Merry Christmas to all here !!

So with Pack still potentially making the Wild Card last spot, do we play next weekend to win and kick them out or coast and let them in that spot to potentially face them in first round in our house?

Back to three receivers only

Reagor proved he's unplayable at wr. I keep waiting for him to muff a punt.

Merry Christmas to my fellow Vikes fans! Have been lurking on occasion and am always entertained by opinions here; never have experienced a season like this one--not with any team, any sport. This team appears to genuinely enjoy each other's company win or lose. Gotta believe the HMIC sets that tone. Skol!

I think the Vikes clearly want to win regardless of who the opponent is in order to protect the #2 seed.

If it's all hypothetical, coasting to maybe let them in would be crazy IMO... with any division rival.

Plus Vikes are very much alive for #1, especially if Philly loses to NO. And if NYG and Wash both win (likely), then our beating GB would knock them OUT!

That said, our only win that is not by one possession is the first GB- MN game. I'm ready for a repeat of that for everyone's health.

IF the Vikings beat the Puke, it's most likely by one score. Just like with Miami, GB needs the game a lot more.

The Giants shouldn't struggle with the Colts, but Nick Foles could make the game close.

Washington could easily struggle with Cleveland.

Cleveland just lost at HOME to the Saints. I understand your reverse jinx but both Wash and NYG should win. This week they both had tough road games against top teams. This week they have the opposite, easy home games against bad teams.

Also, I should mention that Cleveland is now eliminated.

I have to admit to thinking ahead since we've won a lot of wacky ways already this season...what's next up? Blocking a FG to tie? Maybe causing Rodgers to fumble that Z recovers? a Harry the Hitman special?

Worth noting that Watson was injured today and did not return.

Maybe Kirk fumbles, and Ingram picks up the loose ball to score the game winner ?

After the Puke/Dolphin game, my guess is the GB will also be the preferred winner again next week, so they will get the benefit of calls and no calls in the final 10 minutes of the game.

So they will try to kill Viking drives with calling holding on the OL (or hands to the face), and GB 2ndary defenders will get no calls, so they will be aggressive leading to INTs. The Vikings 2ndary will get flagged for anything ticky tacky, especially PP or Harry.

I am guessing the ref bias for the Puke will start with about 10 minutes left in the 4th quarter. So it's not so obvious, the refs will either make a few calls in the Vikings favor that look questionable in the first half, or maybe a fairly big one in the 3rd quarter. That way when they favor the Puke at the end, it will appear that they're just evening things out.

Yes, I think you should throw a deep pass on 3rd and 2, about 1 out of 4 times, not almost every single time.

David Dixon was available for pictures on Saturday at the bank.

My brother and I got a pic with him. I asked him since he played Australian rules football and ran with the football why didn’t they run a double reverse with him just once. He shrugged, smiled and said he did enjoy when they called screens. Can you imagine a cb with Dixon coming at him. Still a big guy.

A fumbled snap caused by Ingram stepping on Cousins foot again.

Even though it didn't work out against the Lions I think it's much better for our Psyche to be underdogs. To not have the majority of pundits behind us.

I think we need that chip.

I seldom ever get in to the Strib. Clicked on this article from Twitter. I'll post it 'cause I assume many others here never get an article to come up as well:

Startibune:

Kicker Greg Joseph has converted 20 straight attempts, none bigger than the franchise-record, 61-yard field goal that sealed the Vikings' 27-24 victory over the Giants on Saturday.

Joseph's kick split the uprights and sailed past the crossbar, leading to many opinions about how much farther back he could have been and still won the game.

"I've heard a bunch of different numbers," he said. "But I'll hold judgment until I see it."

A week after Joseph was hoisted onto his teammates' shoulder pads after a winning 40-yard field goal vs. the Colts, Joseph said he appreciated the trust coach Kevin O'Connell showed by letting him even try a 61-yarder — 5 yards longer than the previous high by both Joseph and any kicker in Vikings history.

"I knew I had the strength," Joseph said. "I just wanted to put a good foot to it to give myself the best chance."

Where was the closest yard marker O'Connell was targeting for a last-second field goal?

"Right about that line," O'Connell said.

Punter and holder Ryan Wright said there was no concern from the field goal team even though Joseph had only made two of seven attempts from beyond 50 yards before that kick.

"This kick goes way back to training camp," Wright said. "He's made multiple 61-yarders. There was no doubt in my mind he was going to make it."

Coaches were prepared just in case. The Giants positioned a returner near the end zone should Joseph's kick fall short. Right tackle Brian O'Neill was among those focused on making a possible tackle if the Giants returned a missed field goal.

"I was kind of running downfield and Greg started running the other way," O'Neill said. "So I was pretty out of breath by the time I caught up to him."

'Getting home'

After failing to get a sack at Detroit, the Vikings pass rush has come to life behind Danielle Hunter's resurgence. He has been credited with 3½ sacks in the past two games and has 10½ sacks this season, making him and fellow edge rusher Za'Darius Smith (10) the first pair of Vikings teammates with 10-plus sacks since Kevin Williams and Lance Johnstone in 2004.

Hunter said he could tell the pressure was getting to Giants quarterback Daniel Jones, who was sacked three times and took another three hits from Smith.

"Oh yeah," Hunter said. "They had a little bit of change in scheme. Everybody was doing their jobs and some of us were getting home."

Calling his shot

Cornerback Patrick Peterson smirked as he took umbrage to not being credited with his first sack since 2019 when he blitzed — for just the second time in 2022 — and got a hand on Jones, who was taken down by Hunter and nose tackle Khyiris Tonga. Hunter and Tonga were officially credited with a half-sack apiece.

"I am going to lobby for it," Peterson said. "I got to talk to Hunter. First of all, I should get the first half. Then they can split it equally after that."

Peterson said he called his shot on the fourth-quarter interception, which is his fourth of the season — a personal best since 2012 — and the 33rd of his NFL career.

"Daniel was trying me enough to where he was feeling a little comfortable," Peterson said, "and [I said] I'm going to go out and get a pick for us."

Etc.

. Cornerback Cameron Dantzler was held out due to a lingering ankle injury. Defensive tackle James Lynch reaggravated a shoulder injury. Center Garrett Bradbury was held out for a third straight game due to lower back tightness. Giants outside linebacker Azeez Ojulari exited with an ankle injury and did not return.

. Patriots safety Devin McCourty tied safety Harrison Smith for the most interceptions among active defenders on Saturday; McCourty's 34th career pick came against Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow in New England's loss.

. Wright was the NFL's last punter without a touchback before receiver Jalen Nailor accidentally knocked a third-quarter punt into the end zone. Gunners like Nailor have mostly helped keep Wright's kicks in the field of play. "That shows the resiliency of our punt coverage," Wright said. "Hopefully I won't get another one this year."

. Receiver Adam Thielen's first-quarter drop was his first of the season, according to Pro Football Focus.

I find myself wanting nothing more than the Packers to not make the playoffs. Gawd, what could punish a Viking fan more than to lose to GB in the first round?

Seeds 6, 7, 8, 9 lost - seed #10 wins -- ugh!

- I'm a sad creature to sit here and worry about GB, I know
- I guess the flip would be, How cool would it be to beat them in the first round?
