominican league.

The A’s first-round pick in 2022, Daniel Susac has risen quickly up their farm system. At age 24, he spent 2025 in AAA-Las Vegas, slashing .275/.349/.483 with 18 home runs across 97 games. He also threw out 26 percent of base stealers, but made eight errors and allowed six passed balls.

In exchange for Susac, the Twins received 17-year-old catching prospect Miguel Caraballo. In the Dominican Summer League, the switch-hitting Caraballo slashed .264/.432/.442 across 41 games.

No Twins prospects were selected by any other clubs in the Major League portion of the draft. In the minor league (AAA) portion, Minnesota lost relievers Aaron Sozak and John Stankiewicz while adding reliever Sam Ryan and outfielder Garrett Spain.

A switch-hitting catcher is such a luxury. Ryan Doumit is the last one I remember playing for the Twins, although he played other positions too. Caraballo will be an interesting guy to keep an eye on.

The prize of the Duran trade was a teenage catcher. Now we traded away a catcher who might be ready next season for another teenage catcher.

I actually have no problem with that move. The Twins already signed Jackson to back up Jeffers. This created a longshot scenario for the rule 5 catcher. Trading him for Caraballo adds organizational depth at catcher without the rule 5 contingency.

Yeah. It might be a steal down the line.

Just thinking I would rather see Susac in Minny than some light hitting retread(Jackson).

If it was me I would be sneaky about it.....trade away Jeffers and Larnach and trade for Adley and sign O'Hearn.

I wouldn't be all that against trading Joe Ryan either----but it would take Tong and McLean from the Mets or Early and Tolle from Boston.

I think we need more bats than pitching.....and these combined moves would just cost about 3 million.

twinsfan -> RE: General Twins Talk (12/17/2025 10:06:54 AM)

I received this from Tom Pohlad today.

Dear Matt,

As we welcome our limited partners and begin moving the Minnesota Twins forward in new and meaningful ways, I want to speak to you, our fans, directly.

The last two years have brought uncertainty, frustration and disappointment. You are the heartbeat of this team, and you deserve a product on the field that reflects your level of passion and commitment to the Twins. You also deserve clarity, consistency, and accountability—especially when expectations are not met. We recognize we need to earn back your trust, and we intend to do so through our actions and our decisions moving forward.

As part of this transition, I will assume the role of Principal Owner. My promise to you and all Twins fans is to lead with accountability, strategic curiosity, clarity of vision, and a relentless focus on winning. These values will guide every decision we make as we shape the future of this organization.

I want to address the difficult roster decisions made at last year’s trade deadline. They were the result of an honest assessment that our team, as constructed, was not consistently winning at a high enough level. If our aspiration is truly to build a team capable of winning the World Series—not simply contending for a division title—then we must make decisions with a long-term competitive horizon in mind. These changes, while tough, strengthen our foundation and better position us for sustained success. Our top focus is on building a championship-caliber organization.

I also recognize that your time at Target Field matters—and enhancing your fan experience will remain a key focus. From the atmosphere in the ballpark, to the service you receive, to the energy we create together, we are committed to making every visit special. Target Field is one of the very best ballparks in baseball because of you, and we intend to make it an even more exceptional place to watch the Twins and gather as a community.

In the months ahead, I look forward to sharing more about our direction and listening closely to what you expect from us. Your voice matters, and your passion will continue to shape the standards we hold ourselves to—on and off the field.

Thank you for continuing to stand with us—through joys and disappointments, through transition and growth, and now into a future filled with purpose and promise. Our players inspire us, but you give us purpose.

I read Tom is basically taking over Young Joe's role......interesting to see what comes out of it.

Hopefully he has his great grandma guiding him.

Revealed yesterday that Craig Leopold is involved in one of the minority ownerships.

Craig Leipold's investment in the Twins as a limited partner intrigues me. Does he have a long-term interest in increasing that investment? For instance if MLB gets some type of salary cap in the next CBA negotiations.

David Levine -> RE: General Twins Talk (12/17/2025 6:23:52 PM)

"We don't think we should spend more on the team. But we think the fans should spend more on our organization" is a hell of a message to try and deliver based on the past few years.

quote:

"I don't think that as the landscape, what I see right now, that we should put a significant investment into the team of 50 or 60 million dollars (on top of their current $100 million payroll), but I don't think we are far off from that.

I think the hard work in front of us is getting people and fans to buy into, to believe, we are committed to a championship-caliber investment and team. I would tell you that Rome wasn't built in a day. It's not just the players on the field that will make us champions. It's the organization in its entirety."

So the Twins big moves of the off-season were to add a couple of minority investors and put another nephew of The Brothers Cheap in charge. I'm sure this will change everything. [&o]

I understand why Joe is pissed.....it really had nothing to do with him. He never controlled the spending.

That being said their marketing team or Joe sucked on the timing and content of the messaging when they cut payroll 2 Novembers ago.

Tom said it in the presser.

“Joe was not on board with this at first,” Tom Pohlad said. “He’s on board now. He understands. He was the leader of this organization. He’s been here for 19 years. And as difficult as this is for me to say, all he’s ever wanted was to be a part of this organization and to lead it and to help this franchise win a world championship. Things change. We had to make a decision as a family. He understands.”

Tom Pohlad repeatedly described how difficult this has been on the family, and particularly on the brothers’ relationship.
