I was about to post that not drafting CB Booth would make two mistakes out three selections for Kwesi but I guess he has an injury history going back to high school and this:

"It's notable that Booth suffered a strained quad while training for the NFL Scouting Combine and was unable to compete. Therefore we don't have concrete measurables to compare to the rest of the class. It's also notable that he got sports hernia surgery at the end of March."

Not that Kwesi is in the least bit injury risk averse.

can't remember who it was, maybe Steve Smith on NFLN, was saying the big red flags for injury are the recurrent soft tissue injuries, (like hamstrings, quads, hernias...)

I bet Booth isn't on our radar here as it sounds like those are exactly the types of things he's dealt with

Was going to suggest all the more reason for Woodshed to trade down 20 spots, but we don't have a 4th to sweeten the deal with.

It feels like the Vikes have another 1st round pick with this pick being so close to the 1st round. And the 3rd round pick feels similar, feels like it's a 2nd round pick.

So it feels like the Vikes got 2 1st round picks and a 2nd.

I HATED the trade at first, but am coming around to really liking it.

Listening to Common on KFAN. He had a guy on with NBC sports, locally based. Don’t know who he is but he brings up an interesting point. This draft is weaker on top, but unusually deep, due too Covid and other factors.

That’s probably what drove Kwesi to the trade. Trade charts that are static from year to year assigning a set value to each spot and don’t take into account the makeup of a draft said Vikings lost the trade. But a system that factors in the characteristics of a particular draft may tell a different story.

How did COVID and other factors make the draft weaker on top?

The Covid story doesn't make a lot of sense to me, either. (at the top of the draft)

But the dearth of QB prospects meant that other players will run out faster.

And it looks like one of those years without a lot of standouts. The #8 guy went #1. #6 #7 went #3 and #4. And #2 went #7. The #4 guy went at #14. That tells you it was pretty flat up top.

If the Vikes don't trade their next pick, it's possible they trade back up into the 2nd round, getting 2 2nd rounders.

Maybe Kwesi DOES have concerns about injury, and that may be the reason he passed on Williams.

I was concerned that Williams will be injury prone, and I think he will get injured a lot in Detroit.

The one immutable fact I know: Detroit will find a way to screw up.

Certainly no consensus #1 but pretty good balance of high tier players out to about mid-round. Tackles, Edge, CBs, WRs...

With both Packer picks also from Goergia, might they mistakenly be cheering when they see Cine intercept Rodgers for a game winner ?

Brad makes a valid point about Cine's size being a little small. Not good to have a player that is a little under-sized that likes to hit, an injury waiting to happen.

Hopefully Cine continues to be a smart tackler as a pro.

Wait — are you still trying the "facts" approach?

Nevermind that he's a pretty typical weight for a high-end safety. The real problem is he's 199, and not 200. That'd sound so much bigger.

It's why I always buy the Ronco knives for $19.95.

Marty was posting nothing of interest, including some vague packers junk, so he went trolling.

I bet Williams allowed himself to get hurt so he wouldn't face the pressure of being a Top 5 pick.

Thanks, David. The kid will be just fine in the pros. He’s a great sideline to sideline guy, and he can play safety and slot. If he gains 5-10 pounds with a good weight program, all the better.

But then he'll be slow, inflexible and his legs will give out before his first contract is done...

Fans do this every draft no matter how bad their team screws it up. You hear all the great stuff about the picks and all the reasons the moves were good and talk yourself into it. I've done it myself many times.

Disclaimer: I am NOT advocating this. Just speculating.

I said it yesterday and it’s seeming even more likely to me now. I think the Vikings may be targeting Willis at 34.

He's not undersized. 6'2.25" and 199 is almost ideal size. However, Brad has assured me he's actually 6'0.5" no matter what his combine measurement says.

Cool with LB Dean, TE McBride, CB Booth (inj?), Edge Mafe, WR Moore, Edge Ojabo, CB McCreary, CB Gordon, or a 320+ G that can play C.

Trade down a bit then up and get a couple of 2nd round picks.

I like the Cini pick.

Sounds like he's got a game similar to Jamaal Adams.

But I also read on a pre draft bio that he sometimes doesn't play under control which immediately reminded me of Andrew Sandejo.

Gordon and McCreary will be available with our pick. Willis might. E there, too, but I like the idea of building a bulletproof defense right now. Take the best corner on the board.

Jamaal Adams now. As mentioned the other day, we'll soon like/love all the picks. Some will love them sooner. And when the preseason, uh the exhibition, games hit some will be bonkers over the picks.

Nonetheless, Cine better start on day one.
