My point in all of these rants .... is that we have always, and now it seems always will ..... IMMEDIATELY disqualify ourselves every time a player comes up.
Why NOT look at McCutcheon?
There is no logical WHY NOT.

We are not broke
We are not overloaded with "too many good guys"
We are not "set", anywhere, imo.

And I've been using all these teams WHO ARE BETTER THAN US as examples of ...... you never stop improving your team.
Fer chrissakes, the WS champions are making more moves than anyone.
Obviously their fans don't hyperventilate the way ours do, when theres a hint that a dollar or two might be wasted ...... [&o]

Josh Harrison wants out of Pittsburgh now.
Darn, too bad we are so loaded.
No room for better players, sorry.

Such dumb asses

Content to rotate the DH and use Robbie effing Grossman too much.

Stand

But ... but ... but ...... look at the pics Ed!
Fans just LOVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVe Robbie.

Playoffs start next year, Twins get lucky enough to get to that wonderful one game winner-take-all again ....
Hey Matt ..... bases loaded, 1 out, in the 8th, tie game ....
YOU get to bat Grossman.
I'D have McCutcheon take that at-bat.

Maybe you and the Pohlads can hang out and spend that 12 mil they saved, once that game ends.

Standing Pat is this org's mantra.

Once "we're set" there is minimal effort to improve in areas.

The kids in the OF can use a break. A real very good vet bat would be a good fit.

Would take some pressure off.

Who knows with the chunky ladies' man as well? he hit dingers but was atrocious striking out. Another real producer would help there.

But what the heck. Everyone's going to get better in MN Twins Fantasy World, so there's nothing to worry about.

The Twins made it to a wild-card game last season so they have already arrived.

You know, McCutcheon has had cornrows in the past.......just too much African in African American.

We don't like out catchers to be Latin.

We don't want our players to be too African.

In football, the hair can be hidden with a helmet.

Baseball, not so much.

We used to think the racism in MN Twins was due to TR and Gardy. Maybe it's Jimmy.

It is amazing that our fans are worried about whether or not the Pohlads spend too much. Kinda like the white trash who are out cheering rallies for tax plans that give a trillion dollars to the wealthy and a pittance to the lower middle class.

Mr. Ed -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (1/22/2018 8:35:47 PM)

Giants sign Austin Jackson

Geez, after picking up McCutchen and having hunter pence and others, you'd thing they'd be satisfied with having enough OFs

Perfect post IMO
It's so ingrained, "fans" actually DO worry about the poor Pohlads sounding too much.
Bizarro World.
Why in the hell should we care if they overspend once in awhile?
Sell the damn team if you're paranoid

Mr. Ed -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (1/23/2018 10:41:49 AM)

I saw on Twitter that Pohlad said they're interested in Darvish

If the price is right.

Well, that ends that. Such losers. About time to cut the cord of investment with this crap too.

I think the Twins FO is invested into resigning Joe Mauer for another five seasons to play out his career until about age 40. It wouldn't surprise me in the least if they give him another $100 million over five seasons and maybe four seasons with a fifth year option. That is where the big money will go. He sells tickets and he will give the team another home-town discount.

5 years/100 mill for Joe's production at this age would be ludicrous.

And something I could see Jimmy P getting behind.

What a dope of a "main owner".

I am totally serious Ralph, the Twins will extend Mauer.

The Hall of Very Good has expanded

The Baseball Writers Association of America on Wednesday elected Chipper Jones, Vladimir Guerrero, Jim Thome and Trevor Hoffman to the National Baseball Hall of Fame.
Jones (who appeared on 97.2 percent of ballots) and Thome (89.8 percent) will go into Cooperstown as first-ballot Hall of Famers.
Guerrero (92.9 percent) will be enshrined in his second year of eligibility. Hoffman (79.9 percent) was on the ballot for the third time.

Of course, MN has all the cards hidden. Right? [&o]

Rays right-hander Chris Archer says he does not expect he’ll be traded this winter, according to a report from Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times. Per Archer, Tampa Bay GM Neander has “made me feel pretty good about being with the Rays in 2018.”

Mr. Ed -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (1/25/2018 3:16:18 PM)

This MLB offseason has been notable for its inaction in free agency, with many star players still unsigned just weeks before pitchers and catchers are set to report.

Many of those players are represented by Scott Boras, who, in a telephone interview with The Athletic, criticized franchises for skimping on payrolls despite healthy revenues and losing to get better draft picks and higher monetary allotments to sign those players.

"I do my job. I care for my clients. I am spending every waking hour trying to bring attention to owners so they act with integrity," Boras told The Athletic. "Certainly I want them to sign my clients. But I'm trying to get them to act with integrity. Winning is the cement of baseball integrity."

"We kicked people out of the game when they tried to not win," Boras continued, referring to the Black Sox scandal, in which baseball banned eight members of the 1919 Chicago White Sox after they were accused of intentionally losing the World Series. "We have to get rid of the noncompetitive cancer. We can't go to our fan bases and sell the promise of losing to win later. That is destructive to our sport because it has removed one-third of the competition."

Yeah right Scott....trying to get franchises to pay players max money many years after best years is what the problem is. They aren't going to do it any more.

AROD
Pujols
Ellsbury
Etc.

TJSweens -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (1/25/2018 3:22:54 PM)

Bore-Ass is full of shit. Teams have figured out that ridiculous contracts don't lead to winning. They are figuring out what brings the best return on investment. Over paying his clients apparently is historically not a great bang for the buck move.

He was afraid to go with the collusion card, so he went Black Sox scandal first.

Collusion will be next.

What a crock of shit! All Bore-ass cares about is the millions of dollars in commissions he makes every off-season representing FA players. Apparently, he hasn't made his normal $30 million++++ yet so he is frustrated and especially so with the much lower federal income tax rates that began January 1, 2018.

BINGO!!!!

Analytics have taken over all front offices and none are going to give LONG YEARS and BIG MONEY to guys on the back half of their career. Just not going to happen anymore. they want appropriate value and they are wanting shorter terms so they aren't locked in for the better part of a decade into an aging player outside of the steroid era.

What I want to know is why did it take them so long to figure this out when I/we have been commenting on it for over a decade?

twinsfan -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (1/26/2018 8:16:12 AM)

How much are the Brewers paying Lorenzo Cain?

They also traded 4 prospects for Yelich. What a day for them!

Kerry, are you pretty excited about these moves for the Brewers?

I'd maybe be a Brewers fan if I lived halfway between the Twin Cities and Milwaukee. They want to compete!
