Sounds like we could use a FA CB just for a body.

Rhodes, Hill, Waynes, Kearse, Boyd. We should have enough.

Losing Alexander is not a big deal. After strong start to season, he had been picked on lately(just as much as Rhodes). Probably the injury slowed him down.

I hope they just keep an open locker with Marcus Sherels' name on it for convenience. He's back for the third time. I like the kid, so I'm happy to see him keep getting chances here.

Meh, he doesn't take up a lot of room.

Playing on the road is always tough - and even more so in the playoffs. A win this weekend would be a nice upset!

I was torn about playing starters last week. But what we ended up with was essentially a mini bye week. Some guys have been resting for several weeks now. I actually think that helps these guys.

I agree with others assessments that NO will bring lots of pressure on our OL and Cousins. I hope we have a nice section in the playbook for TE screens and quick slants to counter that. With all of that traffic at the LOS, we may need to pass to set up the run. The OL is going to need to play its best game of the year. They played like crap against GB, so here's hoping they play strong.

It may be hard to sack Brees, but the DL need to remember to stay disciplined and get their hands up if the rush doesn't get there. There will be opportunities for batted passes, including on bootlegs. Remember, Brees is not tall.

Zimmer is great at defense. Let's see some new coverage schemes on Thomas at a few key points in the game. As others have said, a couple of turnovers would go a along way to giving us a win here.

The pass defense - especially the secondary - has been a bit maligned this year. Maybe they have just been waiting for this moment to really shine....

MN is as good a team as NO. They are. NO has the advantage since it is at their place. But MN could roll in there with some swagger, play smart and tough, and get out of there with a win.

agree with the rest week

we needed some rest, and it was extremely unlikely (impossible?) that we would get a playoff bye

also, improves our draft position

IF we play our best game in all 3 phases, we can beat anyone, IMO....will we?

The draft position is not determined by records for playoff teams.

The four teams eliminated in the wild card round pick in slots 21-24 in the reverse order of their final regular season records

An upset Sunday would be an incredible feat.

Brees should have no real issue with our secondary. If they stop Hunter, he should be pretty comfortable.

Saints will aim to overwhelm our OL and make our offense stagnate.

I'm expecting a three-score loss.

Only variable to change things is turnovers. If we get a bunch of them and points off them, then we have chance.

Saints gave up a million points to a weak 49ers offense. We should have no problems at all scoring on them with our offense fully healthy. This game is a tossup.

Alexander Mackenzie OUT

Hugh Mikes OUT

I'll take that trade-off.

Not good news going against Breeze and Thomas.

Ifeadi listed as questionable. Underrated blow if he can't play.

No doubt.

Probably pulled a hammy punting the ball into the stands after "TD".

Mackenzie Alexander was not 100% last week and played vs the Bears anyway. That was a blunder. Unbelievable blunder. Losing two corners for this game is insurmountable. We can not win, in my opinion. (Sorry to be negative)

Agreed. Losing Mac is a big blow esp being Hughes is more or less the only other cb that can play the slot.

Largely depends on which Kirk shows up. Good Kirk or Rags Kirk.

Well, it looks like Spiels and Zim wlll be back next year. We are going to have to nail free agency and the draft to get better for next year.

Mike Hughes is out for the playoffs if we advance- not just for Sunday's game. He has been hurt a lot, it seems. I was not good with the pick at the time. I was consoled since he seemed like a stud, but right now it has been a wasted first round draft pick. I mean, it's the playoffs and he's not available. Marcus Sherels is good for the special teams. He's not going to be helpful as a corner, imo.

I had to check to make sure that I erred on saying Sherels was signed by the team. He was, but we also signed another Marcus who happens to be a corner. The articles are not clear, but I believe he was signed for next year.

It looks like Kendricks was named as All Pro today. He was snubbed for the Pro Bowl, but this is a bigger deal.

Anthony Harris is the only starting safety who hasn't allowed a single TD in coverage over the last 2 years

He had the fewest missed tackles of any starting safety in 2018

He's tied for the fewest missed tackles in 2019

And he's currently tied for most INTs by a safety in 2019

Mike Hughes was a full participant in Wednesday's practice and is now on IR. Did he get hurt in practice? "No," Mike Zimmer said. How did he get hurt? "Playing football," Zimmer said.

I'm trying to figure out what the heck happened.

With Mike Hughes out, Vikings design Marcus Sherels to return punts vs the Saints. Marcus cannot full the gap on defense though. Boyd and Hill will be key. Both can play DB I the NFL.

(VikeFans on Twitter)

I hope that I am wrong and Vikefans guy is right. I'm thinking it's a disaster. Maybe Jayron Kearse can help, too.

A real quality Safety in all regards. Not as high profile as some, but you get from him exactly what you need from that position. Nice to have a ball hawk with hands, and a tackler all in the same guy.
