I have no doubt Harbaugh wanted the job. I also think that he was surprised to find out that the Vikings expected him to prove that he was the best candidate. He said point blank that the Vikings were not as enthusiastic about him as he was about the Vikings. Can't prove it, but something tells me that Harbaugh came in here thinking the job was his for the taking. Just have a feeling that he was expecting the Vikings to not offer him the job, but to make him first among equals with Adofo-Mensah. That didn't happen and the money became moot. Like I said, I have no proof of this. Just a gut feeling.

It's nice to see it phrased as an opinion and not a fact ...

The fact is, he isn't our head coach. Everything previous to the naming of a coach was opinion. It just so happens that some opinions were right, and some were wrong.

I just can't figure out if you are spreading FUD about the individual or FUD about the Vikings. Maybe both?

I have seen very few positive Vikings posts from you since the Bucs were eliminated from the playoffs.....are you sure you are a Vikings fan?

Vikings expected to hire Broncos running backs coach Curtis Modkins as their run-game coordinator/RBs coach, per source. Denver’s running game was stout last year. @mikeklis reported earlier that Modkins was leaning this way.

Modkins was the offensive coordinator for the 49ers in 2016, when Kevin O'Connell was an assistant coach and Kwesi Adofo-Mensah was working in analytics.

He's been an RB coach or OC in the NFL since 2008. Former standout TCU RB who coached at the college level from 1995-2007.

The first names connected to the Vikings’ DC vacancy are emerging:

- Lions DBs coach/PGC Aubrey Pleasant (via @TomPelissero)
- Ravens DL coach/RGC Anthony Weaver (@MikeGarafolo)
- Former Ravens DC Wink Martindale (@jeffzrebiec)

Pleasant and Weaver worked with KOC in LA.

So Phil Rauscher isn't headed to the Bills after all. He could end up sticking around in Minnesota, since he and Kevin O'Connell are familiar with each other from their time in Washington

If we hire Wink Martindale,
who will do the Game Shows?

O'Connell surrounding himself with veteran coaches, with tons of experience and who are also more likely to stay in place, is a smart move for the young, first time head coach.

If he does in fact get the job. I’m pumped. Only 35 years old. He coaches guys up, and will keep you accountable!

Rick Sosa is a guy on his couch. This all may come to pass, along with his other extremely authoritative declarations, but this could be any of us talking out of our asses just like he is.

It would seem hard to get excited about anything that was Lions.

Pleasant doesn't sound like a good defense name. Something tougher, like something that sounds like 'fangs', like Fangio.

It seems like Pleasant is the guy. But, we’ll have to wait until after the Super Bowl to know for sure. Regardless, it looks like our coaching staff will be young, that’s for sure.

On one hand, it's a little frustrating watching Poles choose Chicago over the Vikes, Ryans bow out of the running, Jacksonville sign Pederson and then to see us bring in Harbaugh, only to reject him. I'm questioning a little how great a gig this is as viewed from outside our cheer section. On the other I'm kind of excited to see what KAM and KO can do to repair our culture and get us back into modern football. Assuming KFC is still here, maybe, just maybe, this infusion of youthful creativity can inspire Kirk to be a little less risk adverse and a little more patient waiting on developing routes to really get our mojo flowing next year. I'm also looking forward to a competent or at least intriguing back-up QB, whether that's Mond, a draft pick or a veteran QB not named Mannion.

In any case, I hope we get a good mix of motivators, player developers and Xs and Os folks to round out the staff. I'd love a couple years of Fangio or Phillips to train up some younger assistants, but maybe those youngins are already ready.

I don’t want to know what anyone has to say about coaching choices, but the head coach, who we don’t have, yet.

Maybe if KAM came out and said someone was a front runner, I might care..

Twitiots, not so much..

No matter who it is.. my only hope it’s not a run first based offense and a get a lead, play a MOAP defense.
