Really?

Who else touches the ball as much or carries as much responsibility or sucks up as much of the cap to deserve equal consideration?

You call it hate … I call it well-deserved criticism. And the more posters try and lacquer over the QBs shortcomings, the more turpentine is required to strip away the sticky gloss.

I will say this ...

Yes, there is more sauce with Cousins than any other recent Viking ... not just straight-forward criticism ...

IMO some of that difference comes from his quirkiness – there's just so much fun material there. Some of it is generated by disappointment from a player that does some things really good and some things bad. The contract aspect makes him even more of a pariah.

AP is probably next in line. (Ponder never raised hope)

You have to raise expectations very high to rankle fans to KC or AP levels of frustration.

Is it his job to put the game out of reach when the opportunity is there so one late mishap doesn’t lead to a loss?

I wouldn't give ANY qb $30-50+ mil unless that QB had won me a Super Bowl. Did you win a Super Bowl on your rookie deal? Yes? Great! Here's your hugenormous contract. F it let's just run victory laps and love life. No? Good luck. Next!

Lets give him a 1 year 'fresh start'.

It's true that he didn't audible out of plays and just executed the game plan. I doubt anyone disputes that. That being said, Zimmerball certainly held him back a bit. Let's evaluate him with, what we assume, is a guy that takes the reigns off before we pass final judgement.

To say he didn't put teams away early is dismissing that's exactly what Zimmer was about. Keep it close and run the ball. ZIMMER didn't put teams away early.

You can label it whatever you want … whatever makes you feel good about yourself. Has nothing to do with me.

I’m not going to go around saying you have the hots for Cousins … just because you have a more optimistic perspective.

I don't care too much either way, keep him or trade him but just don't extend him.

Also, if they get rid of Cousins I hope they bring in somebody like Garapalo or Mariotta. You can't just throw the season into Mond's hands, he might completely stink.

Again, not at all

I have consistently pointed out that he’s a good QB with some weaknesses … not a lousy QB who does one or two things well.

I am ecstatic when he comes through in games … I wish he didn’t sit back at times and simply take what’s there. He has the arm talent to be better and more successful than he is.

I'm all for purging if it brings in a franchise mobile QB (Murray). Or if there was a can't miss prospect in college.

Purging because it is something different makes you the Lions.

Offense is in their prime right now in an offense driven league with a new innovative offensive coach. Blow it all up to re-build the defense???

Anyway, we can quit speculating in about 3 weeks.

Murray started strong, but sucked the 2nd half of last season. IMO the jury is very out on him.

Murray and Burrow were #1 overall picks. Herbert looks good. He was picked #6. Who was the last QB picked outside of the top 6 that turned out? Russell Wilson?

Not sure what point you are making for sure...
so I'd say that top QBs are chosen in the 1st round more often than not... but does not have to be top 6 pick.

Josh Allen
Lamar Jackson
Dak Prescott
Aaron Rodgers
Patrick Mahomes
Ben Roethlisberger
Russel Wilson
Tom Brady
Derek Carr(?)

My point is it's very unlikely to get a top QB drafting outside of the top 10 picks. I was forgetting Mahomes and Allen 10th and 7th respectively. Jackson, Carr and Dak don't impress me much and Wilson, Brady, Rodgers and Ben were a long, long time ago.

Very late to respond...

Top 6 pick starting QBs:
Murray
Ryan
Darnold
Goff
Wentz
Lawrence
Herbert
Stafford
Tagovailoa
Wilson

Picking inside the top 6 doesn't seem to me like any better chance of getting an elite QB.
It probably says it's just hard in general.

However, I would say you pick a QB you believe in whenever you have the chance.
If the Vikes have a QB they like in this class... and Carolina offered up the #6... do it.
If the Vikes have a path to get Russ Wilson... do it.
If KOC believes in Kirk... do that.

I also really like taking a shot on Mond... if he is the next Dak/Russ Wilson... you take a huge step forward.

Murray know his body isn’t going to hold up.

That’s why he can’t wait until year 6.

I'm pretty sure it's just I want mine now!

He should have asked before forking his team in the playoffs by throwing the worst pick6 of the decade.

That's why he wants it now. He knows a couple more of them and he ain't get the fiddy.

Pretty sure he ain't getting the fiddy anywho.

I think if Rodgers stays put, the Broncos would try to get Wilson or Cousins.

Any idea what the Broncos might offer for Cousins ?
