Ricky, I wonder if Diggs had scored on that play, and then the officials noticed the 12th man, where would the ball have been spotted, or would an unsportsmanlike call have negated the INT ?

The INT would have NOT been negated, as the foul was post-possession. The penalty yardage would have been marked from where Diggs was when the foul occurred, the moment 52 stepped on the field. Apparently Seattle only had 10 players on the field initially, but I believe you can not enter the field of play after the snap.

I saw the Twitter still photo that showed Seattle having 10 players, but I think there may have been a safety deeper that wasn't in that photo. I ran the video and counted 11 players, but it was a challenge with all the players moving.

Was just curious how they might rule that. One person on Twitter said the INT wouldn't count, that the play wouldn't count as the player coming on the field like that would be ruled an unsportsmanlike conduct, or something like that, negating the play.

ARTICLE 8. PENALTIES FOR ILLEGAL SUBSTITUTION OR WITHDRAWAL. Penalties are:

(b) For a substitute entering the field during a live ball: Loss of five yards.

(c) For interference with the play by a substitute who enters the field during a live ball: Palpably unfair act. See 12-3-4

ARTICLE 4. ILLEGAL SUBSTITUTIONS. If a substitute enters the field of play or the end zone while the ball is in play, it is an illegal substitution. If an illegal substitute interferes with the play, it may be a palpably unfair act (see 12-3-4).

Penalty: For a palpably unfair act: Offender may be disqualified. The Referee, after consulting the officiating crew, enforces any such distance penalty as they consider equitable and irrespective of any other specified code penalty. The Referee may award a score. See 19-1-3.

ARTICLE 1. GOVERNING PROVISIONS. The general provisions of Rule 14 govern all spots of enforcement, except for specific enforcements designated elsewhere in these rules.

ARTICLE 3. ENFORCEMENT SPOT NOT GOVERNED. When the spot of enforcement is not governed by a general or specific
rule, it is the spot of the foul.

I could find nothing specific to this particular play in the rule book.

Interesting Ricky. So that would be some sort of interpretation judgement call ?

If there was a deep safety he must have lined up about 40 yards deep, as he never gets into the video, even during the runback, and there were no deeper routes than the receiver Diggs was on.

Oh I don't think so. Probably would of had to be influencing the play in some way. This guy didn't look like he did much of anything but look silly.

A decent night for the QB I would have drafted with the Vikings 1st round pick, Kenny Pickett, I think he has potential.

And I think Pickett would do even better in KOC's system.

I would have gone with either WR Christian Watson or WR Goerge Pickens in the 2nd round, both have lots of potential.

The bigO, if you watch the video, there are 5 on the line and 5 back, pause at 4 seconds, where there should be 2 guys back in coverage, there are 3, so thar would be 11.

Was there a statement from the team saying there were only 10 on the field at the time ?

I would say the rule for the spot of enforcement would be the same as say on a KO return, for a block in the back, the spot of enforcement is where the kick returner is as the block in the back occurs. I don't believe the spot of enforcement as the spot of the foul would apply, because what if the spot of the foul is 20 yards ahead of the returner?

Pretty sure there were 11 there bigO. At 2 seconds pause, and you see 8 guys, the guys rushing, and the guys in the middle. At 4 seconds, you see 3 in coverage, for a total of 11.

The safety only needed to be 15 yards back to not be in the picture at the start of the video. It shows 10, but it only goes 10 yards past the line of scrimmage

At least Kwesi sort of made up for the draft with Z and Hock.

I like the idea of using much of the draft for offense, and filling needs of the defense with FA.

Yeah you're right my bad, the missing safety was the other guy around the ball when Diggs intercepted it.

Spot of the foul for guy entering the field seems wrong to me. But i cant find anything specific in the rule book. These things aint written for dummies

KG, have you seen Watson play ?

The one game fluke, turned into a 2 game fluke, and now a 3 game fluke.

Watson is big and very fast, a stud in the making, unless he doesn't stay healthy. I wish the Vikings would have drafted him, and paired him with JJ for the next 5 years.

He had a TD and over 100 yards against the Eagles. So that is 6 TDs in 3 games.

Kid is looking like an absolute stud so far.

12 receptions, 265 yards, 22 YPC, 6 TDs in the past 3 games.

6'5, 200 lbs, 4.36 40, 38.5 Vertical.

Supposedly a good kid and teammate as well. And he's still quite raw with a lot more upside.

I'd be thrilled to have him as the heir apparent to Thielen.

He has Megatron type measurables. If he can stay healthy and continue to learn route running and improving his hands he will be a stud.

If Jameson Williams is as advertised, Kwesi handed a stud wr to two div foes while drafting bums with the acquired draft capital. Not a good look.

I'm not concerned with Watson or Williams at all. You guys are welcome to your concern. It's a shame that the players we got have not worked out well so far. Injuries can't be predicted. Booth did have some injury history and that's why we got him as late as we did.

It's possible that Detroit feeling like they fleeced Kwesi on draft day, setup Kwesi fleecing them with Hock.

Hopefully Green Bay feels the same way with Watson, then Kwesi can trade up with GB on draft day to get the Vikings a young, franchise QB.

Hoping either the Rams or Dolphins (at Miami), can knock GB out of the playoffs, it may come down to GB and Detroit for the final seed.

If it goes down to that, IF they tie in head to head, does it go by point differential head to head, or is the next tie breaker something else ?

I am thinking the Giants could fade, they play some tough teams. They play at Washington and at Minnesota the next 2 weeks. Philly could be pulling their starters the final game, at Philly, but maybe not, if they're in a tight race with Dallas.

Seattle have the Chiefs and 49ers the next 2 weeks, they will have a tough time making the playoffs.

The Commanders are probably the most likely last spot, but you never know.

The Commanders have 3 of the last 4 games at home. But they play at SF, their homes games are Giants, Browns and Cowboys. The Cowboys could be resting their starters on the last game, but their backup QB isn't bad.

Since Lance can't seem to solidify the QB spot for SF, and many think Garrapolo is average, is it possible Purdy is actually the best of the 3, and he just needs experience ?

Did I see that right? Hockensen has been more productive per game vs Det than he's been with us?
And I know of at least 2 big drops he had so far with us.

If it turns out they like Purdy long term the 49ers will be looking good salary cap wise. Sure they gave up some high picks for Lance but at this point all their QB's are pretty damn cheap.

When the QB position is solid the draft picks high in the draft don't seem like a big deal.
