You beat me to the punch on this one, Mark. Here's a short article to go with it.

Vikings re-signed OL Dakota Dozier to a one-year, $1 million contract.
Dozier appeared in all 16 games and made four starts for the Vikings last year. The 28-year-old will return as veteran depth that can back up multiple spots.

Not bad. He has some versatility.

According to the draft chart, #25 is worth 720 pts. and #66 is 260 pts.

The difference would be 460 pts., which is equivalent to pick #44, which 16 spots (half of one round) ahead of where we pick in the second round.

Count me out. I would not even part with my second round pick plus Reiff. Third rounder, yes. He's going to come here and tweek his injury and we're going to be stuck with a big salary.

I was saying about a month ago or so that it's time for the Vikings to get younger. It's a good draft. #25 might yield to us a serious cornerback. #66 will get us some backup who may not be ready to play this year. He might be on the list of inactives each week, which means he will take a roster spot, but won't contribute. That's what you can typically expect from pick #66. Oh, I know Trader Rick will probably use that to trade up with his second rounder. Let's see what he could get.

Pick #66 is 260 pts. plus pick #58 is 320 pts. Together that makes 580 pts., which is equivalent to pick #33. (First pick in the second round)

So then the Vikings would have picks 22 and 33. It's like they would have traded back only 8 spots with their second first rounder, but they would have also sacrificed their own second round pick. Think about that. Giving up a second round pick and move back out of the first round.

Count me out. The Vikings have a lot of draft pick capital. In this draft I want them to move up, especially after the first two picks. It's very expensive to move up in the first round. So let me give you an example.

Pick #58 is 320 pts. Pick #89 is 145 pts. Together that's 465 points. Note that both of our third round picks do not equal that late second selection that we now have. Anyway, 465 pts. will get you pick #43.5. Then the Vikings could have three picks in the first, say 44 picks. Offensive line, wide receiver and cornerback. All three would be expected to start. The pick #44 would be a player who thought he likely would go in the first round- someone that we are even talking about at #25. That would be a quality pick. Still we would have a third selection- the compensatory pick which is actually more like an early fourth rounder. So the rest of the draft would be for depth, but we should get three starters. I would be pumped with that.

Last year the Packers used pick #44 for Elgton Jenkins who was in the consideration for us with our first round pick which we used for Bradbury. Who had the better season? Check this out:

Jenkins was drafted by the Green Bay Packers with the 44th overall pick in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft.[2] He signed his rookie contract on May 13, 2019.[3] After entering his rookie season as a backup, Jenkins made his first NFL start on September 22, 2019 in a Week 3 game against the Denver Broncos, replacing an injured Lane Taylor.[4] On 571 pass-blocking snaps this season, Jenkins did not allow a single sack

Last year we got a quality player with our second round selection. (Irv Smith Jr.) But he was selected with pick #50. This year our second round selection is pick #58. Last year that was Trysten Hill, DT - UCF. I found this about Hill:

The best move made by Dallas Cowboys rookie defensive tackle Trysten Hill this entire season is falling asleep when Basketball Hall of Famer Isiah Thomas talked to the team.

https://www.star-telegram.com/sports/spt-columns-blogs/mac-engel/article237076219.html

That is the possible value of moving up in the second round. I want to use our draft capital to do that.

Sorry for all of the draft talk here on the free agency forum. Getting back on topic:

As you can tell, yes, i'm fairly upset with the decision to bring guys like Dakota Dozier back when guys like Michael Schofield III, Ron Leary, Kelechi Osemele, and Mike Person are still on the market with price tags that can't be much higher for better production.

Bradbury needs to improve. Jenkings and McCoy(Saints) out played him.

Bradbury really stunk. Like the worst rated C in the league. If he doesnt improve dramatically our IOL will continue to be a grease fire.

I agree. He was a huge disappointment. Even more so than Elflein, actually. He had a really good pre-season, but once the regular season began it seems he was bullied by physical DT's.

This is another reason why we can't go safety and edge rusher in the first round. We have to continue to fortify the offensive line.

I wonder what the guarenteed money is on Newton cuz he's a big health risk.

Newton ain't the guy either. He is not effective unless he is gouging teams running the ball. And he just can't stay healthy doing that any more.

Their kind of opening a can of worms here with a potential qb contraversy similar with Chi

And without actually knowing the details of his contract, it seems to me that the Niners are throwing a bit too much at the quarterback position.

Edit:. I originally wrote Rams and just fixed it to Niners. I don't know what I was thinking.

They really want Cousins. There's a price for everything, so you never know. Just speculating. I know Zimmer and Spielman are all in to win this year with Cousins because what else can they do? Wilfs want a Super Bowl. Their first year here, Zygi used to say he'd drive around for hours after a loss (probably meant his chauffeur drove him around for hours). I think the John Fox Broncos comparison that someone brought up a couple weeks ago rings true.

Nothing to apologize about. Someone used Adam Schefter's name to pass on fake news. Whoever did that is a total loser. You had nothing to do with it and believing a liar does not mean you are not bright. Bruce, thank you for all the excellent stuff you post on here, you are one of the best sources of info on the TalkVikes site.
