Could I request if we are going to copy and paste something from Twitter or elsewhere we give credit to the source?

I disagree with Dan's views of Twitter - respectfully. My stance is every credible sports journalist has a Twitter account. You can decide who you find credible or not and easily enough decide who you want to read.

Not so sure I am against this:
If the #Vikings DO trade Kirk Cousins, Marcus Mariota would be the perfect, economical bridge QB to Mond/Rookie QB TBD.

It might affect JJeff's value

if he's cleared properly, i would accept griffen back with the team....

“Yeah, of course I’m looking to play again this season,” Griffen, who becomes a free agent March 16, said in a phone interview.

It is unclear if Griffen will play again for the Vikings. But here’s the deal — he was oddly effective in 2021. Griffen notched a 79.0 pass-rushing grade from Pro Football Focus and a season-long pace of nine or ten sacks.

In interview with Pioneer Press, Everson Griffen, who missed #Vikings last 7 games after mental health situation, said he's "doing great" & "of course I’m looking to play again" Said he's "sad" to see Andre Patterson depart who "meant a lot to my career"

Do we really want to wait on a 3rd strike? He's made the same promises and I'm not sure we can trust him.

I think we should move on.

Dilfer is the only QB let go after a SB.

The template is in place.

We can not keep him as THE designated starter opposite (hopefully) Hunter.

But I would be happy to keep him as a part-time player while we look for our next starting DE / find out if Wonnum is a full-time starter, etc. He could play inside and out. As long as he did not hurt the development of people.

He'd also be very good injury insurance.

Its a real long season, He could contribute in a limited way so that, even if had to deal with issues again ... he wouldn't be leaving a big gap to fill.

Plunkett counts for two SB wins. Both times he was a back-up who got elevated to starter because of injury. Even if it was on the same team.

i would think, as a part-time player...i think it would be a physical issue otherwise...i'd want him in training camp...it took him a few games to get the swing of things in '21, but then he lit it up....

I could be wrong, but none of Foles, Plunkett or Dilfer sound like a bridge QB, a QB that is an economical starter, while you have a young QB waiting in the wings.

Foles and Plunkett and Dilfer were all backups at the start of the season.

Are you talking about Mariota starting the season as a backup to Mund or a 1st round QB this year, or are you thinking of Mariota starting the season as the starter ?

I've loved having Griff on the team. His coming back made me very happy. The thing is, there's just too high a chance of another episode. Next one might be tragic.

I'm not really that risk adverse but sometimes its good to make decisions that keep you 100% safe.

Brad Johnson was acquired by Tampa to be the starter, not a bridge QB with a promising rookie waiting in the wings.

I see zero examples of a bridge QB winning a Superbowl.

I agree. I’ve worked in social services for over 25 years. It’s up to an individual to take their medication and follow their treatment plan. If they choose to discontinue to do those things, it doesn’t matter what kind of plan you have for them.

Not everyone gets it or comes to Jesus on the same schedule.
Those that appear to get it can fall apart, some that appear to never get it right eventually do.
Other NFL players have received multiple chances to return to play or return to play after some pretty serious incidents. I hope Griff gets fair treatment and is not affected by bias decision makers may have for brain health that they don't have for other types of abuses such as alcohol, drugs, domestic or sexual, etc

I agree that Johnson was signed as a starter.

If you are defining a bridge QB as a short term starter / someone that fills a gap – Foles Dilfer Plunkett all qualify ... none were full or long term starters when they won SBs.

I didn't see your post before my post above.

IMO a bridge QB is simply a short term QB ... he's not your designated starter / he's not a young player that you are hoping to develop into a starter.

'Economical starter' would be, lets see ... a starter that doesn't get paid a lot or signs a team friendly deal.

Do you think Cousins is an economical starter?

if it's determined that football is contributing to his poor mental health, then he shouldn't be playing...but if he's cleared by his/our medical people then i support it....

it could be that not playing football, is worse for griffen than playing football....

none of us know any of this, but he seems to think it's okay to play, and, he seems to want to play....

I'm guessing that he quit his medication, and that led to his episode last autumn....

That would be twice he quit taking his medicine. And had an episode that we knew of.

He's admitted to drug addiction. I suspected it played a factor this time too.

Doubling down on doing it wrong.

The potential for a tragic ending is real.

I don't know enough to say it'll be easier away from football or not.

Some of these players have screwed up twice, more and they're back.

Because we're talking about depression, anxiety, other brain issues they can't come back? I can't get on board with that ...

You mean he might pull the trigger? He might pull it if he doesn't get help because he's not playing football.

The world's full of people with issues.

He you F'd up, can't be a part of this world any more. Go find a different world where we're not responsible for you and your behaviors.
