I don't know if you all saw this. It was from Cris Carter before the draft.

@Vikings
please draft Justin Jefferson LSU, he’s got a chance to be as good as any Wr in this years Draft.

If we trade for Williams we could restructure Reiff and move him to G. If not, grab a couple in later rounds. We NEED more CB’s. Hughes has not made it through a full season injury-wise and Hill is one toke away from a season long suspension. We could also use another WR as we were still missing that 3rd guy last year before we traded Diggs so, while he has been replaced, we are still thin at that position IMO.

Hill is not one toke away from a season long suspension. New CBA took care of that. Sign Kirkpatrick to a cheap deal after the draft. Pick a developmental guy later in the draft and I think we are good with Gladney/Hill/Hughes/Boyd/Kirkpatrick/Developmental guy. Kirkpatrick also a connection to the Vikes DB coach.

I like the idea of OLine/DT and the best of Shinn (S), burner WR in the second and third rounds.

Go get em!

EDIT: Not only good but a big upgrade over last year's CB group.

Actually, his second suspension was for PED’s if I remember correctly (I’m getting old so could be wrong). I still believe he is out for a season for another violation not marijuana related. He was also suspended numerous times in college. He is hardly a sure thing to stay on the straight and narrow. I’d spend another high pick on a CB if I was making the call.

He has now stayed clean for a full year. The CBA has much longer intervals for testing now . IMO the risk has gone way down and fitzpatrick would be the insurance policy. To me Hughe's health is the bigger ? mark.

I'm glad you're not drafting - I'd rather see other holes be filled than another high pick on a CB

It sounds like Gladney expected and wanted the Vikings to draft him from the outset.

“I got a little nervous when they traded (the No. 25 overall pick),” Gladney said. “But I never lost faith in them. I still thought they were going to draft me. And they did.”

Zimmer was interviewed on KFAN after the draft. He said when he called him, Gladney said "I've been waiting for you guys to call."

I am just thrilled we got perhaps the most versatile all-around WR outside of Jeudy in this draft

When I read his "weaknesses" they say he doesn't have great agility and speed...

but 4.45 is legit and seeing him break Clemson ankles defies the agility claim:

A Moss like drop? Nah...Shhhhh!

Ok, instant favorite. This guy is supposed to be a football nut, lives, eats and sleeps football.

Wants to play for us!

Good stuff as always in here guys...

I think we hit on both picks. Jefferson paired with Thielen might not miss a beat from Diggs departure.

Gladney is a bulldog and reminds me of a Winfield type corner.

Check out what Chris Simms had to say a few weeks ago concerning Jefferson, makes some good points...

What about G though?

I think a trade for Thuney makes more sense than trading for Williams...

Reiff is still solid if not great...we need interior line...

if we could trade for Thuney...not sure for what, but that helps the line tremendously...

Maybe a multi team trade where Harris goes somewhere and our compensation for him gives us fodder for the Thuney trade

Just running ideas...

I would give up our second and a third next year for Thuney.

Oneil/Thuney/Bradbury/Samia or Collins/Udoh. I like that line a lot.

You would go into the season with Samia at RG and Collins or Udoh at RT?

That has disaster written all over it – regardless of what the coaches think.

Not only are they almost completely unproven but Collins has not stayed healthy. Hill makes more sense than either Udoh or Collins until they prove they are ready ... and Hill is not a long term answer, he is strong in a part-time roll.

Again I don't know what Kubiak and Dennison think of the internal players. Zimmer has hinted they believe they have developed a lot and may be options/in play. Hill has been productive especially on the left side and is a reasonable back up plan. We also have Jones and Dozier as back up options. An open competition would hopefully be in play. All draft picks are completely unproven until they play. Even Williams with the time off is a question mark.

We were ranked 27th against the pass last year. I don't think it would take much to improve on that. Just my opinion.

Excited about Jefferson – he was by far the best available WR we were going to get our hands where we were drafting ... but depending on what happens in the next few rounds, if we don't add some talent to the OL ... how much better are we going to be on offense than last year?

As someone posted ... Gladney / Kirkpatrick / another 4-5 rd CB (and no Rhodes) give us a chance to actually have a better secondary than last year (we'll see what happens on the DL).

I’ll get obvious flak for this, but it’s a fact. Vikings had the best Round 1:

1. Drafted a stud WR they apparently were exploring Trade-Ups for

2. Landed the biggest Trade-Down haul of the night by a good margin

3. Still got their CB at No. 31

4. 3rd most Draft Capital left

I'm going to use the smiley like a +1.

We can't keep drafting guys and never finding out what we have? So we draft a 2nd and 4th this year? Do we say the same things about these guys we are saying about Samia and Udoh next year?
All we have is perpetual back ups? Might as well trade picks for proven players only. Don't go through the ruse of drafting our OLINE each year....

Justin Jefferson said he can play equally well in slot and on the outside. "I've been playing outside all my life until last year.''

This comment by Jeff Gladney will make #Vikings coach Mike Zimmer feel good. He said of his TCU tenure, "I knew the playbook like the back of my hand.''

CB draftee Jeff Gladney said he's the "perfect fit" for the #Vikings and wants to make Mike Zimmer "proud'' of drafting him.

CB Jeff Gladney thought he was going to get drafted by the #Vikings at No. 22 or 25. When the Vikings traded the No. 25 pick, he said he got a little bit "antsy" but still thought he might be drafted by them.

#Vikings coach Mike Zimmer said Jeff Gladney is similar to some CBs he has had but didn't want to offer specific comparisons. When I asked him if Terence Newman is a good comparison, he at least said, "Maybe.''

Mike Zimmer on Packers drafting Jordan Love “I think Rodgers should retire.”

#Vikings No. 31 pick Jeff Gladney will get an estimated four-year, $10.99 million salary, including a $5.55 million signing bonus, and to have a 2020 cap number of $1.99 million. He will have a fifth-year contract option.

(Chris Tomasson on Twitter)

Regarding that last quote, I am wondering how much trading back for Gladney impacted the salary cap for the Vikings.

Justin can claim this all he wants, but he barely played outside at all in 19 and when they put him outside in 18 he very much struggled comparatively.

Right. Kubiak must know that and it seems that he really did want him. Corey Chavous had some good things to say about Jefferson. We'll have to learn more, though. The best thing to like about Jefferson, in my opinion, is that he doesn't back down from the big games and the bright lights. He absolutely played huge down the stretch towards his teams national championship.

I like him. Go Jefferson and go Vikings.

With the #Browns now out of the mix, the #Vikings remain in pursuit of #Redskins LT Trent Williams, according to @CourtneyRCronin

The #Vikings had previously offered a Day 3 pick to Washington last week but the #Redskins want more.

Give them a 3rd round pick and Reiff. Don't get cute and blow this.

Yeah weird, I don't take football coaches projections as scripture.

Hill, Dozier and Jones are not starters on a decent Oline – they are valuable as back-ups with experience, especially Hill.

Samia, Udoh, and fragile Collins are developmental guys that may or may not be ready for more playing time. Its a big jump for Kubiak / Dennison / Nostradamus to declare them as our starting RG and RT.

Which they haven't done yet by the way.

You guys seem to be pretty excited about a team with a below average offensive line and fumbling machine at quarterback. You better hope we draft some offensive linemen, or your dreams are going to be crushed yet again.

It amazes me how quickly people forget.

So, again, we will draft the magical starters THIS year, as opposed to the last two to three years? If there is no confidence in anyone, then let's trade for Williams and or Thuney and quit pussyfooting around.

Regardless of what coaches think?

Again I don't know what Kubiak and Dennison think of the internal players. Zimmer has hinted they believe they have developed a lot and may be options/in play. Hill has been productive especially on the left side and is a reasonable back up plan. We also have Jones and Dozier as back up options. An open competition would hopefully be in play. All draft picks are completely unproven until they play. If Williams with the time off is a big question mark.

We were ranked 27th against the pass last year. I don't think it would be improve on that. Just my opinion.

I'm down w/ that. Get a proven commodity at T and I think we'll be okay. You could do way worse than an O-line of Williams, Samia, Bradbury, Elflein, and O' Neill.
