Impossible to really grade this draft with so many developmental players. If a couple of the players on day three pan out then it was an outstanding draft.

Jake Lacina, Corbin's son, will sign with the #Vikings, per
@DBrownMidcoSN
. Played in high school at Cretin DH. Was the D-II center of the year last year.

Overall I give the Vikes a B+

Got some guys that can contribute right away at WR, CB, Big Nickel, and perhaps T/OG in Ezra.

Intriguing players like Wonnum, Dye, Hinton. And depth at S.

Not enough done in trenches. I wanted a legit DT like Gillimore and a IOL who could compete this year.

Would have liked another WR that could do something different like stretch the field.

Bullets in 2021.

Dennison and Peterson have a lot of work to do.

That should drop our grade to a B-/C+. CB, OG, and WR were our biggest needs by far, with DT and DE close behind, followed by OT to eventually replace Reiff. RS addressed 2 of the 3 in the first round, but that should be a given for any GM.

I can't argue this at all. For me, if this was last year, I would give them a D. I do trust Kubiak/Dennison much more than the organization two years ago. Kubiak has a long history of having functional olines with lower draft picks. Maybe I'm foolishly optimistic after last years draft. But the organization has been hinting they are pleased with Samia and Udoh's development. I'm a big fan of Collins.

The counterpoint is they aggressively tried to trade for Williams.

Not really. They could have had him for damn little draft capital, could have easily outbid SF.

I stated that the org must be pleased with the development of younger players and that they think they could step up. The fact they were aggressively trying to trade for Williams is the counterpoint for that assertion.

Interesting listening to ESPN radio. They were saying one of the reasons to accumulate so many players is UD Free Agency is supposed to be a mess this year with the virtual aspect

15 is a record right? What's the record for starters or key contributors unearthed in a draft? I don't expect an answer...but it would nice to see this draft being one to look back on so favorably. You go back the last decade and there's like guy that mattered in some.

It's an A draft as much as you can rate one just after it's over.

I like the draft. I think I like what I've seen and read about Lynch more than most do, and it seems possible Dye could replace Gedeon. CB from bare to good possibilities. I like the DE from South Carolina also.

James Lynch 98th percentile production, avg athlete (Rotoworld)

Lynch is firmly a tweener. He's undersized for the interior, but lacks ideal length/burst for the edge. He doesn't have high-ceiling physical tools, but he's powerful enough to add plus run defense and pass-rushing ability at the next level. (PFF)

Does it matter if he's a tweener if he is the next John Randle?

Seriously - I think Jackson is only successful with about 3 organizations and head coaches. Harbaugh is a perfect coach for him. Harbaugh should be in the hall of fame. Win the SB with a statue then completely change the entire approach for Jackson. Impressive as hell.

I recommended John Harbaugh a few different times, a few years back, but nobody seemed to like that idea.

The fact they were aggressively trying to trade for Williams is not a fact, because they could have easily have got him for minimal draft capital. Did they stick their toes in the water, probably, but we practically could have got him for the extraneous draft picks we cached away for 2021.

They had a trade in place that Williams refused, links have been posted. The fact that it would have had to include a new contract makes it aggressive regardless of the picks.

Spielman singles out Dru Samia, Oli Udoh, and Aviante Collins as OL the coaches are very high on.

Could replace Spielman with Pager.

I think our 1st 8 all have reasonable chances to make the 53. Maybe 6 with on 2 on the PS. Then there are a bunch of stiffs from 9 to 14...maybe a PS candidate in there. Then our surprise guard we're gonna love making the team.

Looking at Youtube highlights, the 3rd round CB Dantzler looks better to me than the 1st rounder, Gladney.

Interesting fella

GILMER, Texas — GIlmer High School alum Blake Lynch is headed to Minnesota.

The 6'3, 225-pound linebacker was signed by the Minnesota Vikings as an undrafted free agent on Saturday following the 2020 NFL Draft.

Some of Lynch's accomplishments include:

All-Big 12 honorable mention (2019)
32 career starts at five different positions (corner, linebacker, safety, wide receiver, running back)
Earned his undergraduate degree in December 2018.

#1 a trade was never in place, #2 no one seems clear as to when Williams said he would nix a trade to the Vikings, the news broke AFTER we drafted Cleveland, why did it all of a sudden surface? Whether you or I are correct, it's clear that the Vikings drafting Cleveland made them the initial nixers of any Williams deal. And once we drafted Cleveland, any counterpoint is moot, because Williams became irrelevant.
