Once "we're set" there is minimal effort to improve in areas.

The kids in the OF can use a break. A real very good vet bat would be a good fit.

Analytics have taken over all front offices and none are going to give LONG YEARS and BIG MONEY to guys on the back half of their career. Just not going to happen anymore. they want appropriate value and they are wanting shorter terms so they aren't locked in for the better part of a decade into an aging player outside of the steroid era.
