Well their defense is gonna suck

You never know. If the rest of the conference runs a single wing offense, they could be downright dominant.

RE: the double penalty on Booth. I've seen 2 penalties on the same guy a bunch but they enforced both Didn't even know that was a thing.

Didn't see the game. Was one of them a dead ball penalty?

I guess it had to have been but I clearly missed that if it was mentioned. I don't think it was though. No big deal. You can tell we're learning. There was a lot of contact penalties by the D. Hopefully they clean that up.

Maybe we are going to play Packer style and commit PI on every playing knowing they won't call them all.
As for the 2 calls, I thought the ref said it was PI, and unsportsmanlike conduct at the end of the play so it was tacked on after the PI.

re: at the end of the play

- I think it has to be "after" to tack on another set of penalized yards

Yes, dead ball foul.

Yup, bad verbiage on my part....

Day one: Turn off all the TVs in the facility
Day two: Scowl at people
Day three: Tell every player that isn't a senior that they won't be playing in any games
Day four: Shred 3/4's of the passing plays in the playbook
Day five: Scowl at people

I hope Zim does well in his new job, I have nothing against him. He came here and did a pretty good job early on but things went south and I believe he and the GM went in different directions.
I blame Spielman just as much for allowing it to get that way or not being able to correct it. Zim was old school and did it his way. star athletes are often like little children now days.

He will be in a different role now and maybe that suits him better. He's not the boss and can focus on what he does well. Sanders may even show him a few things about working with young adults that he might look at things differently.
Either way, the Vikes were a mess when he came here. I wish him well

Great move for everyone. Deion loves Zim, Zim gets to coach fundamentals, and the players get to learn.

he did well, until he didnt

like many Viking decisions, we are a couple years too late

hoping the new regime can be more proactive instead of reactive

Yep and that lovefest between Deion and Zimm will be toast, in short order. (IMO)

From a 49ers article, talking about scrimmaging with the Vikings:

"The 49ers were missing three-quarters of their starting secondary -- Jimmie Ward, Charvarius Ward and Emmanuel Moseley -- and so they gave up 14 catches on 21 pass attempts to Kirk Cousins, who looked better than I've ever seen him. He must be one heck of a practice player, because he's not exactly a gamer."

Or, maybe Cousins is gearing up for his best season ?

I liked the good things said about Zim.
He lost me too but that doesn't mean I have to keep hating on him for it.
Slick Rick kind of snuck off with out taking it in the shorts too bad - sometimes it's all about personalities

Oh my!!
I think it's the first time I've ever heard of making excuses, in not even a preseason game, but a freekin' scrimmage!!

Talk about bias reaching new heights

I really liked Zim

But he was a terrible HC

If you want longevity you have to keep everyone buying in. Pete Carrol has done it but Zim flat out threw in the towel. The fact that the Wilf's ext both Zim and Rick really exposed them as complete idiots in my eyes.

Personality-wise, Zimmer reminded me of the new coach Notre Dame brought in prior to Rudy's last season in the movie Rudy. Game-strategy-wise, I'll forever remember him as the guy that would only rush four (or sometimes three) on the most crucial third and fourth downs of his career. The play where Willie Snead caught a ball for a first down after Drew Brees had two hours to wait for a receiver to get open on the series just before the Minneapolis Miracle. The players will likely remember him as the guy that wouldn't even acknowledge them if they walked past each other in a hallway. You know, those entitled, overpaid, baby, pro athletes that thought their coach should say 'hi' every once in a while. Zimmer was garbage.

I don't HATE Cousins.

But I don't like him as an option to lead us to the most elusive promised land I have been searching my whole lifetime...a Superbowl Championship.

He piles up the stats. But in crunch time, when the great's games elevate, his stays stagnant. When we need the great leader, he's absent. in big games he tends to disappear or play exceptionally average.

But we are stuck with him. Nobody is taking that job from him. at least not this year, and probably not next year either. So I will hope for the best, but in the years he's been here, I've never seen a QB that can lead us to where we all want to go.

So Cousins the person, not really a problem with him. I'm sure he's a swell guy....but as a QB, He lacks that hard to define "it" factor.

We pay the big money for someone to take us to promised land. He's going to be a target.

He joins a list of guys who have disappointed. Culpepper, Herschel Walker, Tarkenton(to a certain extent)
