On paper our D should be greatly improved if it is we can go far. If it isn't another .500 or so season. Kirk will play well like he always does. How far we go this year is way more on the D than anything Captain Kirk is going to do.

I object to the name Captain Kirk being associated with such a person.

You're objection is noted. It kind of reminds me of the Star Trek episode where Kirk was on trial for taking the disabled captain to that one planet where he felt he could retire in happiness.

He's always been Captain Kirk to me.

Um. SPOCK was on trial in that episode. KIRK was one of the presiding officials..

Oops. Well it was a legal/court episode. I originally had IIRC somewhere in that comment, but reworded it and the IIRC dropped out. Yes you have jogged my memory. Thank you.

I want to get something out in the open regarding Kirk that I haven't seen discussed. I think a lot of people's problem with him is personality and who he is rather than the player. He is the clean cut wholesome Christian and is very representative of suburban White America (minus any racism connotations of that). He has a ridiculous amount of money yet chooses to drive a nice, but very boring van. I don't think he has any bling or tats. JJ said he doesn't have the "SWAG" of Burroughs. He will never culturally fit in with most of the rest of the league. He plays well and has helped his WRs put up big numbers. Hopefully his teammates appreciate and respect him even though he isn't one of the boys.

Oh please.. can you NOT Inject your religious beliefs and defense of Christianity, into Every SINGLE THING.?

Myself and others do not like Kirk cousins because he can not win important games or lead his team to touchdowns, when it matters most.

His leadership is too low key, his interest in football is about money, his playing style is robotic and safety first.

It is his personality that refuses to embrace greatness, outside of proselytizing himself and his personal beliefs to everyone.

I can’t wait to be rid of him as our Quarteback, because he is mediocre at best.

Bottom line is he has 0 excuses. Similar to Stafford last year. True Off Cord/HC and this is the best team he has been on.

This we know, how?

Kirk might not be a card carrying member of the nerd union, but for a Parody I think this does show how he fits in culturally with the rest of the NFL.
Notice Donny Osmond in the background. The musical equivalent of Kirk.

Somebody needs to make a parody of this parody featuring Kirk and his Van. I don't have the skillz.

You can't make this stuff up. He called his old gray van The Gray Ghost. Somebody hit him and totaled it. He bought a new white van and posted on Instagram about Gandalf the White.

Yes a Lord of the Rings quote featuring Gandalf.

They automatically ranked all 5 rookie HCs last and had KOC the last of them.

I know. Talk about lazy. Who knows how good any of these rookie coaches are but I guarantee they won't all be considered bottom 5 by years end.

I wonder what the track record is recently for rookie HCs ?

I think KOC will do well, and Hackett should also do very well. And Miami could very well be a surprise team.

"In year one as a head coach with a new team, the rookie first-time head coach is 41.7% more likely to make the playoffs that season than the new head coach with previous head coaching experience".

But yet the football "nerds" think all 5 are bottom 5. Like I said completely lazy take. At least take a chance.

It’s because, most of the time, coaches are fired for 1 of 2 reasons.

1. Shit roster, which we don’t have
2. Shit QB, which we don’t have

KOC has a pretty good staff and enough talent to win. If we aren’t, at least, an 8 win team….a lot of us will be asking questions. This assumes normal injury woe’s.

The coach rating means nothing. I think KOC was exactly what this Vikings team needs. A newer, fresher approach. I liked Zim a lot when he first came in. Still do. But it was time for a change.

Could KOC end up being Les Steckel II? Sure. That’s always the risk with first time coaches. You never know how they will react in a situation they’ve never faced before. But there’s high reward too. A young coach with modern ideas, no link to the past, and a burning desire to prove himself sounds good to me.

And I’ll say another thing. I’m more than ready for a shiny new offense. Out with the boring old predictable. In with some innovation. I don’t know what the current odds are, but Kirk Cousins for MVP is not a bad value bet. He has the smarts and passing ability to execute a Rams style offense at least as effectively as Matthew Stafford did.
