I heard one reporter say we have the 3rd best QB in the division and unfortunately it's a QB league.
I'm not sure where I would rate BC among division coaches either, but we have the top defense and rushing attack easily.

The top supposed top 2 QBs in the north have yet to produce a winner.

Guest -> RE: Who will win the NFC North (9/11/2009 10:49:19 PM)

The starting QB's of the NFC North are all big question marks, IMO.  The non-starter, Culpepper might be the best QB in the division, and clearly he's not as good as he once was.

Steve Lentz -> RE: Who will win the NFC North (9/11/2009 10:53:59 PM)

They all got a lot of proving to do to me. Cutler was my pick of the Qb's a few years ago but he's still got plenty of question marks.

ANd of course we have the BEST DEFENSE and running game, and now some more speed and playmaking ability from our WR's, as well as more speed and probably better ST's than last year's flukey crap...

Did we upgrade QB? probably that, too...

Coaching?  Well, ST's is upgraded...BC will be "coaching for his life"...gotta be some benefit to that!

The great part about all these prognosticators is that they very often don't know a heck of alot more than you and I. They will flock like sheep if we get out of the gates 6-1 or 8-2, and Favre looks servicable.

Like a player in his contract year. It will serve him well to let Brett audible.

Of course that is based on the past.  Things can change quickly in the NFL.  The alleged upgrades at the skill positions mean nothing if our O-Line doesn't play well.

Thomas O. Eliason -> Pete (9/12/2009 1:24:43 AM)

Just having the audible as a weapon means the defense can't sell out on any particular attack.

That's a big difference in both the run & passing game, and it helps our OL a great deal.

If you ask me, KA has been handcuffing this team since day ONE.

If it happens two weeks in a row, then I'll buy lotto. That would ensure the end of the run.

John Childress -> RE: Who will win the NFC North (9/17/2009 8:22:51 AM)

Look for a repeat this week with Favre throwing a bit more downfield

Andy Lowe -> RE: Who will win the NFC North (9/17/2009 8:36:23 AM)

Nice call Jim.

I expect a monsterous performance from our D this Sunday.

If they get after it, they can make it an absolure miserable day for Stafford.

Lynn G. -> RE: Who will win the NFC North (9/17/2009 9:13:23 AM)

I hope they're preparing for Daunte too. If Stafford really struggles at the beginning - maybe they'll sit him for Daunte so they don't completely ruin the psyche of the kid.

MarkSP18 -> RE: Who will win the NFC North (9/17/2009 9:36:31 AM)

I look for this game to be similar to the Cleveland game.

Start slow and come on strong and hopefully no onsides kick to start the game.

I am not a big fan of "trickery" especially against a weaker team.

I am curious to see how Loadholt handles Cliff Avril.

I noticed last week that Wimbley strated over Loadholt but when he got his sacks he was over McKinnie.

Perhaps he felt he could have more success vs McKinnie?

Here is something interesting to me.

What if we re-did the draft who would you pick if you did not take the first 3 guys we took ...

I am not down on Loadholt but Michael Oher is playing a mean right tackle for Baltimore.

Louis Murphy is playing pretty good as a WR too.

at 22 I would take Michael Oher RT
at 54 I would take Sean Smith CB
at 86 I would take Louis Murphy WR

the rest I would leave as is.

I like our picks but just curious.

Good point.  Better work on fumble drills [&:][:'(]

John Childress -> RE: Who will win the NFC North (9/17/2009 4:22:52 PM)

From the moment favre was mentioned about coming we have heard about how now bard could run the complete ka offense - how we would see all these new routes.

So far, the opposite is true. Even when trailing Sunday we were less diverse in our passing routes.

If we dont fix the ability to pick up the blitz the better defenses will eat up our passing game.

Guest -> RE: Who will win the NFC North (9/17/2009 5:22:08 PM)

I guess people see things completely different.

I saw the Vikings simply wear down the Browns at the point of attack with their bread & butter rushing attack in the second half.

Opening up the second half Favre did go down the field to Rice (Ripped off TD catch), and pass Interference.

Next drive Harvin got deep down the middle seam amongst three strikes thrown to the rookie, and Favre was efficient in the red zone as well.

I felt they were playing it pretty close to the vest playcalling in the first half, but it progressively got better.

And why show everybody all our sets when we are crushing them in the second half???

John Childress -> RE: Who will win the NFC North (9/17/2009 7:20:39 PM)

We weren't crushing them.  We were losing at halftime and did not put the game out of reach until 1:06 left in the 3rd quarter!

Let's not pretend that weren't trying to pull away before that.

marty -> RE: Who will win the NFC North (9/17/2009 7:37:12 PM)

I HOPE the Vikes gameplan is to be more aggressive in the PASSING game.  Too much running might just keep Detroit in the game, and IF they get CLOSE to smelling victory, look out !

Then again, to much running might blow the lions out of the building, this is what the Vikings are, you should get used to this.

John Childress -> RE: Who will win the NFC North (9/17/2009 9:32:39 PM)

Detroit is not winning this game and it won't be close.
