Washington is missing a number of players, or some may play hurt. Advantage Vikings even if Thielen is out. I believe he is the only player out for our team.

This is a must win, but it's really hard to imagine losing this one. I know it's a prime time game, but do you really think the Redskins are going to give their all for this one? I don't think so.

That's Zim all right. Don't really give a shit as long as the guys understand where he's coming from. I just think as was stated with all that has been invested on that side of the ball, things should be tighter than they seem to be.

Seems like someone posted in the last couple of months that our "investment" in the offensive side of the ball has pretty much evened up with our investment on the defensive side.

https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/positional/defense/

highest % spent on defense in NFL.

On offense you've got

Oline: 1 - first rounder, 1 - 2nd, 1 - 3rd. 2 FAs. Even throw in Samia as a 4th.
RB: 2nd and 3rd.
WR - 5th and URFA - Include two more firsts in Treadwell and Patterson
TE: 2 second rounders.
QB both FA. Teddy - first

Dline: Holmes (3rd), Hunter (3rd), J Johnson (4th), Griff (4th) FA Joseph. Not sure how you want to count Stephen 7th or FA
LBers: 1st and 2nd
DB: 1st = Hughes, Waynes, Rhodes, Smith. 2nd: Mac.

5 firsts on defense to 4 on offense (two flamed out/ 1 injured).
4 second rounders on offense vs 2 on defense
2-2 on thirds

I'll stop there but slight lean to defense, last year's draft helped balance it out. Really hurts not hitting on offense with QB and both WRs.

Cap leans Defense in comparison to other teams. Draft pretty close, I'd say defensive lean. Gotta give Zim and coaches for picking and developing defense players.

That was off top of head. Did I miss any?

EDIT: Missed Teddy.

I don't think we are much different than most teams.

Click the link. We have the highest percentage of cap space dedicated to defense in the entire league.

The original argument(in here) was about high draft choices and big FAs. It has evened out.

I tend to break down the value of picks as: Day 1, Day 2, 4th rd (IMO the last chance to grab a decently regarded player), and rds 5-7 (a higher risk grab bag).

Honestly.

Since 2014

Ist rd.
D – Barr, Waynes, Hughes
O – Bridgewater, Treadwell, Bradbury
2nd-3rd rds.
D – Crichton, Kendricks, Alexander, Hunter
O – McKinnon, Cook, Elflein, O'Neill
4th rd.
D – Johnson, Gedeon, Holmes
O – Clemmings, Beavers, Samia
5th-7th rd.
D – Exum, james, Stephen, Watts, Price, Dubose, Robinson, Brothers, Weatherly, Kearse, Odenigbo, Lee, Tocho, Aruna, Downs, Smith Watts, Epps, Boyd
O – Yankey, Pruitt, Diggs, Thompson, Shephard, Bohringer, Morgan, Adams, Isidora, Hodges, Coley, Conklin, Gossett, Udoh, Mitchell, Johnson

Sam Bradford?

Davion Davis is brought up from the practice squad.

Probable WR depth for the #Vikings tomorrow night:

• Stefon Diggs
• Bisi Johnson
• Laquon Treadwell
• Davion Davis

One NFL team has never played in London - The Packers. They have avoided it at all costs. Why the special treatment? And the Packers have said they do not want to give up a home game to play there. When did one team get to dictate what they wanted, while the rest oblige?

On the Redskins, one corner and one receiver are studs.

Stefon Diggs really threw away $200,000 to fix this team.

What a team player...

#Vikings lead the NFL in 21 personnel usage

Pretty simple...look at all their stock holders who go to home games. In addition Jax offers to do it every year.

Playing in London is actually an advantage as long as it is a road game, in which case you get a road game at neutral site.

We traded a 1st round pick for him, so that is a 1st round "investment". I guess we should actually include a 4th rounder for him

I get the use of 2014 as the starting year because that's when Zimmer arrived. I still think the entire current roster should be considered though as who was kept/resigned matters as well as how many high picks were used in positions that already had quality high picks on the roster. Or it doesn't really matter at all. The offense got addressed recently (finally) and we are now enjoying what appears to be a complete team.

Yes.

It’s one of those games. At home against a team that we should easily dominate both defensively and offensively.

Which means that it will turn into a nail biter, that will have the neg- nellies all a flutter with fire Zimmer and Spielman chirping in the G D thread until the game is well in hand.

I fear the indigenous, Potomac drainage basin football team any more than real 11th century Viking warriors would have feared the same indigenous Potomac drainage basin, loincloth and bearskin clad, “warriors” of that era.

Here is a good article Here is one paragraph:

Finally, it's time to give the Vikings' offensive line the respect they deserve. Quarterback Kirk Cousins has the most time to throw of any quarterback in the league (average of 3.05 seconds), according to NFL Next-Gen Stats. The play of Minnesota's offensive tackles has been a big key. Riley Reiff and Brian O'Neill have been performing well in pass protection. The Vikings have the seventh-lowest adjusted sack rate in the NFL at 4.8 percent, per Football Outsiders.

I know that Peterson is listed on the report for the Redskins, and he apparently has both a “low” and a “high” ankle sprain. . .but I’m guessing he’ll be out there. Still, Washington has already declared five players out for Thursday, and they’re still without offensive tackle Trent Williams, who has loudly declared that he’ll never play for the Redskins again.

The Vikings defense has not given up a rush longer than 18 yards in 2019, marking the shortest "long rush" allowed by an NFL team this season.

Minnesota has also only allowed one rushing touchdown this season, tied with San Francisco for the fewest in the NFL

This is fascinating. Why do you suppose this is? Good tackling?

That and great gap responsibility.
