This is the week we lose - Steelers 34 Vikes 20.

Not having Antoine is a big loss for us.

When are you guys going to forget the past and start believing? This team can win big games.

Vikings 24 Steelers 13

marty -> RE: Earth to marty (10/25/2009 2:14:09 AM)

I sometimes think what a player or coach says before a game can be quite meaningful in predicting an outcome in part based on expectation.

Now, this may not have been his intention, but when Adrian Peterson said THIS:

"We have to get off to a fast start (Sunday)," he said. "It'll be hard playing catch-up at Heinz Field."

I couldn't but think that had he said "It WOULD be hard playing catch-up at Heinz Field", that would have meant he expected that the Vikes would NOT be behind, but because he said "It'll be hard playing catch-up at Heinz Field", it makes me think that he believes the Vikes WILL be playing catch-up.

And that is NOT a good sign.  I think the Vikes will lose this one, even if Favre plays well.

Pittsburgh 27
Minnesota 17

I have faith in the Vikings winning at home, but they haven't beat a good team on the road --- yet.  I MIGHT even change my mind on this one later in the morning, because Favre is playing so well, and this team learned from last week that hard work CAN pay off, if you are fortunate to get a little luck with it.

It also true that this win puts the Vikes in the drivers' seat, so if it's close I think there is actually a good chance the Vikes WIN.  I'm sure Pittsburgh sees every win as important, but it might not feel that a win is of such importance as it is to the Vikes.  We'll see.

Ryan Taylor -> RE: Earth to marty (10/25/2009 7:25:26 AM)

This is the type of game that championship teams adjust to the loss of a star player whether it's on the defensive or offensive side of the ball.

The injury excuse should not ever be used when taking about a championship team.

Frazier has to step up as does our defense. Our offense needs to continue its stellar play and not slip one bit.

If this team does truly believe that it is a SB caliber team this is the game they can prove themselves exactly that by not lettling Winfields absence matter one bit.

I think this team still believes they have not put together a consistent effort for a full game yet and are looking to do that today.

I also believe that (after reading what Leber said about the win last Sunday being disturbing for the defense) our defense will step up. I don't think they will want that performance to define them as a defense for the rest of the year and I don't believe they will let Winfields absence be a factor.

Vikes win 31 to 13.

The line you quoted from AD was a play on words by him, you know "catch-up and Heinz field."(as in ketchup)  Even the interviewer didn't get it until yesterday.  They had a good time with that one.  They respect the Vikes but I think they are a very confident group as they should be.

John Childress -> RE: Earth to marty (10/25/2009 8:46:23 AM)

Do you guys watch SportsCenter?

They have been cracking me up with PUNs on Shiancoe.  Every time he makes a play they say something like "Shiancoe sitting their exposed in the end zone" or something like that.  Shiancoe having a break out game.

Kills me

Steve Lentz -> RE: Earth to marty (10/25/2009 9:39:02 AM)

I'd be suprised if Minnesota didn't score more than 17 points. Harvin's status could be key though.

With all the demented sex preverts at ESPN they probably have the towel scene running on a loop on a big screen in the cafeteria.

John Childress -> RE: Earth to marty (10/25/2009 10:24:14 AM)

For real!

Phillips and Eisen alone is enough to get off on that one

Wow!

Phillips messing around with some 22 year old?

Too bad he doesn't have any daughters of his own, it may have made him think twice.

Apparently it is not the first t ime that he has cheated on his wife (from wikipedia) ...

Harassment allegations For a brief stint in 1998, Phillips took a leave of absence as general manager because of allegations of sexual harassment. He admitted to consensual sex with the woman who filed the suit, as well as multiple other affairs, but denied harassment and the civil suit was settled out of court. Phillips was away from the team for a total of eight days. The Mets defended Phillips privately and publicly, and the alleged victim's attorney was even quoted as believing in his sincerity

Dave Odle -> RE: Earth to marty (10/25/2009 11:00:17 AM)

And from what I understand, the 22-year-old is a total downgrade from his wife. Really ugly. So he goes from a decent looking wife to an unattractive psycho. Sound decisions my friend!!

I heard about it on the radio. Funny stuff. I heard she looks like Frotto(sp?). I've never seen Harry Potter but just the sound of the name tells me she's got to be butt ugly.

Harsh, I hope his new job isn't selling cars. He obviously doesn't know shit about trade ins.

John Childress -> RE: Earth to marty (10/25/2009 12:00:34 PM)

You are slaying me today bro.

Phillips had a Benz and decided he would trade it for a Yugo for sure.

Tim Cady -> RE: Earth to marty (10/25/2009 4:23:30 PM)

I am not saying the new one is nice but the wifey looks plasticy to me. Fake boobs and lots of face injections. Maybe she doesn't put out and the gorilla,,,,er I mean girley feels real good in the dark.

Dave Odle -> RE: Earth to marty (10/25/2009 4:29:47 PM)

After further observation, Phillips seems to have some freeze face going on as well. Even so, that 22-year-old chick looks like a roadie from an Aerosmith road tour. (shivers).

No way, Aerosmith likes hotties, she has Head East written all over her. You ever see those guys, they still play once in a while and they didn't look good 30 years ago.

John Childress -> RE: Earth to marty (10/25/2009 4:44:42 PM)

I didn't know 22 year olds could get so ugly.  Why in the H would you deal with an ugly 22 year old?

So you get an immature mind plus bad looks?  His wife looks 10X better than her.

She reminds me of that dog from the Dark Knight!
