Tommy Milone's landing spot??

Los Angeles Angels ace Garrett Richards has a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow and is expected to need Tommy John surgery, a source with knowledge of the situation told Yahoo Sports.

The 27-year-old Richards, one of the hardest-throwing starters in the major leagues, would miss the remainder of the season and not return until the middle of 2017 should he undergo the procedure.

The tear was found Thursday, when the Angels scratched Richards from his scheduled Friday start citing dehydration and fatigue.

Wonder if Ryan actually contacted the Angels before putting Milone on waivers. At worst you get a player to be named later or a little cash out of Arte Moreno.

Zobrist hitting around .270 4 dingers w/Cubs at 2nd and some OF.

Type of veteran the Twins avoid but needed.

Mr. Ed -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (5/6/2016 3:23:07 PM)

More reason to think Milone to Angels is possible

Andrew Heaney has some damage to the ligament and is hoping to rehab and avoid the same surgery at this time. That's the UCL, so they "hope" he won't need TJ Surgery.

Black 47 -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (5/6/2016 3:44:10 PM)

So Milone gets to win the cy young for Anaheim.

Ties Joe Mauer (the Twins hitting star) in that category for the 2016 season.

Black 47 -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (5/8/2016 8:14:04 PM)

I loved the ESPN graphic of other notable players with one HR with Mauer at the top. ESPN must still not realize that's the norm with Mauer. About one a month.

He's got us so accepting of it ... I actually hadn't even given it a thought
He literally hits about the same number as a decent-hitting pitcher does.

Takes time
I used to be impatient too.
There are guys who get it right away
They are special
Not everyones special
Its a process for MOST good players.
Will always remember TK going off one night ... "anyone who calls any player a bust before his 1,000th at-bat ... is a moron"
After that, say what you want about his ability. It is what it is. It takes time.

Or a second-string catcher on a normal ML team.

Tigers have dropped 6 straight [:-]
We must have softened them up [:D]
Yanks out big on the Royales.
Yanks started as badly as we did .. but no panic there.

SoMnFan -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (5/9/2016 8:27:37 PM)

actually feels like the White Sox could push the Royales this year
Will be fun to watch

SoMnFan -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (5/9/2016 9:01:25 PM)

In his return from suspension, Aroldis Chapman finished out the Yankees' 6-3 win by firing his first four pitches 100-MPH or better. He topped out at 101 and struck out two, while allowing one run.

Strasburg and the Nats agree to a big extension deal.
Another team who understands ... its just money.

Huge bloated contracts only hurt your team ... if your owner allows that huge bloated contract to hamstring other deals.
And your owner uses it as an excuse to never upgrade again.
If that's the case ... THEN you have a problem.

uh-oh.

SoMnFan -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (5/9/2016 9:33:08 PM)

Hicks with another homer for the Yanks
Funny how even 1-3 nights raise that average slowly. [&:][&:]

Extra drama:

In a move that has drastically altered next winter’s free-agent market, the Nationals have reportedly agreed to a seven-year, $175MM extension with righty Stephen Strasburg.

It's what happens when you don't pitch to him (get that Twins?) in close situations.
