ORIGINAL: Dana Turner Just finished watching the game on the Skillout web site. Great to see the ball moving downfield and the play calling was excellent. Cousins was more decisive with the ball and that matters. Hill had to come in a couple of times and did a good job. Elf had his obligatory whiff, resulting in a sack. But he did play better today, so that's a start. Dozier is better than Elf. Oneal is playing very good right now. Loved his aggression today! Bradbury had a good game too, might be his best of the year. Reiff had a couple of plays I'm sure he'd like back, but did play pretty good when available. The offense still ran the ball more than passed and were effective in keeping the Eagles off balance. The running attack was good enough to make them respect it and it was thought be many of the experts that we wouldn't be able to run, looks like our run game is legitimate. Still worry about Diggs mindset. On his first TD he mocks taking off his helmet, not sure why he has to make those statements. His taking off the helmet cost us an extra point, it matters, don't have to act like an ass about it. AT knows how to celebrate a TD, slam the ball in to the ground and go find the teammates that made it possible. Right now we average giving up 15.5 points a game, keep that up and we are going to be tough to beat. When Cousins is on, he is really something to watch. The 51 yard TD to Diggs was perfect and the first TD to Adam was even better, just dropped right in there perfectly. This should help his confidence grow, he played a really solid game all around. As mentioned in here already, the coaching staff had their shit together today. The game plan was spot on, on both sides of the ball, that is nice to see. Great job by everyone, now on to Detroit, a place we do have some success to reflect on. Thanks Dana, I always love to read your take on the games. On a related note (If you are not tired of twitter links), I wish this guy were a Vikings fan. He does some of the best film analysis online that I've seen, but, alas, it's for the Eagles fan base. This clip is his explanation of the fake FB choice shortly before half time. I heard the report of the Eagles HC's statement that if they saw the same thing again, he'd make the same decision and I wondered what it was that the coaches in the press box saw. Here's Fran Duffy's explanation: https://twitter.com/fduffy3/status/1183834823456108544?s=20 Hi Terry, always good to see that you are still paying attention to the board and to have your commenting again would be even better. So I watched the video, it's interesting to see the movement that takes place during a FG try or extra point attempt. Really glad to see that the players were committed to their reads and as soon as they saw their keys they were running to their respective spots. Harris does a great job of hustling to the flat area where the kicker only has one option. The play should have worked, but the kicker hesitates and the Vikings react so quickly that the moment of hesitation was all that was needed, a really great play by the special teams for sure. I am hoping that what we have seen from the team the past couple of weeks is a glimpse of things to come. The offensive line is starting to gel and the running game is enough of a threat to keep teams on their heels, slow down the rush a bit. There are still mistakes being made, but less of them, so they are learning and adjusting. I'm going to be leery of Cousins until he proves he's turned the corner and learned to control his game. I have believed his problem is more in his head than anything, he tends to think too much when frustrated. I feel the coaching staff has recognized this a bit and are putting him in a better position to succeed, and we are seeing good results of this. Our young OC has a lot of NFL experience, but he's also gone up against a few pretty experienced defensive coordinators, and he's learning as he goes too. Practice is a good place for installations and dress rehearsals, but going against real defenses with the bullets flying is the best way to learn. I think he's really starting to understand how defenses are going to defend him and what to do to counter it. This weeks game plan and adjustments was really solid.
