Reports that Harris will sign long term with Vikings. If true could mean no Williams trade and no return of Everson Griffen as I don't know where we would find the money.

The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports unsigned Vikings franchise player Anthony Harris is in "no rush" to sign his tender.
Per reporter Chris Tomasson, Harris is committed to signing a long-term contract before the July 15 deadline. ESPN's Josina Anderson reported four days ago that the sides were making progress toward a pact. They have been in active discussions for some time now. This seems like a multi-year agreement that will actually get done.

Wow...Gronk to TB.

Yep it's official.

Bucs acquired TE Rob Gronkowski from the Patriots in exchange for a fourth-round pick.
The Pats are also sending a seventh-rounder Tampa Bay's way. FOX's Jay Glazer reports the soon-to-be 31-year-old has already taken a physical. We learned of Gronk's official desire to return less than an hour ago, but the longtime Pat had never closed the door on coming back. After a decade of injuries in New England, Gronk looked many steps slower in 2018, but he still managed a 47/682/3 line in 13 games before going 12/166 between the AFC Championship Game and Super Bowl. His 15.1 yards per reception lead all active tight ends with at least 100 career catches. The ultimate security blanket for Tom Brady, Gronk should be refreshed after his year off. Even if O.J. Howard isn't traded, Gronk will be in the TE1 mix, though he will not ascend to his usual heights with Mike Evans and Chris Godwin around to gobble up targets.

The Patriots get a 4th round pick for a retired player.

Everson Griffen unlikely to return, but door is still cracked open.

The St. Paul Pioneer-Press confirms free agent DE Everson Griffen could still end up re-signing with the Vikings.
Reporter Chris Tomasson's feel is that Griffen's market is being held up by the coronavirus to an unusual degree, as potential new teams would probably like to meet with Griffen more than other free agents because of the mental health issues he dealt with in 2018. Griffen had no issues in 2019 as he rung up eight sacks in 15 games. He has spent his entire 10-year career in Minnesota. Tomasson believes his return odds depend on what the Vikes do in the draft.

From Darren Wolfson in reference to acquiring Williams from the Redskins:

Most trades talked about, across all sports, never happen. So start there. Washington wants a really good pick. Do you give up 58, then commit $16M/year to him on a new contract? He’s 32 when the season starts, has been injured before. Lots of layers. But they’re interested.

OL can play well into their mid 30s so a 4 year contract isn't bad. We likely only have him for one contract. We probably wouldn't have to pay him much more than Reiff for most likely much better play than Reiff. Rumor has it we are his preferred destination and he might sign with us for a little bit less. Washington wants a good pick, but I want to be dating Shania Twain. In the end they will settle for a third and Reiff. As stated most trades talked about don't happen, but this one I'm giving a good 25% chance.

Throw in Shania Twain and you got a deal...

A healthy Williams would be a huge upgrade at LT.

Also free us up in the draft to fill some other positions.

Washington has to throw in Shania.
Brilliant minds thinking alike.

I'd part with #105, but not #89 in the 3rd. I'd throw in a 7th if needed.

Louie Tee I think came up the fair package. Reiff, 105, and 132. 89 by itself is more valuable than 105 and 132 combined per the charts.

i know that spielman would never do it, but i'd at least work him out...he's a natural football player and if he's still got some speed he could be worth $3m/yr....

does he need money?...i hate it when athletes blow their nest egg....

Sounds like he's finally feeling fully healthy again and is young enough to give it another shot.

After what came out about him being high most games....will teams take a chance on him?

If he's willing to play for the veterans minimum with next to no bonus up front, then yes. Otherwise no. Of course I could be wrong.

Rumor has it? #Vikings working on an extension with Safety Anthony Harris to move him in the draft. The two teams that have shown the most interest are the #Browns and #Raiders #NFL #NFLDraft

(NFL Rumors on Twitter)

This sounds very likely to me.

He played at a really high level... I never had any issue with him on game day.
My guess is that would be the same for a lot of teams.

However, really really bad year to try a comeback... teams aren't going to be desperate for a WR coming out of this draft.

We won't do it but I'd take Harvin back in a heartbeat. That guy was tough and always made yards after contact.

Took it to the house for a TD LOL

If that happens I believe one or both of the following happen. We re-sign Everson Griffen and/or trade for Trent Williams.

This sounds very likely to me.

Sounds unrealistic.

We couldn't give him any signing bonus. That would all be dead money then.

More than likely another team already has a new deal worked out with him. Then make the trade.

The other factor is that we'd have to find three safeties in the draft and/or on the street, and one of them would have to start. And our safeties have to help provide a backstop for an unproven---completely unproven---group of CBs, none of whom has been a starter other than Hughes for a few games.

We would be backed into a corner over a safety . Have to draft one by the second round.
