However, I don't think NY is that much better a team. I think they're worse fundamentally. Eli Manning isn't great under pressure, but we barely pursued him. He throws a lot of bad passes, but we were unable to get an INT.
Brett Favre was surely a stinker tonight. He was not emotionally involved for much of the game. He provided very little leadership, preferring instead to huddle under his parka. There were a couple exciting passes, but they were big plays and we scored too soon to really gain any momentum. And for god's sake, why the conservative play calling on 3rd &15?? How many times have we watched this team go for short yardage on a long yardage situation? That was so damn frustrating. Other than that, I thought a lot of the game was actually rather boring.
Then there were the penalties. The questionable roughing-the-passer flag and then a couple offsides were particularly damaging, as they gave the Giants the entire drive. Packers would have won by default had it not been for that disastrous defensive stand.
Just an all-around bad game, though the Giants weren't that effective either. I think they sort of won by default, as the Packers would have. But NY did play a better game, and I respect them as a team. I will root for them in Super Bowl (which I probably won't watch).
How can you possibly criticize the officiating, and still look yourself in the mirror?
