How do the Lynx vs. Dream matchups look? Did they get in because the league MVP got hurt for Indiana?

My thoughts :

Atlanta is very quick on the perimeter with PG Harding 5-8 running the show & Armintie Price 5-9, Castro Marques & their best players Angel McCoughtry both about 5-11/6 ft. The Lynx aren’t as quick w/Whalen, Augustus & Moore but they are taller. Wiggins, Hornbuckle & Wright if she comes out of her round 2 slump will be quickness the Lynx can use to counter with. It will be ATL quickness vs. MN height & physicality. I’d look for the Lynx to post up some on the Dream guards. The Dream will drive to the hole lots and look to get to the line. At times they will make the Lynx look slow from time to time if the Dream get going off of some steals or long rebounds but I have every confidence the Lynx will adjust and handle things over the course of the series.

As for the post; Taj has a big edge in experience and Brunson knows how to play the boards. Lynx will need Jess Adair to continue her aggressiveness. Would be nice if the 6-6 rookie Amber Harris could shake some of her passiveness give some good mins. Dream are missing their biggest physical presence in the paint, on her way back from helping Brazil qualify for the Olympics next summer to that is way ATL will start small. 6-4 Sancho Lyttle is kind of Brunson like, she’s had some injury issues but they will need her to step up. They have 6-7 A. Bales who offensively is more comfortable shooting from outside then playing down low – go figure? They also have 6-3 Sandora Irvin #3 overall pick/bust from 2005 who is inconsistent and Courtney Paris who is maybe 6-2 and not the impact player she was in college at Oklahoma. But she will bulldoze her way around the paint.

I can admit to being a homer. But it’s because what the Lynx have done so well all season is figure out in time how to make adjustments to pull-off if not take over games. If/when they should lose a game in this series I don’t expect them to lose back to back games (happened only once this season). It won’t be easy because Atlanta earned the right to be here, but I expect the Lynx win the title, however long it takes.

GO LYNX !

Enjoy your stuff minnyme.
You've been one of the lone rangers supporting this group.
Congrats. Hope you don't mind the bandwagon-jumpers like me. I'm enjoying this run. Go girls.

Brunson carried us
Whalen and Augustus picked it up when we needed someone to ....
Very solid TEAM.
All this, and Moore is being allowed to get her feet wet.

Assists 22-11. Better moving the ball around.
FG% 46%-37%. Better defense.

The score was not indicative of how difficult the game was. Here's the box score:

http://scores.espn.go.com/wnba/boxscore?gameId=311002008

The Lynx also had the advantage of blocks, with more than one of them coming from Maya Moore. She didn't score a lot, but her +/- was a +23, (the best on the team) which means she was playing well on the defensive side of the ball. The Lynx shooting advantage, I thought was a result of their making the extra pass to get the easier basket out of the half court. Atlanta struggled more in their half court offense where Minnesota played very tough team defense. A lot of Atlanta's points came as a result of the fast break. Perhaps, those fast breaks came with a toll as they obviously seemed to tire down the stretch. Being without one of their starters might have contributed to that too.

The Lynx got a lift when McWilliams-Franklin came back into the game. She clearly was a steadying force on behalf of the team.

Same thoughts.
I'm hanging my entire sports-being on a group of young women I barely know.
I'm pathetic.
But I'm taking what I can get.

I live in arizona now but I was in town visiting family. my daughter and I left the renaissance festival just in time to made it to the links game. I have to admit I was nervous when we're behind by 12 points.the Maya Moore Reverse layup have to be seen to be believed. We played about as bad as we could and still won by 14 points. Anybody wants to see them play wednesday will probably be your last chance I recommend getting your tickets in advance they might sell out.

A take from someone at the game:

quote:

Alright had a chance to sleep. So here it goes...
If you didn’t actually have anything going on last night and decided it wasn’t worth it to make the trip to Target Center ….um, yeah that was a bad call.

The place was rocking. The game was better than scripted and joy was ubiquitous. Props to Brunson for just keeping us going all night long. Tied up going into the 4th quarter and then we go on a 13-0 run. If you weren’t there you missed something. That’s all I can really say. You missed something. I’ll remember the pure joy of that run for the next 10 years whenever someone mentions the Lynx.

Whalen went into beast mode to start the quarter. She’s coming across the lane, splits two defenders, draws contact and finishes for the and 1. On the other end she blocks the next shot and ties it up resulting in a jump ball. She wins the jumps ball. Hits the next jumper. Helps force a bad pass TO on the other end. She does miss the next jumper, but the Lynx get a couple offensive boards and keep possession. She takes a seat having played 2 minutes and 25 seconds that completely changed the momentum and tone of the game. Atlanta couldn’t get a shot off for most the quarter turning the ball over again and again and getting blocked 4 times.

It was basically the opposite of every Wolves 4th quarter meltdown except in this case not everyone knew it was going to happen. If there was any bad basketball mojo left in Target Center consider it exercised.

It was great to see the Lynx find their game in time to win the opener. Hopefully this leads to a better performance from the start. This will be important as the dynamic changes for the rest of the series with 6-6 Ericka DeSouza returning.

Hey all bandwagon jumpers, johnny come latelys and fair weather fans are welcome. It's all good.

I'm just glad at least a few more people are coming around to appreciate some of the best female basketball players in the world. I know it's not high flying like the men's game but at its highest level, involving some of the very best its sport has to offer, the women's game can be enjoyable to watch. Especially when your own team is involved.

This team is really, really special and for a long time, diehard fan to experience a season like this is beyond words. Kind of washes away or makes it easy to forget about all the years of watching bad Lynx teams with poor coaching, bad trades, and perpetual lottery picks, some that didn't work & so on. This is the type of run every invested sports fan dreams of for their favorite team. Having a blast with this team so I’m ok with sharing them
