Jeff Jesser -> RE: Gopher Football (12/19/2016 4:22:15 AM)

Why is he being punished like that?

Karl Juhnke -> RE: Gopher Football (12/19/2016 9:57:45 AM)

He will be the eighth offensive coordinator in eight years at Rutgers.

There's some job stability.

Bill Jandro -> RE: Gopher Football (12/19/2016 12:00:28 PM)

We are the new Rutgers

TJSweens -> RE: Gopher Football (12/19/2016 1:41:49 PM)

Well, Rutgers offense will be at least as predictable as the Gophers.

Come on now! We crushed that bag of crap in triple OT or something!

Jeff Jesser -> RE: Gopher Football (12/19/2016 5:08:45 PM)

All jokes aside, that is about as low as it gets for our guys.

Guy gets the job, hailed as a hero and kinda of fizzles out at first. Starts to get the program going and them plateaus for a bit only to quit, mid gig, as mediocrity starts to set in.

Mediocre guy is replaced by unknown guy and extended, what seems, unbelievably

Unknown guy keeps up the mediocre program while Kill throws a tantrum because his brand of "toilet bowl" eligible football doesn't get him full control of the University.

Scandals continue and we still sniff mediocrity with Unknown guy

Kill takes a job at 1 of the 3 (probable) worse situations than ours........

GO TEAM!!!!!

Can we please jettison these clowns out of the state and bring in someone who ACTUALLY knows how to build a football program?

SoMnFan -> RE: Gopher Football (12/19/2016 7:01:54 PM)

game, set match .....
Mr Jesser.

SoMnFan -> RE: Gopher Football (12/19/2016 7:06:36 PM)

Btw ... hats off to the Bison, even in defeat.
As was said afterwards ... probably the most impressive run of football dominance this country has ever seen.
Once I heard it was happening (the loss) ... I tuned in and wasn't disappointed, as their opponent showed class and paid their respects to the program they all had aimed at forever.
It ain't easy being top dog.
Everybody comes shootin at ya.
They fought off the challenges longer than any team I've ever seen do it.
I salute ya.

Scoggins: After events of past week, it's tough to see how Gophers keep Claeys

They're dumb enough to.

[&:][&:] he writes it like .... Oh my, how in the world will we be able to hang on to big whopper of a catch we have ..... don't let the door hit ya, big spanky

Karl Juhnke -> RE: Gopher Football (12/20/2016 8:05:37 AM)

Claeys is probably a knowledgeable x and o guy and a nice guy and probably a decent coordinator. But there is so much more to being a head coach and I've never been convinced he's the right guy to take all of that on. I would shed no tears if they showed him the door. Signs seem to indicate they want to keep him though.

My guess? This bowl game is a battle for his job. With a strong impressive win it's tougher to let him go. With a loss...especially a bad loss, added to the off field disarray and it's just the excuse the new AD will need to dump Claeys and put his his own stamp on the program.

http://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/18353769/petition-wants-coach-tracy-claeys-fired-response-minnesota-players-boycott

More than 400 "concerned citizens" have signed a petition calling for the University of Minnesota to fire football coach Tracy Claeys for his response to a recent player boycott.

Released Monday, the MoveOn.com petition centers on the Dec. 15 tweet that Claeys posted hours after the team announced its boycott, which came in response to the university suspending 10 players for involvement in an alleged sexual assault involving a female student. Minnesota players began the boycott because they believed that teammates had been denied due process from the university's Title IX office, especially five players who were never investigated by Minneapolis police or Hennepin County prosecutors.

Claeys tweeted: "Have never been more proud of our kids. I respect their rights & support their effort to make a better world!"

The petition notes that Claeys' tweet "failed to mention or acknowledge the importance of respecting women. Further, it did not condemn violence, sexual assault or disrespect of women. We feel this is not at all acceptable."

Jeff Jesser -> RE: Gopher Football (12/27/2016 9:42:41 AM)

What a weird vibe for a bowl game. I have no idea how this is going to go. I can see both scenarios.

A. Kids are so tired of it all they just lay an egg. Basically apathy.

B. They are so tired of it all they come out and just play with nothing to lose and whoop em.

"A" gets TC's and staff shit canned, "B".....does it get them a 2nd chance? Scoggins/Strib talked about it today. This has got to be killing us at recruiting and lets be honest, that's a tough sell anyway.

Tell me what channel the Holiday Bowl is on tonight!

These internet petitions are getting a little out of control these days, aren't they? It's the U of M leaders that need to make this call. That's why they are paid the big bucks.

Also, mental ramifications aside for a moment, just looking at the practical impact of the scandal, they are missing a shitload of defensive players against a high powered offense. This could be a track meet.

If that happens, Claeys is gone. If they do somehow win, the picture is maybe a little more murky.

Winning or losing one meaningless bowl game shouldn't play into the decision, but I suspect it will.

Brad H -> RE: Gopher Football (12/27/2016 2:38:41 PM)

Today the Gophers will face a real quarterback.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: Gopher Football (12/27/2016 4:13:15 PM)

They'll be ready. They've practiced against a first rounder all year![&:]

Jeff Jesser -> RE: Gopher Football (12/27/2016 6:12:11 PM)

This is gonna be ugly. That first series of downs went 4 but you can label it a 1 and out.

Well now. I think that's the 8th Color guy that has literally mentioned how hard it is for ML to over throw a 6-10 TE........

Good thing the new savior is going to get booted (or transfer). Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhh
