Minnesota Lynx's Rout Of Seattle Storm An Example Of Near-Perfect Basketball Harmony

In contrast, the Lynx were quietly playing balanced, efficient, team basketball. All five Lynx starters contributed to their first 11 points. In getting out to an early 7-0 lead, the Lynx had a Moore three, a putback off an offensive rebound by Taj McWilliams-Franklin, and a Seimone Augustus jumper. Their 11th point came on a free throw by Brunson. Not that the second half really mattered much, but the Lynx shot 70% in the third quarter continuing to play balanced basketball even as the rout was in full effect.

Despite the scoring flow, the Minnesota Lynx truly outplayed the Storm from start to finish again. And although they got out played in garbage time, they didn't allow the Storm to cut the lead down to single digits as they did in the first game of the season.

What makes the Lynx great this season is strikingly similar to what made the Storm historically good last season: a balanced, versatile starting lineup led by a strong post player, strong wing play and an elite point guard. The big difference is depth that means they don't need dominant performances from any one player to win games. Every player plays to their strengths and complements one another almost to perfection.

It's not at all common to see a WNBA team play basketball as fluidly as the Lynx did last night without a lead ball handler with above average efficiency. But what the Lynx did last night shows just how dynamic and versatile a team they can be on both ends of the ball with everyone working together as a team and filling in blanks when key players have sub-par nights.

It's a beautiful brand of basketball that is quite likely still hitting its peak.

Right now there seems to be a genuine team first mentality. Egos are being checked at the door. Maya Moore did not come in looking to be treated like the chosen one. Nine times out of ten a player like her is made the focal point right away and force fed the ball. Instead she is looking to do a little of everything and compliment the other all stars on the team. Simone Augustus is reminding everyone just how good she was before her knee injury and cancer surgery. She's back. Whalen keeps running the show and making everyone around her better. I think McWilliams Franklin has been a huge piece of the puzzle too. She is still a top flight center, but more importantly is all about sacraficing self for the team. This is a team starting to come together in a big way with certain players just scratching the surface of what they can be.

Augustus didn't have any cancer surgery.

I thought she had her entire uturus removed due to cancerous or precancerous growths.

Lynx fell behind by a lot in the first half and at last check were making a comeback. The problem is the Lynx can't shoot straight today and Silver Stars are shooting the lights out. If they can come back to win this one on the road against what appears to be their main rival it would be massive.

Another reason we are behind is that our bench only has three points for the game well into the third quarter.

Fell behind by 12 at halftime took the lead in the third and held on for a one point win with a last second shot Whalen. Whalen had a huge game with the game winner and 23 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists, and four steals. Low scoring defensive game, but now the Lynx have some breathing room leading the Silver Stars by two games. Phoenix and San Antonio will visit the lynx Tuesday and Thursday respectively to cut into the lead or the Lynx can lock things up.

When I started reading this, I got nervous as if I was actually watching it. It was a good win

I thought she had her entire uturus removed due to cancerous or precancerous growths.

No she wasn't dealing with any uterine cancer issues but uterine fibroids which are non-cancerous tumors. They are very common in women after their 30's. So she is on the young side to have to deal w/them to this extent. Some women don't know they have them as they may remain small and/or never cause any issues. They can shrink in size after menapose. But for some, as in her case they can become very large. Her's grew since college and suddenly started causing her great pain and did some damage to the uterus she said in an article, so she did have what is viewed by some as a partial hysterectomy (removal of just the uterus)
I know you guys sure aren't use to this kind of conversation on sport msg boards oh the things we women have to deal with

Lynx up 20-15 after 1.

Thankfully the pink unis are pretty desaturated. It would be hard to watch if they matched their headbands.

After a lackluster 2nd and 3rd quarters, Lynx have just cranked it up on both ends. Lead up to 16 and just smothering PHX on defense.

And a tight game through 3 turns into a rout as we hold the #1 scoring team in the league to 19 points below their average.

Lynx in another low scoring nail biter with San Antonio. One point behind with 1:45 to go. I was hoping we could handle them at home better than this.

Lynx ball up by one 24 seconds to go. Just forced a desperation shot by the Stars. if we scored within 25 points of our average this game would already be locked up.

Stars tie the game on three free after Augustus leap at the three point shooter. Lynx go up by two with a taj shot from the FT line with 1.3 to go. One tenth of a second earlier than Whalen's shot in the last matchup. Now up four games on the Stars and just about have the west locked up.

The Silver Stars are definitely a tough match up. We have struggled twice in a row against their defense. I was hoping the Lynx would establish a little more upper hand with a rematch at home.

Me too but the good thing about it is that we hit game winners with one second to go both times. Learning how to win games like this.
