I thought perhaps Mackenzie Alexander might be available for the Super Bowl, but that will not be the case. With Kearse being a part time nickel corner, it's amazing how many injuries have hit our team at one position.

Just to show desperate the Vikings are at cornerback, check this out.

Time to let it all hang out; let's see some creativity (no Diggs passes or AT jet sweeps please)!:
-If Barr is as smart as Zimmer says, give him free reign on a lot of plays to pick the best gap to blitz or go back into coverage and surprise Garoppolo with an unexpected appearance in a coverage lane.
-I hope Zimmer has lots of new or unexpected blitz packages.
-Including Barr in the Nascar package with 99 97 and 95 could be interesting.
I hope Zimmer has a good plan to contain Kittle. I thought Kearse could be part of the solution - but he's out. Kittle definitely needs to be doubled a good bit (Kendricks and Smith or Sendejo? Any ideas?)
We need to cash in TDs and eschew FGs as much as possible.
-Flea flicker? Hook and ladder/hook and lateral?
-Will this be the day we finally see #75 play TE or catch a pass on a tackle-eligible play?
-Udoh should be active, let him play fullback on some plays and pancake Bosa and anyone else that beats their guy!

NO ONE needs to be "tight" so I hope to see a smartly-played and spirited performance for the entire game today. We're playing with house money; the pressure should be on the 49ers!

Disagree we are playing with house money. We started with house money, but we've cashed it in and have entered the big stakes. I think there is a lot of pressure on both teams knowing that a victory allows them to play in and for the NFC Championship.

Meanwhile, by virtue of the bye, nobody is talking about the 49ers. They may have the 'hey, what about us' mentality as well.

Last week I posted a 'I hope this doesn't happen' thought, so why not continue...

I hope this doesn't happen, but could easily see the O become one-dimensional right out of the chute when they stop the running game cold. Then they tee off on Cousins and our not having fully addressed the OL comes back to haunt us.

But if the OL plays out of their minds all bets are off.

Their DC and Stefanski are both in the mix for the Browns HC job. Just a little extra ingredient as far as who can successfully make in-game adjustments.

I'm worried our Oline could get thrashed as well.

Not only do they need to play above their heads but also Stefanski needs to call a game where he keeps the 9er D off balance and guessing.

i don't have a high confidence factor for either.

Ol has been and will continue to be our biggest concern.

Cook needs a big day.
San Francisco allowing 169.2 yards passing per game, the fewest in the league in 10 years.

The Niners reportedly are weaker up the middle of their offensive line. The Vikings need to pressure Garoppolo up the middle like they did vs the Saints.

Please just don't continue to run the toss to the left side! Not sure why we kept doing that.

Adam Thielen on the field about two hours before kickoff, testing the ankle he got stitched up this week.

(Andrew Krammer on Twitter)

Adam Thielen is running routes on the field now as part of his pregame warmup. Appears to be moving fine with his left ankle taped after he was cleated in practice on Wednesday.

(Ben Goessling on Twitter)

Adam Thielen is on the field doing a pregame workout. Indication I received this morning is that he will be active after the Vikings monitored his left ankle the last 48 hours.

It was really the toss to the short side that was the biggest problem. I won't say never, but don't do this unless something clearly shows a vulnerability of the 49ers D that we can exploit.

Halftime. Win or lose, and regardless of what goes on with Cousins as long as he is in Minny, our next QB needs to be able to make plays with his feet. Defenders are just too fast and powerful not to have a QB that can move to give a play half a chance to continue. The only way you don't need that type of QB is if you have an overwhelming running game, or your QB is a more of a game manager... perhaps in a West Coast Offense.

Not knocking Cousins, although he telegraphs going into a shell. It's just the way the game has evolved. Two, three, or four plays a game that continue can mean a lot. It's like having 11.5 or 12 guys on O.

Can't argue with this. QB's like Wilson and Jackson don't need that good of protection in order to make something happen.

4th qtr and we were simply whooped in the trenches today. We need stronger Olineman and I also think we need to upgrade both DT's.

It’s Cousins next year and then you blow it all up and start over. Nothing else you can do.

If next year starts bad you pull a Miami and start trading anybody for picks.

What a Mikey Mouse display down by 3 scorea. Man we were so outclassed I feel bad for non invested fans hoping for a good game. It would have been better for football if the Saints had made it.

Glad I got sucked in.

That was the typical Zimmer team. What was it 8 first downs? Cook looked slow as molasses. I guess they enjoyed the Saints win. As did I.

Year three of our "Super Bowl run" coming up. It's always been about hanging on cap wise for year three. After that, the high $ contracts and aged D will sink us. We didn't count on high dollar Rhodes falling off a cliff. They abused him on their first TD.

Both lines simply over-matched by SF's lines today. SF was fresher, healthier, and much much faster.

I've moved on and fired up the 2020 Free Agency and Draft threads.

Really liked we knocked out the Saints, but some of that is due to hating the Saints.

So tough for a #6 seed to face a #1 seed, travel back then travel out. Especially with six days between games, i.e. not six days "rest".

No doubt. I think we would have been more competitive if both teams had equal rest.

But that's not how it works. Quit taking games off during the season and earn a bye

Oline needs to be retooled again.

Say goodbye to Elflain and Rieff.
