Lynx whup the Mercury 85-63 in game 1. Diana Taurasi picks up a technical for kissing Simone Augustus during a shoving match.

There were no T's given just a double foul. But now that I looked at what happened, Seimone shouldn't have gotten a foul.
But the Lynx took care of business and should send the Mercury fishing after Sundays game.

This game was complete domination and a 1st half defensive clinic by the Lynx. Love this team

Great game and what a great crowd

Lynx have the best crowd in the WNBA - and probably the best crowd in Minnesota sports....

All in all if Taurasi wants to go that way it is only a plus for the Lynx. There was an article in the paper on how Reeves thinks Augustus is too nice out there some times and that wants her to play pissed off more often. If Psycho wants to piss her off like that it's fine with me.

Yeah, DT maybe just smart enough to know, her team can't hang w/the Lynx so she'll just try mind games.

Here's the article:
http://www.startribune.com/sports/lynx/225285022.html

quote:

" 'Mone is not good until she gets pissed off," Reeve said. " 'Mone is a lover, not a fighter. So if she can, she’ll want everybody to have fun. You have to find something to piss her off. And If I have to be the one to piss her off, I don’t care. Because a pissed off Seimone, a motivated Seimone, is a really good player. And I’ll take one for the team if I have to."

Some post gm articles :

http://www.wnba.com/lynx/news/gamerecap_lynx_mercury_2013_09_26.html

quote:

"We look at Rebekkah Brunson as our defensive anchor," Augustus said. "She's had some of the toughest assignments being matched up on Candice Dupree and sometimes Brittney Griner. (It) just kind of ignited us tonight."

http://espn.go.com/wnba/story/_/id/9729825/wnba-playoffs-minnesota-lynx-sprint-phoenix-mercury-game-1

quote:

Minnesota played well defensively. The Lynx held Phoenix to 34.3 percent shooting for the game, kept Brittney Griner contained (13 points, four rebounds), forced 18 turnovers (leading to 24 Lynx points) and kept Bonner and Dupree very, very quiet.

http://wnbalien.com/2013/09/28/wnba-today-09272013-dream-hold-off-fever-as-defense-disappears-out-east-mercury-kiss-cheeks-while-lynx-kick-ass-in-west/

quote:

... Minnesota were also well aware that while the talk may have surrounded Phoenix’s improvements, they’ve just been consistently good for three years. Sometimes the ‘new’ draws a lot of attention without acknowledgement that there’s something still hanging around that’s been better all along.

Dream is up on the Fever by 7 early in the fourth. Who would we rather play. Dream who has revenge factor in play against us or Fever to avenge our loss from last year?

It will be another chance for us to Sweep the Dream in the finals. Lynx up ten on Phoenix early in the fourth. Maya Moore really lighting it up. Augustus just behind. Whalen can't buy a basket but as of now it doesn't matter.

Monica Wright is playing out of her mind tonight. She's frustrating the shit out of McCautry on defense and attacking and scoring and getting to the line on offense.

The game so far is a demolition. The Lynx have decisively won the first three quarters.

And it continues in the fourth...

Moore has 23 on 10 / 15 so far. Contrast that to McCoughtry who has 17 on 6 / 24.

Great game, great crowd. Starters were being pulled with over 6 minutes remaining.

I think the Wolves should use Maya until Chase returns.

Keep Maya as far away from the Wolves as possible.

They are playing sloppy to start the second half. Better take a break and collect themselves…

Angel just intentionally picked up her 6th foul with 4 minutes left to get out of the game.

Leaving aside the one game “series” in 1997, there have been four previous occasions when a team won Game 1 of the finals by 10+ points. Only one of them managed to win Game 2. Two of the four went on to lose the series, including the only other team to win Game 1 by 20+ points. No team has ever won both Game 1 and Game 2 of the finals by double digits.

Until now...
