Indy now has nothing at QB but they don't have a #1 in this year's draft either. Would they trade next year's #1 for Kirk and pick up his salary? Please?

i'd take a '22 2nd, & 4th, and a '23 1st....

DAMN IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Commanders acquired QB Carson Wentz from the Colts.
ESPN's Adam Schefter added that the deal is expected to include two third-round picks. He also noted that Washington is picking up the tab for all $28 million of Wentz's contract in 2022. After falling apart in the Colts' Week 18 loss to the Jaguars, Wentz's days in Indy were numbered. All reports after the conclusion of their season only confirmed this sentiment. Wentz improved after reuniting with Frank Reich in Indianapolis but he failed to show the ceiling that earned him a mega-contract in Philly. Instead, he simply cut back on the mistakes while handing the ball off to Jonathan Taylor. The Commanders are stocked with talent on defense and has a core of young skill-position players on offense. Their front office clearly believes that they are one average quarterback away from being a serious contender. To their credit, the quarterback play in Washington has been middling to atrocious in recent years. Wentz will help boost the team's floor but it remains to be seen if he is capable of leading his team to the playoffs anymore.

Why is this damn it?

Washington was never going to ask for Cousins back.

and Now Indy really needs a QB.

Not sure if we have the cash to get Bobby Wagner for a year, but it looks as if the Seahawks are going to let him go.

Terron Armstead is another we should take a run at.

I am not a fan of paying LBs, safeties, or RBs a lot of money.

Mack hasn't propelled the Bears to anything.

The ability to cover WR and generate a pass rush are the keys to a good defense.

FWIW they got Mack because he was really good at putting pressure on the QB.

IOW they got him to generate a pass rush.

Rehashing a bit, but....

One has to wonder about the expectations the Wilfs gave to the GM and HC, the stamp they in turn want to put on the team, how quick they should be providing results, etc. Drawing out a rebuild until after next year would seem to simply delay things a year, and their record over the first two years (at least two years) would be pretty bad.

There is no getting around the pain that WILL occur. Why drag it out? As Ronnie Lott would say, cut the finger off now.

One week to get under the cap…

If this regime extends Cousins..

I’ll lose my respect for the Wilfs and the new GM..

Suck it up..

Burn the bridges..

Cousins 45 million cap hit is unavoidable.. unless we extend, or offer to pay a huge chunk of it to ANY team that wants him..

The next six players on the salary totem pole account for ~48 million dollars in cap.

Theilen, cook, Hunter, Kendrick, Harrison Smith and pierce..

Kendrick’s is the only one I feel has played his contract value.

His cap hit is 5.6 million, his dead is 7.5 million.

That’s where we are..

~ 42% or 90+ million in cap, tied up in 7 total players..

**** Spielman all to hell..

in 2022 kendricks cap hit is $13.5mm...his dead cap is $5.9mm....

I'm in the trade cousins camp, but i also understand the people that want to keep him for the 2022 season...maybe o'connell can turn him around, turn the team around...all we need is a Center, maybe a guard, and a CB...maybe we can make a run next season....

do the following and we'll have enough cap space to contend with cousins in 2022:

add void years thing with cousins....

redo hunter, theilen, smith, kendricks...let go pierce and ham....

sign free agent center, guard, cb....

draft cb, wr, cb....

if the above doesn't work out we can fire theilen, smith, kendricks, and cook next year to clear some cap space for a rebuild....
yea I was looking at dead… not cap#..

But it’s still insane how much cap is tied into so few other players, outside of Cousins..

Insanely bad money management.

Meanwhile Spielman is kicking back on vacation drinking umbrella drinks muttering at the outdoor bar that his wise trade downs gave the team ALL KINDS of opportunities and players, and that he even set the record for most draft picks in a modern era season!

I need to lower my expectations.

I keep looking at CBSsportsline several times a day, excited and hopeful that Cousins has been traded.

I would be happy with getting a 2nd rounder for Kirk, at this point.

It's "damn it" because every time I see a QB traded I'm disappointed that it wasn't Kirk. I literally post within seconds of reading the news.

The first roster move of the Kwesi Adofo-Mensah and Kevin O'Connell era has been made and it's a re-signing of DT T.Y. McGill, who was on the practice squad last season and got into two #Vikings games.

Hate to say it but I think Heinicke is better than Wentz.

Washington has gone thru a ton of QBs....so maybe they need both?

28.8 for Wentz and 2.8 for Heinicke and just under 15% of total cap.

But if we want to go QB, that's one less team in the way. Plus the above says 'The Commanders are stocked with talent on defense' so that might help if we are looking at CB or DL.

Those are interesting numbers. People keep saying no team is going to sign Cousins and his $35 mil price tag, yet the Commanders are now paying a worse QB only 6 mil less. Keeps hope alive that the Vikes can get a deal done that ships Kirk out of town.

Is KOC going to have the biggest staff.

Hired some assistant to the HC today.

There's already an assistant HC.

This guy also has tags of special projects/assistant shoe tier.

There's a qb coach and an assistant.
OL coach and assistant.
Several LB coaches...

Colts should totally give us a call.

We get their newly acquired 2nd and 3rd.

We give them Cousins and the $ difference between what Kirk is getting and what Wentz would have cost.

A net zero cost move for them.

Fun fact: The Colts traded away Wentz before the draft pick(s) they sent to Philly to acquire him have even been used.

Early 2000's Beap Chastard refused to hire a new OL coach after promoting the previous season OL coach (Steve Loney?) to OC.

Rick Sosa@sosarick
Indianapolis making a push for Kirk Cousins and Jimmy Garappolo #NFL

Ben Leber@nacholeber
Garoppolo is likely the next QB to be dealt but I wouldn’t be surprised if the Niners hold onto him.
Rumors at the Combine is Lance isn’t ready and Jimmy G gives them the best chance in ‘22.

Rick Sosa@sosarick
I would trade Kirk Cousins to the Indianapolis Colts in exchange for Quenton Nelson, DeForest Buckner, Andrew Sendejo, their 2nd 2022 and 1st 2023 #Vikings

Rick Sosa@sosarick
If Adam Thielen gets traded the Kwesi/KOC honeymoon in Minnesota would be over real fast #Vikings

Rick Sosa@sosarick
I think we should trade the second best QB in the NFC.. for some unknown players out of college.. that sounds like a fantastic idea #Vikings

cousins would probably be more conducive to playing for shanahan than anyone with the colts....

make it happen kwesi....
