Former ESPN broadcaster Curt Schilling told SiriuxXM’s Breitbart News Patriot Forum that his former employer has “some of the biggest racists” in sports media.

Schilling, 49, was fired from his position with ESPN on April 20 after posting an anti-transgender Facebook post.

“Some of the most racist things I’ve ever heard have come out of people that are on the air at ESPN,” Schilling said. “They’re some of the biggest racists in sports commentating.”

Schilling added comments regarding the “liberal agenda,” which he says was the only acceptable agenda to follow when going off the topic of sports at ESPN.

“The memo that was sent out more than once was about they wanted on air-talent to focus on sports,” Schilling said. “To me that means focus on sports unless you want to talk about something that is part of the liberal agenda.

“You listen to Stephen A. Smith, and Stephen A. Smith was the guy who said that Robert Griffin didn’t play quarterback for the Redskins because he’s black. No, Robert Griffin didn’t play quarterback for the Redskins because he [stunk]. … Tony Kornheiser compared the Tea Party to ISIS. I don’t know any planet where those are sports topics. But I don’t care. It’s OK. I think those conversations need to happen. But as soon as you go to the flip side, the right side, there are repercussions for not talking about sports.”

Hope he adjusts. I read that pitchers are working him over on the outside 1/2 of the plate.

Kids have to realize that their early success sets off a team of about 400 dudes, analyzing every tiny little detail of your game.
It aint as easy as some make it look.
Constant adjustments in order to stay ahead of the wolves trying to tear your game apart.

Trevor Story's amazing April continued Wednesday night when he hit his ninth homer of the month during the Colorado Rockies' game against the Pittsburgh Pirates. His fourth inning bomb broke the National League rookie record set by Albert Pujols in 2001.

Story's tremendous April came out of nowhere. He was in the mix to replace Jose Reyes while Reyes is on paid administrative leave, and he won the job after wowing the Rockies in spring training. He homered twice in his major league debut (off of Zack Greinke, no less), becoming just the sixth player in MLB history to do so. Story would go on to homer six times in his first four games, which was the first time ever a rookie had homered in his first four games. Since that blistering start, everyone has been watching Story closely.

Breaking Pujols' record wasn't the only history that Story made on Wednesday night. He struck out three times, which gives him 34 total through his first 20 games. That's the most strikeouts for any rookie ever to start a season. And there are still three more games in April! For context, Albert Pujols struck out 18 times in his first month while hitting one fewer home run.

With 34 strikeouts in 20 games, Story is on pace to strike out 138 times in 81 games. That would absolutely obliterate the current first half strikeout record for rookies, which is currently held by Houston Astros right fielder George Springer. Springer did it in 2014 with 112, and if Story continues at this rate, he'll beat Springer's record by 26 strikeouts.

Everyone wants power from young guys
With it comes strikeouts.
Many, many strikeouts.

Arrieta gets his 18th straight win.
Would be kinda nice to throw a guy out there .... pretty much knowing you're gonna win.
I believe those are called Aces.

Our leaders keep trotting them past us every year ... and we keep going ... "nope, that's not it"

Kind of insulting when they want you to think a 3 or a 4 is a 1.

Red Sox third baseman Pablo Sandoval will undergo surgery on his left shoulder, the club announced. He’s unlikely to return to action in 2016 after undergoing a “significant,” “reconstructive” procedure, according to reports from Peter Abraham of the Boston Globe (via Twitter) and ESPN.com’s Buster Olney (Twitter link).

Could wind up all-time bust.

BoSox get to recoup salary this year thru insurance.

The Giants will receive a chance to bring back Tim Lincecum. But they'll likely face competition.
Giants general manager Bobby Evans confirmed in a text message Sunday that his club will have a scout or representative present at Lincecum's pitching showcase -- which, MLB Network's Jon Heyman reported, will take place Friday in Scottsdale, Ariz., and may be televised on ESPN. Along with the Giants, the Dodgers, Padres, A's, Cubs, White Sox, Rangers, Astros, Marlins, Nationals and Orioles are expected to attend.

Lincecum will attempt to prove during his throwing session that he has sufficiently recovered from the left hip injury and subsequent surgery that ended his 2015 season prematurely. The two-time National League Cy Young Award winner and four-time All-Star has spent his entire professional career with the Giants organization since they selected him in the first round (10th overall) of the 2006 Draft. He became eligible for free agency after last season.

The 31-year-old Lincecum, who no-hit the San Diego Padres in 2013 and '14, finished 7-4 with a 4.13 ERA in 15 starts last year, moving his lifetime record to 108-83 with a 3.61 ERA in 269 Major League appearances (261 starts). Lincecum also has excelled in 13 postseason outings (six starts), compiling a 5-2 record with a 2.40 ERA.

While the Tigers aren’t ready to pull the plug on Mike Pelfrey’s rotation spot, GM Al Avila admitted that the club is concerned with the big righty’s early struggles, writes Peter J. Wallner of MLive.com. “Yeah, we are concerned because he has not pitched consistently,” said Avila. “This last outing, he did show some flashes of really, really good stuff, which is some of what scouts saw in him from previous years that we felt he could give us the innings we needed. All we need him to do is be a solid fifth starter and go five, five and two-thirds and every once in a while go six.”

Someone should tell Avila that Pelfrey was inconsistent in the past, too. Guess they missed those starts.

And, of course, Ryan is not sure they'll scout Lincecum, since the Twins have soooooooo many starting options [;)]

Phillies reliever Murray throws gas. Right out of college. The Burdi of the Twins, if the Twins were the Phillies.

Did you see the number of teams interested? No way Ryan is going to compete with them. Remember his MO is to wait out the free agency process and pick from the scrapheap all the never wases and has beens.

Lincecum might be a has been at this point, but with that many teams interested...no way Ryan makes a run at him.
