I hope the first three things addressed in the draft are OT, OG, CB. I’d be thrilled if we can fill the needs I see as far away the most needed. Trading for the skins LT would be great and get a top corner and a guard in round 1 or even move back some into round 2 for one. After that fill in with a receiver and defense depth. I hope we avoid receiver in round one unless one really drops to us.

Great way to address the first two with one pick would be Wirfs or Jones. We wait until the 3rd on WR, we are very unlikely to get one that will make an impact.

Wirfs won't be available and Jones has never played G.

I hear that he has the traits that would make a good guard. Just going by what I hear. Wirfs could be available. Just cost us both our first round picks and might be worth it. I really got this Randall McDaniel 2.0 vibe with him.

I like Jones but drafting him to play G would not be a good idea, I don't think. Same with Jackson – both seem like LT specimens needing some development playing the LT position to get where they should be. And why you have just spent a first rd. pick on them. Throwing them at G just hijacks that path.

Using two first rd picks on one player is a horrible idea for us – we have so many needs.

Rrriiigght... but it seems he will start at 2 positions. Not can be the starter at 2 positions, will be the starter at 2 positions.

We only need him to play guard this year. He can take over for Reiff next year.

Haven't heard many talk about Ezra Cleveland lately...he sliding?

I keep thinking Johnson, Gladney, Fuller, Terrell...whoever Zimm likes best at 22

maybe Cleveland at 25 or small trade down...to plug in at LG, though he has the experience for LT in a pinch, though they seem to think he is more suited to guard

get some speed at WR in the second...maybe move up a little for Raegor or Aiyuk in the 2nd with pick from trade back from 25?

Sounds like Ruiz is going to go before 22...

I keep seeing more and more talking heads picking DE early for us, I think because there are not a lot of really good ones as well as it being a need and a feeling Zim wants DL...

But this draft feels weird at DE

outside of Young and Chaisson, seems like waiting for developmental pick is better

Epenesa and Gross-Matos feel a little like Erasmus James to me...sort of a consolation prize when there aren't really any good ones in back half of first round

I've read that Cleveland isn't strong enough to play this year at LT, much less OG.

Not gonna lie, if Jordan Love is there at 22 I would take him.

Most grades on Love has him as a 2nd or 3rd round value. Taking him at 22 would be very poor draft value.

Love his skill sets, and we desperately need a QB with a little mobility.

We already have a QB with more than a little mobility. Seems like you think we need a QB with a lot of mobility. Just remember those are the ones who tend to get sacked the most.

Since when did Kirk Cousins have mobility?

Since always. Some. Not a lot.

Cousins has a little more footspeed than a statue but absolutely no presence of mind how to escape the pocket to use it. Plus, its just more opportunity for him to put the ball on the ground. He needs less.

I've seen sun dials move quicker with the pocket collapsing.

I have to say... my offseason dream was
1) let Kirk play out his final year
2) draft Love
3) let Love sit for a year and become the next Mahomes, Wilson, Rodgers

I don't hate Kirk.
I think you can win with him but he needs a lot of pieces in place.

A QB on a rookie contact (IF he is a stud) is a huge advantage.

Just gotta have a HOF draft and win it all with Kirky now.
Go Vikes!

p.s. Reeeaaalllly don't want to see Love in NE or GB and become the next 10-15 year starter.

Really similar scenarios to a few I had in mind.

A trade up to 13 with SF and trade with Washington for Williams was my thought when making my picks for the draft challenge. Really just throwing darts.

I picked Ruggs at 13 and Gladney in a trade down from 25 so we'd have more ammo to move back up for Ruiz in the 2nd.

I also considered CJ Henderson, if available at 13, then Jefferson at 25. All fantasy land but what else is there to do but dream.

I'm guessing that if we trade up with the Niners it will be their second trade down. That's a long way to go for the Vikings and I don't believe your offer adds up enough for the Niners to accept. I could be wrong. I didn't do the math.

Edit: I just did the math and the Vikings would have to offer both of their third rounders and also a sixth just to get close. So they would give up two firsts and two thirds and get one first and have two seconds, but skip the third round. I mean, teams have given up more than that to move up in the first round. The first round is really expensive territory.

Teams most likely to trade their first round pick via @BetMGM:

Vikings (-304)
Dolphins (-250)
49ers (-250)
Jaguars (-223)
Raiders (-200)

Same. There's a big group of guys who don't have the speed to play T nor the close to the strength to play G.

He's not going to trade up to 13.

If he could swap the first five picks (rounds 1,1,2,3,3) to get four picks between 30 and 50 I think he'd be doing cartwheels. Maybe handstands. Or a high five.

This like meat to me. Good stuff with tough analysis on some of the players we have liked. Reading this makes me think that Jones or Ruiz are truly the only offensive linemen we should select in the first round, assuming the top four OT's are gone, as expected.

https://www.pewterreport.com/ledyards-2020-nfl-draft-top-15-offensive-tackle-rankings/

With Bectem having a positive drug test at the combine he could be in play.

I don't think so, but perhaps the cost to trade up for him will be more affordable.

Laremy Tunsil dropped from #1 to #13 when the gas mask pic was revealed

NFL rules have changed since then.

Still a red flag no matter how you spin it

Yeah it hasn’t seemed to hurt Tunsil’s production.

If it’s Mary Jane I don’t see it affecting his draft status much.

I’d be very happy to be able to draft him.

Honestly I think there is some fire to this Trent Williams smoke.

We can go largely BPA the rest of the way as long as they are CB, WR, Int OLine. 😉

Provided the guy can block, he can fire up a "J" in the huddle for all I care.

Everyone is assuming it's maryjane but sounds more like it was a diluted sample that could be PED's. Doubt bectan at 360lbs already was chugging gallons of water before he stepped on the scale like these lighter guys were doing.

Where did you read/hear that it appears to be diluted PED samples?

Think I copy/paste a link a few pages back. There were sveral with the diluted sample but only becton and UW LB were named.

Trading up doesn't seem to make sense for the Vikings this year. They need bodies at multiple positions and the draft seems deep in some of those positions. I can see multiple trade downs as a more likely scenario.

Just like BPA vs Need trading up vs trading down is on a case by case basis.

Yeah I can’t remember looking forward to a draft like this EVER as well.

Sheesh, get our minds off for just a few hours is needed.

And Ratings could be Super Bowlesque.... Kidding of course but should be the highest ever by far for a draft.

Highest ratings with probably the lowest quality.
