maybe o'connell can work a minor miracle with cousins and our offense is top five...could happen....

draft a wr and cb with our first two picks - maybe trade back #12 a little for another cb...two cb's, and a top wr....

we still draft a QB in 2023....

If we keep Thielen a WR is not a priority for the first few rounds. CB's and DE's a C or G depending on we get in FA are the top priorities.

I'm thinking we'll need a young, cheap, very good wr in 2023...so, he can work his way up the ladder in 2022....

jefferson is going to want to get paid next year...yes, after three seasons...forget about a 4th season and then a 5th-year option - he is not going for that...now, we can keep the cap hit under control for a couple of seasons, but he's getting a fat signing bonus next year....

i think we need to think ahead and have another young wr under our wing....

plus, we might sell the farm for a 2023 qb....

restructure smith...get rid of barr

zadarius smith along with drafting jordan davis will ease my mind.

Hunter and smith coming at qb sounds good to me...ok add hicks as well, pierce gone.

Kwesi is not an upgrade at GM. So disappointing.

Extend Cousins was the worst possible option. I'd rather have Zimmer and RS with a new QB than this.

We are not going the the Super Bowl in the next 2 years so I'll be watching Viking pre season Viking football for 2 seasons. Maybe we make the playoffs 1 out of the next 2 years with 7 teams making it.

Wake me up in 2024.

I can't remember ever being this down on the team.

Bye

Where are you going? To the Super Bowl with Kirk?

Good thing we have enough cap room and draft picks to fix the defense and offensive line now that we have our Super Bowl QB under wraps for 2 years.

We'll see. I'm skeptical to say the least but will happily eat crow IF we win a Super in the next 2 years.

Otherwise it was a huge opportunity missed to get something back for a QB who will never win the big one and gotten paid like he's a first ballot HOFer.

Actually if Hunter is healthy and they convert his bonus, sign Hicks, cut Pierce and use his money on Peterson or another CB. Then restructure Thielen and Smith for the Scherff...

Fill other needs in draft. Draft a CB in the 1st.

Did you think we were going to the Superbowl in the next 2 years if we traded Cousins? I was rooting for a trade of Cousins because I don't think he's a winner. But starting a rookie QB, or Mond, or a bridge QB in 2022 wasn't getting us to the Superbowl. Spielman left this team in a rough spot. Terrible defense, holes on the oline and 16 mil over the cap. That's not something that gets fixed in one or two years, with or without Cousins on the books. However, if Kwesi plays this right, the Vikings could compete for the Superbowl in 2024.

I was fully ready to embrace a rebuild. Seems KOC and KAM were hired simply because each told the Wilf's what they wanted to hear.

This roster is not good and the core players are old and extremely over paid. I can't get behind a QB that throws the ball OOB's on a hail mary or into the stands on fourth and goal because he's too concerned about his stats and his next contract.

The Minnesota Vikings just informed me they are tendering my Restricted Free Agent kicker Greg Joseph. Led the NFL in touchback percentage last season and got better and better as the year went on.

No, I don't think win a Super Bowl next year regardless of QB, which is why I don't want a lot cap space tied into the position. Instead, free up money for young free agents that can contribute for years and draft picks for the future.

We'd have a better chance in 2023 and the years after. It's about gaining assets for the future.

I don't want to settle for good, I want to swing for great. We may miss but let's not be afraid to try.

I would agree with you if Kirk's number was 45 in 22 and 50 in 23.....31 & 36 give us room to build a contending team and stay under that 15%.

I thought Kirk was going to stick us like Arodg did the Pack 4/200 and 46 million cap next year. Instead Kirk's cap now 31 and 36 next year. Convert Hunters Roster bonus and we have enough to do something before even talking any cuts or any other restructure/trade.

The biggest reason you bottom out is for a chance at a QBOTF. We can still make a move for one with Cousins on the roster.

I get the point about having cap room for young FAs. But, how many of them hit the market or aren't swallowed up by teams with huge cap room?

Last year we supposedly didn't have cap room....we signed two pretty big FA in Tomlinson and Peterson and three smaller ones in Richardson, Woods, and Vigil. That was with 15-18 Million in Cap room after a few restructures.

Plus Adams says he won't play on franchise tag.

He will demand highest WR deal in history. I'm thinking 30M per year(Hopkins gets 27.5). 75M guaranteed.

Thank you Jordan Love for being a stiff.

Right, I think Osborn and Smith Marsette are at least decent and can be better. WR is not one of my concerns this year. I could draft one in the late rounds if the value is there but not my top 3 picks.

KWEVIN (Kwesi-Kevin) RosterTear-Down Plan #2:

Try and trade Thielen. Trade Cook. Restructure Hunter (move money, not extend). Restructure Kendricks (move money, add a year to reduce cap). Release Pierce, Smith (Thielen if not traded) after June 1.

Resign Berry, Joseph.

FA First Wave: Top 30 FA - CB Darrious Williams [28, Rams], Top 60 FA - C Brian Allen (26, Rams]
FA Second to Third Wave: Slot CB Bryce Callahan [30, Broncos], S Kareem Jackson [33, Broncos], LB A.J. Johnson [30, Broncos]

Draft #1 DT Jordan Davis, #2 S Hill, #3a QB Carson 'Killer Instinct' Strong, #3b G Tyler Smith (Cook/Thielen trades)

Once Pierce and Smith clear, add WR, CB, C, OT vet castoffs

Cousins, Mattison, JJ, Osborn, ISM, Smith, Darrisaw, Cleveland, Allen (FA), Davis / Smith (D), O'Neill
Hunter, Davis (D), Tomlinson, Wonnum, Kendricks, Johnson (FA), Williams (FA), Callahan (FA), Dantzler, Jackson (FA), Hill (D)

That's a whopping 5 possible starters, two on full-commitment contracts and three on shorter hole-filler 1-2 yr contracts ... out of Free agency,
That's a whopping three possible starters plus a #2-3 QB ... out of the draft

We spin it around hard and go 9-8 in 2022 – woohoo – we kick Packers out of the playoffs before losing 54-12 to the Rams, and then prepare for our full-throttle, bloody 10-7 quick playoff exit campaign of 2023.

THEN the league is ours.

I think Thielen and Hunter re-structures could easily get us to 20M under. I guess you can kick those cans down the road till Kirk is gone, then it won't be that big of a disaster. Plus cap supposedly going to go up significantly.

Do you make a big move like Scherff or do we have too many holes to go for a high priced FA?

We spin it around hard and go 9-8 in 2022 – woohoo – we kick Packers out of the playoffs before losing 54-12 to the Rams, and then prepare for our full-throttle, bloody 10-7 quick playoff exit campaign of 2023.

THEN the league is ours.

Not bad.

Except that I heard Speilman went and scouted Strong pretty hard. That is a red flag.

KWEVIN (Kwesi-Kevin) RosterTear-Down Plan #2:

Try and trade Thielen. Trade Cook. Restructure Hunter (move money, not extend). Restructure Kendricks (move money, add a year to reduce cap). Release Pierce, Smith (Thielen if not traded) after June 1.

Resign Berry, Joseph.

FA First Wave: Top 30 FA - CB Darrious Williams [28, Rams], Top 60 FA - C Brian Allen (26, Rams]
FA Second to Third Wave: Slot CB Bryce Callahan [30, Broncos], S Kareem Jackson [33, Broncos], LB A.J. Johnson [30, Broncos]

Draft #1 DT Jordan Davis, #2 S Hill, #3a QB Carson 'Killer Instinct' Strong, #3b G Tyler Smith (Cook/Thielen trades)

Once Pierce and Smith clear, add WR, CB, C, OT vet castoffs

Cousins, Mattison, JJ, Osborn, ISM, Smith, Darrisaw, Cleveland, Allen (FA), Davis / Smith (D), O'Neill
Hunter, Davis (D), Tomlinson, Wonnum, Kendricks, Johnson (FA), Williams (FA), Callahan (FA), Dantzler, Jackson (FA), Hill (D)

I didn't know that.

But consider this ... shifty Spielman never actually looks at, much less scouts, the players he intends on drafting. He's diabolically clever in that way. So this could actually be a huge endorsement for Strong.

KWEVIN keeps Strong in 'The Plan'.

maybe o'connell can work a minor miracle with cousins and our offense is top five...could happen....

draft a wr and cb with our first two picks - maybe trade back #12 a little for another cb...two cb's, and a top wr....

we still draft a QB in 2023....

The Cousins deal is disappointing but not surprising, and I can see why the team did it. If Kwesi upgrades the oline with at least one legit FA guard, and ideally a FA center, then I'm going to feel better about our new GM.

He MUST. The interior of the OL has to be upgraded. Hopefully he can get it right.

DT Michael Pierce said by text regarding the #Vikings coming to him about reworking his contract: "That is correct and I've made decision. You should be hearing the news... soon."

Sounds like some clarity could be coming soon on #Vikings DT Michael Pierce. There has been speculation that he won't return to the Vikings under his current contract, which has a base salary of $7.9 million for 2022 with a cap number of $10.235 million.
