Bruce Johnson -> RE: NFL News (10/3/2010 6:35:36 PM)

Add the Colts to the list of teams that have two losses.  How did they lose to the Jags?

The Jets looked good.  They're going to be tough at home.

SoMnFan -> RE: NFL News (10/3/2010 7:33:37 PM)

I realize this is [sm=Beating_A_Dead_Horse_by_livius.gif]
But seriously .... take a look at the highlights of TDs today.
About half of them should be overturned, according to the Calvin Johnson rule that cost the Lions a game and gave a boost to the Bears.
The more I watch games, the more that call pisses me off.

Lynn G. -> RE: NFL News (10/3/2010 7:37:45 PM)

I was thinking the same thing Scott, and I just got to watch mostly highlights - not any game in entirety. But there were several I saw that immediately made me think about the injustice of the Calvin Johnson call.

Lynn G. -> RE: NFL News (10/3/2010 7:38:45 PM)

One of them was the Woodson interception he returned for a TD. I'm not disputing that his was a TD - but Calvin Johnson had 800 times more control of the ball in the endzone than Woodson, yet his TD was taken away.

John Childress -> RE: NFL News (10/3/2010 7:39:12 PM)

When David Garrard has a higher QB rating than Payton Manning you probably lose

Again, the Colts can't stop the run without Sanders and that running game sets up Garrard

jax had 174 yards on the ground

McNabb went out of bounds near the end of the game when he didn't need to.  It could have cost the Redskins the game, but it didn't.

With Kolb at QB instead of Vick, DeSean Jackson was for decorative purposes only

John Childress -> RE: NFL News (10/3/2010 7:43:02 PM)

Wow, football play around the NFL really is bad this year. From parity to parody.

SoMnFan -> RE: NFL News (10/3/2010 7:45:31 PM)

Exactly what ran thru my mind today JC
No great teams
No great play
Very, very little seperates the top from bottom.
N.O. could have easily lost every game so far. They are not powerful. Nor is anyone else.
Lots of warts, even on the good (winning consistently) teams.

Aikman rode Kolb today like a rented mule.
(and it was spot-on)
I've never seen a game-plan so dumbed-down for a supposedly talented guy.
They designed every play to stay underneath, and he still shot-puts balls, and throws them to the wrong side of receivers.

SoMnFan -> RE: NFL News (10/3/2010 7:52:13 PM)

And btw ... if you are McNabb, and you have had success, and you are experienced, and you are supposed to be one of the better QBs int he league ...
How do you make a huge play at the end of the game like you did (the third down scramble) and then .... you simply take the ball out of bounds with you?
He single-handedly lengthened that game by a good half-dozen plays, all because of that one stupid mistake.
We fans don't ask for much, we just ask that you know enough about the game to do the right things.
Stuff like that seperates the great ones from the wanna-bes.

John Childress -> RE: NFL News (10/3/2010 8:00:02 PM)

McNabb is the opposite of many athletes

He is a very bright guy in real world stuff but is incredibly dumb with respect to in-game football knowledge. Remember how he didn't know the OT rules?

As for Kolb, what a complete waste of a QB. There is nothing he does well on the football field. His completion % will be higher than Vick's because he almost never throws the ball longer than 10 yards. When he does, he is WAY off target. I pray that the Vikings don't trade for him post-Favre

John Childress -> RE: NFL News (10/3/2010 8:02:33 PM)

Wow, what a bonehead pick by Cutler

SoMnFan -> RE: NFL News (10/3/2010 8:06:15 PM)

Shocking.
A Cutler mistake and an instant pout. [&:]
That douche is a complete powder-keg waiting to blow.
One or two bad weeks, and he'll go right back in the toilet. they are 3-0 and he's in love with Martz.
When they are 3-3, Martz will be the dumbest p.o.s. on the planet to him.
Its simply how Cutler looks at life. Its Jays world, and we're all sucking up his valuable oxygen.

Case in point: The final 2 undefeated teams are the BEARS and CHIEFS.

John Childress -> RE: NFL News (10/3/2010 8:30:43 PM)

The Jaguars lose by 25 to the Eagles and then beat the Colts

Washington loses to the Rams and beats the Eagles

Cutler with 7 sacks and there is still time left in the 2nd quarter!

Hloy crappola

Jeff Jesser -> RE: NFL News (10/3/2010 8:46:50 PM)

9 now, and he even tried to just shovel it out of bounds to avoid a statiscal sack [&:]....Ah man, and people wanted Tice here to coach the Oline [:-]

John Childress -> RE: NFL News (10/3/2010 9:15:38 PM)

Can't put that mess on Tice. The offensive line coach doesn't decide to use a TE to block a Pro Bowl DE. That is the offensive design

SoMnFan -> RE: NFL News (10/4/2010 6:15:29 AM)

Can't get over how badly Dilfer rides the Bears in the re-cap ... it's awesome [:D]

http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/nfl/news/story?id=5646198

It's basically a full 5-minute .... "they suck" rant.
Like I said, it's awesome.

John Childress -> RE: NFL News (10/4/2010 9:48:14 PM)

Chad Johnson and Reggie Wayne were born in 1978. They entered the league in the 2001 draft, six picks apart. Wayne was the 30th pick, Johnson the 36th. (Receivers picked before them, in order: David Terrell, Koren Robinson, Rod Gardner, Santana Moss, Freddie Mitchell. Can't anyone here scout this game?) At the close of business Sunday, Wayne had 707 receptions, Johnson (now-Chad Ochocinco) 705.

Ian Joseph -> RE: NFL News (10/5/2010 10:22:29 PM)

I remember most of those guys in college (didnt see much of Koren Robinson). While I wont shoot down the notion of scouts are crazy at times, David Terrell was a monster at Michigan. The fact that he didnt pan out truly shocked me.

Trekgeekscott -> RE: NFL News (10/6/2010 8:48:10 AM)

Koren Robinson did himself in with the alcoholism.  He was pretty good otherwise.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: NFL News (10/6/2010 9:34:24 AM)

All those guys were pretty solid in college.  I remember Robinson single handedily beat the Gophers in a bowl game.  [:@]

Todd M -> RE: NFL News (10/6/2010 10:11:28 AM)

moved

John Childress -> RE: NFL News (10/6/2010 10:25:31 AM)

Freddie Mitchell was a stiff

Jeff Jesser -> RE: NFL News (10/6/2010 12:06:40 PM)

Yeah, that asshat made 1 good play in his whole life.  Unfortunate for us....
