Felix is now Mariners strikeout King. Just passed Randy Johnson for most in Seattle history with 2,163 strikeouts.

In his first ever start at Coors Field in Denver, the Dodgers' Kenta Maeda has not given up a hit through five innings. The only pitcher to throw a no-no in Denver was Maeda's countryman Hideo Nomo.

Mr. Ed -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (4/23/2016 9:34:26 PM)

Don't hear much of this in the "mainstream" MN Fan base

Some Red Sox fans have already begun to whisper that Farrell should be fired in the wake of the club’s 8-9 start, which Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe considered to be very premature thinking. It’s rare for any team to fire a manager so early in a season, and Cafardo doesn’t think Farrell should be blamed so quickly given how the Sox have faced several pitching injuries.

8-9 and they're gonna fire the manager
8-9 here and the sheep would be planning parades

Jason Heyward's contract is DISGRACEFUL

And yet why should we care? The Cubs I'm sure don't as they're the best team in baseball right now.

I wasn't aware he was signed for that much. I don't care all that much, but contracts like that set precedents.
Agents for the next guy use contracts like his as bargaining tools.

Great comeback by the Stros
They're fun to watch.
Rasmus is becoming a force in the league.

Btw ... Astros are only 6-12, doubt they will fold their tents. [:D]

Yup. And they establish an even bigger barrier between the Twins talent and those of real ML teams.

The debate over whether baseball players should show more emotions on the field has dominated the game this season. Some believe flipping bats and reacting to big plays should be allowed. Others believe it's disrespectful to opponents.

No matter what you think about the issue, Detroit Tigers outfielder Tyler Collins probably took things too far during Monday's game against the Oakland Athletics.

In the top of the sixth inning, Collins misplayed a ball hit in the air to center. He appeared to lose the ball in the lights, and it fell in weakly in front of him. Fans booed Collins after the play, and he had an unfortunate response (his gesture is NSFW ... just a warning).

Stacey King -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (4/26/2016 8:11:55 AM)

MLB instant replays up 35 percent from this time a season ago.

the biggest difference between this season and last is a steep increase in manager challenges of baserunning calls. Last year, 46 percent of all replays were used to review forceouts and tag plays. This year, that percentage has jumped to 57 percent, with about 4 percent of the total coming from reviews of either takeout slides or the redefined "neighborhood play" under baseball's new sliding rules.

The other major reason for the increase in reviews is that managers are challenging calls more aggressively than ever before. Through Sunday, 92.8 percent of all reviews were initiated by manager challenges. That's up from 87 percent last year and 82.4 in 2014.

Andrew McCutchen has 3 HR tonight through 6 innings. He's looking to become the 1st Pirates player with a 4 HR game

And Meyer probably gets them Sunday, on nearly 2 weeks of not pitching.

Effing brilliant.

Molitor obviously doesn't trust him else he'd have been used at least one time in the bullpen.

So he isn't used at all.

Not advocating he'll be great or anything. Just does the guy a disservice, to call him up and not use him at all. he had to skip a AAA start, so he hasn't pitched in a game since the 20th.

So if he does go, it'll be Meyer vs Big Mike.

SoMnFan -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (4/28/2016 1:46:48 PM)

So you're telling me we have a chance ........
