There's plenty of chinks in the Packers armor and NY showed all of them. They really match up well vs GB. Every strength of NY is the weakness of GB.

I watched that game yesterday and the Packers seem to have some chinks in their armor exposed....

At first I thought that maybe the 10 day layoff was affecting them and they would settle down and win going away...but that never happened.  The Giants hung with them and didn't look intimidated what so ever. 


The Packers were fortunate that they had 10 days off and the Giants were coming off of a Monday night game on the road. GB must have a fan in the scheduling office.

Agreed except the Giants DBs can be torched. Which is somewhat surprising since Rolle, Phillips, Webster, Ross and Prince are a talented bunch. The Raiders are similar in that they have a good DLine and ok DBs. If their WRs Ford, Moore and if McFadden were healthy then I could see the Raiders upsetting the Pack. We shall see the Raiders have risen up several times this season.

The teams that matchup the best vs the Pack are the Saints and the Eagles. The Eagles geared their off season to handle both the Pack and Saints.

The problem with the Saints is that they're poor on the road and if their run game is going they struggle. I heard Mike Lombardi talking and he states the Saints actually don't like getting into shootouts because their defense wears out, so they struggle if their running game isn't going.

The way Rodgers is playing, and with a little help from the refs, the Packers look like they might go undefeated the next 3 seasons, 57-0. And I'm not really joking [:@].

What's impressive to me is that they are doing without strong defensive play, with a run game that is spotty at times, with an OL that is struggling at times (and they do miss Clifton a tad on the left side). ANY of those areas improve, and they can win games in different ways.

I used to think that so much of Rodgers success was in good part because of his WRs, but I'm not so sure anymore. I used to think it was about 60%QB-40%WR, but I'm starting to think it's more like 70%QB-30%WR. Finley had a big drop in the last game. I also think playcalling is a strong asset for their team.

Rodgers passes have been right on, and he's seems driven this year. He's like a Joe Montana with a strong arm. However, I'm not sure his success is as much his dissecting a defense (sometimes it is), as it is just doing the things the Packer offense does well. After watching the Vikes/Broncos game, the optimistic part for the Vikings is I think Ponder might do similar things to Rodgers next year or the following year. It's mostly a matter of playing together. I think Ponder will make WRs out of Aroshamadu, Harvin, and maybe Webb, and the TEs are good if they can keep Shiancoe.

What the Vikes need the most, is a WR with a more physical presence like Jordy Nelson. It would also help if they benefitted from officials' calls more often. It is a myth that good teams overcome poor officiating. On occasion they do, but most of the time their success is in part because the refs overlook their bending the rules, and calls go their way because they have a reputation as being good. I really can't recall a team that won the SB where I felt they really had to overcome officiating in the playoffs, it's usually either nuetral or FOR them.

The Vikes played the Packers very close in their 1st meeting this year, despite Ponder lacking experience and Rodgers having an MVP year. And the Vikes may have played them close the 2nd time in Lameblow if the officials hadn't been so biased against the Vikes in that one. And the Vikings have since picked up Benny Sapp which will help their 2ndary next year.

Packers won, Jennings got hurt which sucks. Hopefully it's not too bad and it's a mild MCL tear which he could come back from after several weeks.

Well, if the Giants win the NFC East AND they play Green Bay on a day when swirling winds make it impossible to pass deep they could outrush them to a win

It's possible that Home Field advantage could turn into a disadvantage. I could see the Packers really struggling if it was cold, windy and snowing.

IDK...seems like kind of a pissy way to handle things considering two points: might be rooting for a team that becomes the first to go 19-0 and have a realistic shot at being the 1st to three-peat (do I owe someone money?) AND remembering how breezy he handled it when Lynn was being a bad sport.

Packers 46 - Raiders 16

Offense
  • Rodgers with his first game under a 100 QB rating all season. That's just amazing.
  • Was that a running game I saw?
  • The OL still let Rodgers get hammered too much.
  • Jennings hurt with a sprained MCL and will be out 2-3 weeks. Great news actually as he'll be good for the playoffs.
  • Good to see T Sherrod get to play. Missing the offseason really slowed his development and I hope that he gets more time as he's the heir to Clifton at LT and needs the work. He has noticeably improved since the beginning of the season.
  • Hopefully Saine's not out due to his concussion. He's turning out to be a nice surprise player. Just a quick burst on him and he's outstanding in space.

    Defense
  • The backup ILBs Smith and Francois had great games. Fantastic INTs by both of them.
  • Charles Woodson. Other than Reggie White I can't think of a better FA signing.
  • Good pressure all around by the defense. Forced a lot of hurries and poor throws.
  • Walden with the fumble recovery for a TD!

    Special Teams
  • Cobb again electric on returns.
  • How the heck do you miss an XP?

    The Raiders looked like a team that has given up. They are in a complete tailspin and the Pack spanked them as they should have. I would have been upset had they allowed the Raiders to hang around, but they didn't. Thirteen down and six to go.

    The Giants run game is dead last in the NFL @86 ypg. And Eli struggles with swirling winds as much as anyone.

    Even in difficult conditions the Saints have the best chance. Though the Giants have a chance but bad weather I think will hurt their chances more than the Pack.

    At this point, the Saints are the team that concerns me the most.  They can go score for score with the Pack.  Frankly, you have to be able to do that to have a chance.

    The Packers have a better 2ndary then the Saints, and I just get the feeling the officials will favor the Pack at home.

    The Giants would just lose by a wider margin in Lambau then they did in NY. The Packers will own the Falcons at home, Ryan is a bit over-rated. I think the Pack would have very little trouble with the 49ers. The Eagles still have Ried at HC, and the Pack would probably just be smart and run the ball enough to beat the Eagles, or Vick would do something stupid like he did last year in the playoffs, throwing a pick on 1st down.

    Actually, the only team that I could see upsetting the Pack in Lambau in the playoffs is the Cowboys. I think that would be a huge surprise, but it would probably take the officials doing a 'sway' in favor of the Cowboys. Neutral officiating and the Pack wins, officiating for the Pack and they blow out the Cowboys.

    Giants have the defense to slow the Pack enough.  And They don't fear playing juggernaut offenses...the Giants slew the beast When the Patriots went the SB undefeated...They have experience with this shit and they are getting on something of a role heading into the final three weeks/playoffs.

    There's a reason they say "any given Sunday". Every year the absolutely, most horrible team in the league, will still win a game, and be close in a few.

    They're still bad teams.

    The Packers will crush the Giants when it matters.

    The Saints are the one real hope to derail the Packers. They can do it, IMO. If those two teams played 10 times, the Saints would go 4-6

    I think Atlanta could also give the Packers a headache. Michael Turner. Roddy White, Julio Jones, Tony Gonzalez are all top flight threats.

    I think the Saints would have the best chance of beating the Packers, depending on the weather conditions. Drew Brees hardly turns the ball over and can put up points just as easily as Rodgers. Their defense may not be the best, but it creates turnovers just like the Packers and Brees will turn those into points.

    If the weather is crappy, I'd say the Falcons have the best chance. They've been hot lately and have a real chance of winning against the Packers. Falcons are great running the ball with Turner and have the WRs to still rack up points. Their defensive line can get to the QB and have a great head coach in Smith.

    I think the overall best team to have the greatest chance is Baltimore. Best defense in the NFL and a pretty good offense. Ray Rice can break one at any time. Flacco just has to play smart.
