Thanks Todd and Rat for pointing that out.

I recall Zim pounding his fist on the draft table for Kearse. So maybe he does value him and will increase his role. He damn well should IMO cuz Kearse with his size and ability can really matchup with TE's and tall wr's.

.
.

for the 2020 season we are already $2m over the cap and only have 37 players signed - we need 16 more players to field a team and that doesn't include the practice squad...a player like kearse is a luxury that we just cannot afford anyway....

Even with a 10 million dollar cap increase and some restructuring, there will be cap casualties.

I think we will be drafting a corner with one of our top 3 picks.

Rhodes will be gone.
Waynes has a good chance of being gone. Someone will overpay.
Linval might be gone.
Reiff will be gone or big time restructure.

I think we extend Cousins and lower his cap number.

I don't see Cousins taking a lower cap #. QBs are getting funny money and Captain Kirk has been playing very well.

Extension = More money up front(signing bonus), lower cap figure because it would be a 4 or 5 year deal.

personally, i would rather keep cousins on a shorter leash...4-5 years is a little too much of a commitment....

If you don't, he is going to go the all guaranteed route again. This time it will be 32-35M per year.

LMAO, only on talkvikes...

Rudolph goes 38 catches for 360 yards and 6 TDs with clear quality replacement in the wings. COMPLETE VINDICATION, greatest red-zone threat in the league, earned his extension, no longer an easy cut.

Diggs goes 60 catches for 1073 yards and 5 TDs and literally the barest shelf of WRs in the league. Trade him. Not specifically this page but in the past - 'shut up and play'.

nobody here said they wanted to trade diggs, pal...relax....

What position would you draft with that first rounder you mused about trading him for?

i would like to figure out a way to develop cousin's replacement....

• Ham: 65.8

Defense
• Hunter: 93.1
• Harris: 90.9
• Waynes: 83.3
• Barr: 81.6

• Shamar: 78.6
• Kendricks: 74.6

Rudy keeps performing!

Actually earning that ext. Been really blocking with effort this year. Good to see.

It's definitely one of Rudolph's best seasons. It's the type of season that should be expected and should have been expected in prior seasons. For reference, on average he's the 4th highest paid TE and generates about the 15th best production. Still - a definite improvement this season. He seems to have lost some of his entitlement and that's also a good thing.

Just maybe, you and a few others were flat out wrong about him, and stop the entitlement line, it's complete bullshit. Are you saying someone sat him down and gave him an ultimatum. This isn't high school.

When I think of a 'Man of the Year' candidate every year, I don't think of entitlement.

The entitlement I speak of has to do with his extremely inflated opinion of his own talent and production. I'm talking about on the field. Off the field stuff is wonderful too but doesn't count to the player's value for me. You know who was one of the greatest off the field contributors to his NFL city? Jay Cutler.

Yeah. I can see that. It was a few years ago when he was touting himself a Top TE.

He's had a solid NFL career. Nothing more, nothing less.

i was disappointed when we extended rudloph last spring, but he leads the team in td receptions and has hauled in a some catches this season that very few in the league could have....

i guess at this moment i'm just not in a hurry to kick him off the team....

I could see doing that if the GM thought they could get their QB of the future with that pick.

Risky as hell but who knows, perhaps Diggs is a pain in the neck.

I wouldn't be high on it if they used the pick for anything but QB. Not sure I would be high on it anyway.

Why are we talking about the draft? We don't know who we will pick up or let go via free agency yet. We don't know our draft position yet. We haven't studied the draft as far as who is available and how good certain players will be. I mean we haven't had the Senior Bowl, the combine or individual workouts yet. More players will declare themselves for the draft. Some players will get hurt- maybe some of our own. Nobody talks more about the draft than me here, but it's just too early. (but I know it's interesting)

Maybe we could talk about matchups in the Packers game or weaknesses in the Packers that should be exploited. Why have the Packers struggled lately vs inferior opponents?

Sorry.

This matches the eye test. A great blend of improving players/draft investment/coaching/scheme/play calling/ QB being quick & Decisive.

Wonder how we are doing run blocking? Boone looked great and it makes me think injuries are taking a toll on Cook. I think he's only been averaging 3.1 ypc for a few games.

We need a healthy cook for playoffs. If Mattison is back and 100%, I would take a very cautious approach to Cook.

Also Cousins. Brees missed 5 games but I get him. Rodgers is behind in just about every category except INT% and has 1 extra win with almost the same schedule (I have looked at the two games but based on last years standing - I would expect a slightly easier schedule).

I know that the pro bowl is just a popularity contest, but for Kendricks not to make the team shows that people are not paying attention. He's probably our best or second best player on defense.

It's not surprising that Cousins didn't make it, a big chunk of it is fan voting, and it appears that for a big chunk of Vikings fans, even with Cousins playing at an all-pro level, they are currently only "tolerating" him as our QB. Probably because their previous ripping on him makes them look SO stupid, they are still holding out hope that he will crash and burn (for them the team crashing and burning will suffice), giving them the chance to claim they were right the whole time.
