ORIGINAL: ratoppenheimer . . This will be the first time in franchise history the Vikings have opened the season at home against the Packers. They've opened at Lambeau Field six times -- most recently in Aaron Rodgers' debut as the Packers' starter in 2008. I always think it makes a lot more sense for us to play at Pukers early in the season and at home late in the season. i see it as more packer favoritism disguised as payback for the vikes...i wonder what the actual chance is that this game gets played?.... Early in the season it is highly likely that fans will not be in attendance. This will be a huge advantage to the Packers coming here early. They wont have to contend with the noise allowing ARodgers to make adjustments at the LOS. Later in the season it will be more likely that the fans will be allowed back in giving the Packers an advantage when we go there. I don't know if they intentionally look for ways to give Aaron Rodgers and the Packers advantages, but as often as it seems to happen it's really hard not to think this. I wouldn't be surprised if teams are allowed to pump in a ton of noise. Both to help simulate a homefield advantage and so the fans aren't watching a mostly silent game. they should allow teams to pipe in real fan noise from season ticket holder's living rooms simultaneously into the stadium - thousands of fans all watching the game at home on tv, and making a hell of a lot of noise.... real fan noise...live fan noise...living room to stadium.... So swearing, random conversations, etc? Also I doubt most people watching at home are as loud as they'd be in a stadium. Crowds feed off each other in a shared experience.
