It's about time Wiggins stepped up in these playoffs.

She really seemed to struggle adapting back to a bench role this year. And coming off the injury probably didn't help. But she has the ability to be a perennial 6th woman of the year award winner (which she won in 08).

With Lindsay out Wiggins came in and came up HUGE. MVP of this game a tossup between Wiggins and Augustus.

Awesome.
Take their soul early in the series.
There are some real killers on this team. They go for the throat. Love it.
9 pt leads become 16, in a hurry.

I wish the other teams in MN felt that way.

Who ever would've thought that the Lynx would be the most entertaining game in town?

Taj is just ageless.

She beats everyone up and down the floor, she dives for the ball. Hasn't missed a game in 4 years and still plays 30 minutes a night.

Have to agree. Amazing at 40 years old. She has a season or two left I think.

41 in a month. But she's the absolute key to our defense. She totally cuts off the lane and allows our wings to gamble. You could easily argue that without Taj, we would be the Phoenix Mercury.

Alexis Hornbuckle, the human victory ciger enters the game and scores.

Now let's see them win it all. It was good for them to have those two tough games with San Antonio I think. They learned what it takes to win in the playoffs.

Admittedly, I don't watch BB in general but I watched most of this game to see how the woman's game looks.  Pretty entertaining but one general question.

I know of Geno Auriemma because of SportsCenter and nothing else.  Is he really a condescending prick towards women in general or was that playful banter last night?

I didn't pick up on it Jeff. Auriemma is an incredibly successful women's coach and a pretty big proponent of the women's game, so I would doubt that.

He's the head coach at UConn, and one of the all-time great coaches in women's basketball. He took over a UConn team in 1985 that had recorded 1 winning season in its entire history and has since won 7 National Championships - including 6 of the past 11. He's won six Naismith College Coach of the Year awards.

He was Maya Moore's college coach.

He has the highest winning % in women's college basketball history, and is 1 championship behind Pat Summit. His teams have 4 of the 6 undefeated seasons in Women's NCAA history.

He's the current coach of the USA Basketball Women's National Team, and will be their coach for the 2012 Olympics.

I didn't think he was condescending towards women, but he clearly doesn't like the physical style of play that the WNBA has adapted. He's an "old school" guy that prefers clean, finesse basketball and he hates all the complaining that players do now.

I thought he was very complimentary of the Lynx, and he called out the Mercury when they started getting really chippy.

I know his resume guys from watching ESPN.  I've just never paid attention to what he says.  I forget exactly what he said to Rebecca Lobo during the 1/2 time coverage but she looked at him and basically roller her eyes.  I know she played for him so I wonder if it was playful banter between the 2.

I wish I could remember because I was like "holy-S, he really said that??".

Auriemma can certainly come off as a prick but so can a lot of coaches.

Sweet finish to a nerve-wracking series.
Its like these women "get it".
They got fed up with an inferior opponent staying with them, and put them away.
Fun to se them move on.
Pretty talented group. Lots of respect from opposing coaches and players about how good they can be.

My observation
In the 1st round against the San Antonio Silver Star:, SASS plays a tenuous style of defense and the Lynx had to get rid of some jitters and make adjustments in how they were playing. The 1st 2 games were played with Whalen in attack mode which was a continuation of the end of the regular season. And because of the matchup Augustus had, she was breaking SASS defense down with isolation plays.

So, yes they barely won the 1st game & lost the 2nd at SA; but their post-game comments let me know they figured it out and would adjust. The problem was, with Lindsay & Seimone in attack mode, the rest of the team was standing around too much, not active enough, they weren’t playing team ball at all. Took them 2 games but they needed Lindsay to go back to “distribution mode”, run the offense & look for her shot when need be. They made the adjustment, she’s done her job masterfully getting everyone involved & not needing to score 20 pts. Team wise they’ve locked in and upped the defensive intensity and are back to plying “Lynx basketball” at the right time
