When you become the leagues premiere team, you will get everyone's best game every time out.
It's why I've always respected the types who could play for the Yankees, the Red Sox, the lakers, the celtics, etc ....
You bring it every day or you will get your ass handed to you.
I'm betting the Lynx will respond nicely.

We need to find defense somewhere. This business about letting teams shoot 41% from 3 ON THE SEASON needs to stop.

And Maya has no legs on her jumper. Hope she's just tired and not hurting.

Liston and White with back-to-back 3s to cut it to 12 with 11 seconds left in the 3rd.

Taurasi is playing Point for the Mercury and Griner is looking ready to dominate now. We won the 3rd quarter by 5 but still down 14 entering the 4th. It is going to be very hard to win this game and very hard to repeat.

Our lack of moving off the ball is atrocious. The only thing uglier is our unawareness on defense,

Taurasi often plays PG - she's 5th in the league in assists.

Griner is killing us whenever McCarville sits down. Griner still really struggles against size, but she can exploit us when we go small.

At least we won the second half both third and fourth quarters. We got Monica back. Some silver linings.

Cut it to 8 with 1:01 left. Our final run has come with 4 starters on the bench.

Looking like a second straight game of spotting a team 20 and not being able to claw all the way back.

Phoenix can't score, but we can't take advantage. 14-3 run, still down 6 with 30 to go.

That's one major key to me, ball movement.

Starting the season as they did down 1 all-star post, leagues best 6th woman and the 1st post off the bench, was superhuman. As we've noted the starters have played huge mins & I think it's starting to catch up to them But 8-3 for the 1st 1/3 of the season I'll take.

They are now 2 games in (0-2) on a 6 games in 10 day stretch And starting with this LA game, 4 games in 6 days (in 3 cities)
Phx was sitting here waiting for the Lynx to get back from ATL and they will be sitting around relaxing waiting for the Lynx again who will pllay them on 2nd nite of back to back from LA. Can't get much crazier then this

I had this pegged as the worst stretch of the season. In the long run I think the team will figure things out and get back on track but this is going to be a taxing week.

Dev making her return is helpful and bigger help was the return of Monica on Sunday. Likely her PT may be limited to some degree but she was moving well and showed in her brief time on court that they were mising their best perimeter defender. Any mins she can give will be helpful.

Good news is, get thru this stretch and come July they'll play like 8 of 11 at home.

Redemptions – Lynx destroy LA sharks 94-77 and it wasn’t even that close.

http://www.wnba.com/games/20140617/MINLAS/gameinfo.html

The defense was active early and it set the tone. Maya broke out with a very efficient performance of 31 pts on 12-16 from the field (3-6 3’s) 4 rbs, 4 asst & 4 stls. So all is right in the universe ….. for 1 night at least.

Good to see all of the starters play less than 30 minutes. This is going to be a grind and it is key that Peters and Wright are back to lighten the burden on the starting 5. It does look like Wright needs to knock a little rust off her game, but if she can at least come in and play some good defense and give the wings a breather in the short term it will be a big help.

It helps that the Sparks are an absolute mess and play the most disinterested brand of ball I've seen in a long time.

They look like a team that is trying to get their coach fired.

Man do I want some revenge against the Mercury tonight. It is on the road and a back to back. It would be huge but a loss and the Mercury pass us in the West.
