Honeymoon going to be real short if 2022 is a dud with another Cousins year in 2023.

I don't like it but I really believe Cousins was untradeable this year, thank you Spielman.

Cousins at 30M for two seasons would have been decent for a new regime with few options ... 40M and 30M with 10M dead money after is not terrible for IMO a no win situation. But ONLY if we draft and/or trade for someone this year or next to compete with Mond for future starter.

Cousins at 30M next year with somebody nipping at his heels (not Egyptians) will feel a lot less terrible ... especially if the roster as a shole is course correcting.

It's done. Time to move forward with the known evil.

You figure we'll look at the best QB to fall to us in the 2nd round?

That I don't like at all.

It was probably a this or nothing deal.

Didn't hear about any teams lining up for Cousins ... so I assume there was little to no option.

Kwesi has a lot of work to do to improve on Spielman's low standard.

Glad they're not risking it all on Watson.

I'm just going to go with Kwesi was just doing his job making a phone call.

So they took the middling no-mans land approach.

True, we don't know whether there were any takers or what any terms were.

No one was going to trade for Kirk unless they could agree to an extension in advance. All Kirk had to do is say he would only negotiate with teams of his choosing, so he really had a de facto no trade clause built into his deal anyway. Not much has changed.

Agreed. I don’t like Cousins but having him count $31 mil against the cap versus $45 makes it more palatable to keep him.

Yeah they've probably stretched it into the voidable years (?). Millions in dead cap that will still make us less competitive down the road.

On one side you've got Cousins and his agent, ruthless masters at extracting crazy contracts. On the other side you've got Kwesi, a newbie, consensus builder, and collaboration seeker.

I figure where we pick in the second round might still be a better prospect than Mond ... on paper at least. We'll see.

By my estimation, we have a ventriloquist dummy for two years ... he'll only be as good as O'Connell is as a OC. That's two offseasons, two drafts [and one big long shot on the roster] to magically produce an autonomous athletic free-thinking pocket-savy diabolically-competitive HOF stud. No problemo.

If we are just rolling indefinitely with Cousins / Mond ... 'the outlook is pain'.

Yeah he is still getting his and then some.

I was okay with one year of softening the 45M big hairy kidney blockage ... by pushing dead money to 2023 ... just to make it pass a little easier.

That its bigger than I hoped for, one more year of Cousins guaranteed and two years of dead money past that ... yes it hurts plenty but its not a baseball-sized full-on commitment either.

I don't know. I'm a lot less excited now about 2022 and the new regime than I was last week. We'll see how it goes I guess.

With Brady returning to the Bucs, is SF a landing spot for Kirk ?

They don't seem to think Lance is ready, and may let go of Jimmy G.

Uh ... sure Marty ...

KC is as good as gone.

No stinkin' extension or no trade clause is going to dampen your swerve.

I didn't see the extension, along with the no trade clause until later.

I am quite surprised, I have severely overestimated KAM and KOC.

They're going down in flames in 2 years, which is sad, as I had high hopes for KOC.

Well that is not what I had hoped for, but it is what is. The new regime is attached to Cousins now. We still need a center or Cousins will be under duress all season again

I don’t think the new admin is tied to Kirk. I think they’d get more than 2 years. Maybe there were no worthwhile trade offers. Who knows?

I am still excited about KOC.

Is it possible the Vikes got it wrong with KAM, but got it right with KOC ?

The last time Kirk Cousins played football without a full guarantee on his entire salary was 2015.

Fully guaranteed franchise tag in 2016 and 2017 ($43.896M). Fully guaranteed salaries in 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and now 2023 ($185M).

Our franchise sucks ...
