Somebody earlier mentioned Dumba
Another stellar night for him
Nothing. He accomplished nothing for this team. Nothing.

That was me. Nobody takes me seriously. And last night my wife told me I'm only allowed to like one sport. So forget about this hockey bandwagon stuff anyway.

Who are you, again?

All you have to do is look at Dubnyk's face
Soft
He's got too much going on
He's stopped working on his body, can't blame him.
If you truly care so much about him, tell him to get right.
And in the meantime, the new kid will maybe bring you to your senses about who should be playing right now.

Lots of guys that deserve to be playing....time to trade someone. Maybe Rask has increased his value? Zucker?

Rask is currently right where he belongs, a 4th line center. I doubt we would get much for him in a trade, other than some cap relief.
What we really need to do is clear some room in the top six for Kaprizov and maybe even Khovanov, who is tearing it up in the world juniors right now.

We have rights to Khovanov also (edit we drafted him with a 3rd round pick in 2017)? Not Resigning Mikko, trading Zucker, and going to be hard to pick which young guy to trade Donato, Ek, Kunin, and Fiala as they have all shown a little but do what needs to be done....seen enough of Sturm to know we have some depth...

I just read an article in the Athletic the other day about Khovanov. Apparently he had some major health issues in his draft year, which caused him to drop even though when healthy he was 1st round talent. Wild lucked into him much like they did Kaprizov, but he is playing like a 1st rounder now.

Staal will be the Wild's all-star for the 2nd time in 3 years. A little blurb from the Athletic:
It was Friday and a game day in fact, so Eric Staal was getting a coffee in the middle of the afternoon before hopping on the team bus in Denver.

That’s when he got a text from Wild general manager Bill Guerin asking for the team’s No. 1 center to give him a quick call when he had a chance.

Uh-oh, Staal thought.

“It caught me a little bit off guard,” Staal said, grinning.

No, no, no, Staal wasn’t traded, which always is the first thought that goes through any player’s mind when their GM texts or calls.

Instead, Guerin was informing Staal of the most recent good news in Staal’s tremendously good hockey career: At 35 years of age, Staal had been selected to play in his sixth All-Star Game and second with the Wild in the past three years.

“This is the best league in the world and if you can be named to a game like that, it’s special and it’s an honor,” Staal said a few hours before the announcement Monday. “I’m obviously thankful for the guys that you’re playing alongside nightly. It’s just a representation of our guys and this group. It’ll be fun.”

Good on him.
Great pro.
Glad we have him
One of the few late-in-the-career signees that have truly come thru for us.
This org owes him for carrying us thru times where he was damn-near all we had out there, offensively.
He has pulled us out of the dark many nights, with sheer effort and will.

Leery that we resigned Staal but now glad we did....leads team in goals and points (again) 15/32. Parise was bumming that he didn't make the All Star team with his 14 goals....

Still only 19...helped lead the Russian under 20 team to a thumping of Canada's under 20 team (3 goals and 3 assists in 4 games).

Had a Back/Hip surgery last this past offseason (played thru it the prior year) and has 53 points (20 goals) so far this season in 26 games.

You're putting it much better than I will.

Awesome for him. What a warrior. Shame on us that he's our All Star.

He should protest. Hell, he's 133rd in the league in scoring and there's only 1 defensemen ahead of him in points on his team. That's blasphemy dammit.

Yeah, but BB sat him out that one shift a week ago when our opponent had the goalie pulled
If he doesn't get those goals, he's even lower than 133rd.

No, same take.
He's been great for US, shouldn't have to be.
It says more about the rest of the roster, than it does about him, for sure.

He is a very good hockey player.....but the best thing for the Wild is that he signed cheaper than he should off, which really helped us out. 3-3.5 million/year versus Mikko/Zucker/Zucc getting 5-6 million/year.

Is it just me, or did we get about 2 steps slower with the return of our fearless leader?
We got beat badly to every loose puck yesterday......at least in the first period that I managed to watch.
