Rizzo beat Morneau for the last All-Star spot. [:@]

That's a shame.
I don't worry about Morneau though.

Probably just as well. It would be nice to see Morneau entirely earn his way back unto the All Star team as a starter or second-stringer next season. The move away from the Twins was good for him as it was for Cruddyer and many others. And the Twins FO people seem to entirely dismiss this repeated occurrence as merely a coincidence. [&o]

Mr. Ed -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (7/10/2014 11:11:54 PM)

New York Yankees starter Masahiro Tanaka has a partially torn elbow ligament in his throwing arm, Yankees general manager Brian Cashman told reporters Thursday night. He will begin a rehabilitation process, but Tommy John surgery is not out of the question.

According to WFAN's Sweeni Murti, three doctors agreed Tanaka had a partial tear in his ulnar collateral ligament. He will now receive a platelet-rich plasma injection, begin rehab and hopefully return in about six weeks. But Murti reported that if Tanaka's rehab isn't successful, Tommy John surgery is "likely."

How did the Rangers get to be so bad so quickly? Their run differential of -99 is by far the worst in MLB (next is Houston at -73).

Sad news. You throw that many splitters and it often ends in injuries. Tanaka had a 4.1 WAR. The Yankees pitching staff has lost I believe 4 starters.

A large # of injuries. And losing Nelson Cruz.

Hopefully, gone by gametime!

Cleveland trying to remain relevant in the 2nd half:

The Indians announced that they have acquired outfielder Chris Dickerson from the Pirates in exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations. Dickerson’s contract will be selected for tonight’s game, and George Kottaras has been designated for assignment to create roster space.

With Manziel and LeBron in Cleveland, will the Indians be relevant any time soon?

I'm already nauseated at the media hype re: Lebron and Manziel. Imagine what October/November is going to be like!

Me too. I got into it about Manziel with my cousin's husband a couple of months ago at my aunt's 75th birthday party. I said, "Watch out for this guy. He can be Ryan Leaf part 2."

Well.....let's just say he did not agree. Didn't realize he was a Manziel guy[&o]
I wouldn't say we argued but we had an animated discussion and he was the one who was animated[&:]

It really looks like he's gonna be a bust (sorry SMF).

At this point I'm thrilled we got Bridgewater.

Brewers have lost 10 of 11. They suck.

ewen21 -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (7/11/2014 11:07:08 PM)

I hadn't seen this before but a really cool gesture by both Carlos Gomez and the Brewers:

WOW stat of the day:

King Felix is the first pitcher since Mike Scott in 1986 to go 11 consecutive starts with at least 7 IP and 2 ER or less.

That was one of the most hilarious endings I've seen. 3-2 count.

Strike 3 called on Punto.

It was maybe a bit high and inside.

Punto did his familiar bat-toss to take first (walk).

Nope!

Ump calls strike 3!

Soooooo sweet!

And I love the A's.

But my dislike for Punto runs deeper.

Mariners win, Punto K's to end the game. Punto throws his bat, showing up the ump. He woulda been tossed if the game wasn't over. Maybe he should be suspended instead? There's a great idea! I love this game!!! [&:][&:][&:][&:][&:][&:][&:][&:][&:][&:]

Thanks for that post. Now I have to open up my mlb.com account to watch that for a good laugh before I turn in for the night

ewen21 -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (7/11/2014 11:42:52 PM)

Punto should be abolished from the league.

Puig sure is an enigma. I'll leave it at that. What a weirdo.

He's gonna drive Mattingly to an early grave.

Eric Byrnes just said (and I agree) "that is the stupidest baserunning mistake I have ever seen. But I still love watching him."

Nice....
Because of our front office staff, we let a pretty decent all-star player slip away.
He surely would have been a great fit in our lineup daily in CF for many years to come.

The Twins way.....until they rid themselves of the current on-field staff, we will always be second-rate!

Sad, but True!

I really like Jeter but he is not even close to being on the same level in his sport as Jordan and Tiger.
