[&:] my way to the bank.

Should have put a $1000 on my Super Teaser, I would have had $20,000 from just one bet.

Go ahead and lose your money trying to bet games straight up and losing on occasion as the refs are messing with it. I think it's smarter to take advantage of the Super Teasers.

There's a reason you're telling us what you would have done, instead of what you're doing with your money. As you already said, if you were making an actual bet you'd have changed it. That's the difference between just saying what you think and putting hard cash down.

My picks for this week

Ravens 30

Pats 27
Ravens 13

Giants 17
Niners 10

Prescott -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (1/16/2012 9:43:01 AM)

Niners 24
Giants 13

Patriots 21
Ravens 23

Trekgeekscott -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (1/16/2012 12:23:44 PM)

Niners 5 SB titles  Last title 1995 or 16 years ago.
Giants 3 SB titles  Last title 2007 or 4 years ago.
Patriots 3 SB titles Last title 2003 or 8 years ago
Ravens 1 SB title. Last title 2001 or 10 years ago.

I tend to like the team that has the fewest titles and the ones that have been the longest since their last title.  Plus I hate the Patriots with a passion.  They are one of four teams I never want to see win another title (Cowboys, Steelers, and Packers are the others).  So, I am rooting for Baltimore and the 49ers.  9ers haven't been there in a while and have stunk for so long that I can get over the 5 titles they hold.  I wouldn't weep if the Giants got in again.

So our possibilities for the SB now are:

Giants/Ravens - Rematch of 2001...this time Giants are better and would be a much better game.
Giants/Patriots - Rematch of 2007...could be fun, but I think Patriots would love revenge and would end up winning.
49ers/Ravens - Harbaugh bowl
49ers/Patriots - the media doesn't want this game.  No special story to go on.  Other than Harbaugh coming in and making the 9ers relevant again and Alex Smith resurrecting his career.

I want 49ers/Ravens.

I think we get 49ers/Patriots.

Rob Viking -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (1/16/2012 4:20:55 PM)

Pats 27 Ravens 17
Brady is too good for the Ravens frustrating them time and time again with 3rd down conversions. Flacco plays well for 3 quarters but throws a pick midway through the 4th as the Pats ice the game.

Giants 20 49ers 16
Giants find a way again. They go down 10 early and are down 16-6 in the 4th, then Eli leads two straight TD drives hitting Nicks for the game winning TD with under 1 minute left.

RBIrving -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (1/17/2012 9:09:28 AM)

Pats vs Giants Super Bowl?

That would free me up to do something productive that day.

marty -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (1/17/2012 9:10:44 PM)

Prescott, I did in fact make $2000 on a $100 Super Teaser, plus you get the $100 back. I went back to Vegas and put $400 down for 9 wagers (2 $100, Super Teasers, 2 $50 Teasers, and 5 $20 parlays), anyone of them paying another $2000. 5 of them were one game away from $2000, and 1 of them was ONE Doug Flutie play away from another $2000 !

In this imaginary Super Teaser bet, I likely would have changed to the Patriots, but would have lost the wager as the GB/NY Giants game really did catch me by surprise. I would NOT have taken the Giants +18, even though that looks like a no brainer today.

Marty might be right. Giants got hosed on that fumble.

69in09

I'm just telling you that officiating is likely to either be non-biased, or if they ARE biased, which side they are likely to be on, based on the spread, and where I think mainstream betting is leaning (and if the spread moves, THAT shows it). It is quite rare that the refs will be where the money is, but it does happen once in a while.

Without knowing if the spreads have moved for next week, I thought the Giants would be favored by about 2 or 3, and that NE would probably be favored by about 4. With the 49ers favored by 3, I would expect more betting on the Giants (we'll see if the spread moves, sometimes I'm wrong on that, but usually I'm right on that), and then you get either neutral officiating, or officiating that helps the 49ers.

I thought the Patriots would be favored by about 4, so I would expect more betting on the Ravens. IF so, then the officiating is likely to either be nuetral, or favoring the Patriots. We'll see.

kwheats -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (1/17/2012 9:27:00 PM)

I think Giants - Patriots, I would rather have it be Ravens 49ers, Giants win the Super bowl

There is no way this team wins 9 games.  No way.

We will choke against Jax and Indianapolis.

Houston will beat us in Houston in December

And we will find a way to blow all our games against our division.

Sorry, if this team wins 5 games this year...I will be amazed.

Yep, Last season in Minnesota and they are going to be under .500.

And the funny thing is...I'm usually one of the optimists around here.

Trekgeekscott -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (8/9/2012 3:31:34 PM)

My first prediction of the year.

Karma will finally come around and bite the Packers in the ass.

Rodgers will get hurt and the Packers will be stuck with a no name backup running their offense...

Everyone expects them to be better...but there is no way.  They will have a target on their back...and they barely got away with a couple games last year.

Yup, they'll be giving games away all season! [&:]

Jeff Jesser -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (8/9/2012 8:36:44 PM)

First game of preseason so take it with a block of salt but they looked like crap tonight.

Thomas O. Eliason -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (8/10/2012 2:15:36 AM)

So did the Bears.

RBIrving -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (8/10/2012 8:17:25 AM)

Never like to see injuries. I expect the Packers to use injuries as an excuse for falling apart this year. Their defense is worse than ours and replacing their OC is gone put a chink in their offense.

Rob Viking -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (8/16/2012 12:46:05 PM)

Looking at our schedule this is my first prediction.

vs Jax W - Our DLine will swarm Gabbert to a handful of spikes and terrible passes. Low scoring 20-10

at IND L - Luck has a strong game vs our porous pass D after he struggled in the first game vs Chicago. Surprisingly high scoring game. 31-27

vs SF W - Surprise win here. The 49ers porous OLine strugles and we get to Smith. Ponder makes smart decisiosn and only has 1 TO, Walsh hits his first GW FG. 20-17

at DET L - Ponder has his worst game of the season, sacked 5 times and 3 TO. 34-13

vs TEN W - Handle Johnson, and Ponder bounces back with a solid performance. AD has best game of the season with 150+ yds and 2 TDs. 27-17

at Wash L - We always beat them when it doesn't count (like last 2 seasons and lose to them when it matters like (1987, 1992, 2004, 2007). This is somewhere in between, but i think a desperate Skins teams gets what might be there first win here. 23-20

vs ARI W - We'll handle teams with poor QBs at home most of the time and this is no different. 24-17

vs TB W Prime time game first one in the Metrodome since Favre's first game vs the Pack. The corwd gets amped up. We get up to a big lead and Freeman leads the Bucs back but it's not ebough. 24-20

at Sea L - 10 days to prepare helps but in hostile environment Ponder struggles. Their DLine destorys our OLine and Rice has 2 TDs. 24-10

vs Det W - Finally end the division losing streak. Get to Stafford even though he puts up 400 yards. Harvin has his best game of the season and scores a hat trick; 1 TD reception, 1 rushing and returns a KO for a TD. 31-24

Bye

at Chi L - This is a given every year. The defense gets gashed on the ground and the offense struggle in the red zone. 31-13

at GB L - Previous loss damages confidence and Packers passing game too much. Ponder struggles with blitzes. 38-17

vs Chi L - A once promising season begins to unravel. Cutler throws 4 TDs. 34-17.

at Stl L - Lose a tough game vs an improved Rams team. AD has a big game but so does Stecen Jackson and the Rams DLine rules the day. 20-17.

at Hou L - Texans on a mini losing streak try to right the ship before the playoffs. Depth a concern at this point. 30-21

vs GB L - Might be a win if the Packers have clinched home field. In what would/should probably be Frazier's last game the boys play hard but lose on a late Rodgers TD pass. 28-24

Todd M -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (8/18/2012 5:39:36 PM)

The record for longest FG will fall this year.

More than one kicker will pass 63.

(Or Walsh will do it twice - the vision isn't 100% clear [;)])

Duane Sampson -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (8/19/2012 9:11:19 AM)

The record for an indoor FG is 60 yards. I see our kid cracking that....

John Childress -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (8/31/2012 3:29:07 PM)

My most optimistic prediction

1 vs Jacksonville - W
2 @ Indianapolis - L
3 vs San Francisco - L
4 @ Detroit - L
5 vs Tennessee - W
6 @ Washington - L
7 Vs Arizona - W
8 vs Tampa Bay - W
9 @ Seattle - L
10 vs Detroit - W
11 BYE WEEK
12 @ Chicago - L
13 @ Green Bay - L
14 vs Chicago - W
15 @ St. Louis - w
16 @ Houston - L
17 vs Green Bay - L

7-9

RBIrving -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (9/1/2012 12:39:08 AM)

Sounds very doable. If everything goes that way through week 16, I would give the Vikings good odds at winning their last game and finishing 8-8. More likely than not the Packers will have nothing to play for and pack it in for the playoffs. pun fully intended.

RBIrving -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (9/1/2012 12:41:02 AM)

Take it one step further, if both Houston and Green Bay have nothing to play for, the Vikings could ride a 4 game win streak into the end of the season and just miss the playoffs.

J Jeffreys -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (9/4/2012 2:07:07 AM)

The number after the opposing team is my prediction for the ranked liklihood the Vikings win the game. The easiest game to win is 1. The hardest is 16. Note in my predictions the Vikings win some games they should lose, vice versa and don't lose any Pro Bowlers (AP, Allen, Winfield, Greenway, Harvin) to injury.

1 vs Jacksonville 1 - W
2 @ Indianapolis 5 - W
3 vs San Francisco 12 - L (closer than it looks. 16-13 OT)
4 @ Detroit 14 - L (blowout)
5 vs Tennessee 2 - W
6 @ Washington 8 - W (Come on people! We beat Cam and Luck. We'll take down RG3)
7 Vs Arizona 6 - T (Toss up. It came up sides.)
8 vs Tampa Bay 3 - W
9 @ Seattle 9 - W (We got two road wins last year. We get two road wins this year. This is number 2)
10 vs Detroit 11 - L (closer than week 4 but not by much)
11 BYE WEEK
12 @ Chicago 15 - L
13 @ Green Bay 16 - L
14 vs Chicago 13 - L (Cutler owns the Vikings, but he might have a hangnail)
15 @ St. Louis 4 - w (OK 3 road wins)
16 @ Houston 7 - w (OK 4 road wins)
17 vs Green Bay 10 - W (Packers have the division wrapped up and we have to win one division game)

8-7-1 Vikes finish over .500 with 8 wins. A trivia answer for the ages.
