Jim Harbaugh is in “serious talks” with Minnesota for the open head coach position. The belief is Harbaugh will interview with Minnesota on Wednesday, with the hope of a contract offer.

Interesting. Adam Schefter just a little while ago reported they've barely said hello to each other.

@AdamSchefter
on the #Vikings HC search + Jim Harbaugh: "They've talked. I think the Vikings are focused on other areas, they're flying out to California to interview both of the Rams coordinators ... I don't sense there's anything close with Harbaugh/Vikings at this time..."

Jim Harbaugh conveyed legitimate interest in the Vikings' head-coaching job during his interview with the team, per source, with Minnesota coming away feeling Harbaugh is ready for a return to the NFL. As of now, he's still considered in the mix for that job.

Geez, my friend, let's hope. Harbaugh would be the best of the available coaches on the market right now. And, he's a proven commodity.

I don’t really want Harbaugh.. TBH..

But I have Zero control..

What I want to see is an explosive offense.

Defense can be middle of the road, ..

We have way too much cap tied up in aging Vets..

We tied up a lot of money on defense, to be rated this badly.

They are 27th against the run, 25th in pass defense, and 25th in points allowed, and 27th in total yards allowed.Dec 18, 2021

You're right, Dan. There's a lot to be sorted out. But, I think Harbaugh could sort through the playbook and figure out what works for our personnel that we have on the roster right now and make it work. Plus, he knows a lot of NFL guys that could kick advice his way, and he already has a relationship with our new gm. It's a good start.

Of all of the names that have surfaced, Harbaugh is my least favorite. I absolutely cannot root for a team with Harbaugh as the coach.

First off, the guy is just freakin weird. I don't want a weirdo coaching the Vikings. Harbaugh is the quintessential rah rah guy. Can't do it.

Why would the Vikings want to hire a guy that never seems comfortable in one spot for more than three years?

The #Vikings plan to fly in Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh for an interview Wednesday in Minnesota, per sources.

The sides spoke Saturday to gauge Harbaugh’s interest in the head coaching job. Now, another big step towards Harbaugh potentially returning to the NFL.

I still don't understand why Graham got a first interview let alone a second.

A bit surprising to see Ryans tap out.

Rooney Rule?

With the rule expanded to require two (in person) minority candidates, and with Ryans dropping out, Morris would be our only in-person minority interview.

That’s my point. Ryans’ declining the in person interview doesn’t satisfy the rule. Bringing Graham in, does.

Phil Mackeys list

My updated Vikings head coach wishlist:

1.) Jim Harbaugh
2.) Raheem Morris
3.) Doug Pederson
4.) DeMeco Ryans

He is also ok with Rams OC

If Jim Harbaugh becomes the coach, I may have to consider rooting for a different team moving forward. Can't stand the guy. A hiring of Harbaugh would be a sign that our new GM doesn't know how to check the temperature in the room. Harbaugh is a Michigan guy. Nobody hates a Michigan guy any more than a Gopher fan base.

In addition, Harbaugh is one of the guys that almost never lasts more than five years anywhere he goes. Partly because everyone within any organization hates him within 12 months. He rubs people the wrong way the same way Lane Kiffin rubs people the wrong way.

Harbaugh is a non-starter for me. I'd hire Kiffin before Harbaugh.

I hate Jim Harbaugh.

I think he’d be the best choice for coach if he’s available.

I can easily put aside my dislike of his personality if the Vikings achieve greatness under him. Yes even though the over/under on his tenure here would be about 3-4 seasons. I still don’t care. That’s about the average tenure of a coach anyway. Good or bad. The ones who become fixtures are very few.

Bring him on.

Why, specifically, do you like Jim Harbaugh? Coaching style? Is he a good X's and O's guy? The only innovative thing I ever saw him do was let Colin Kaepernick run wild for a year. 12 months later, Harbaugh missed the playoffs and his tenure in SF was done.

Yet his career winning percentage is 0.690. Not a one-year wonder. He's a good coach.

I am either misreading it or the Rule expanded after Oct 2021? Not sure.

Two minority candidate interviews, one in-person.

That's my understanding too. Both interviews in LA were second interviews. Graham and Harbaugh will bring it to a total of four second interviews. This goes beyond the Rooney rule. Word is the Vikings were genuinely impressed with Graham.
