ORIGINAL: ronhextall Is there any analysis on best average pff for teams offensive and defensive average rankings and how that equates to W’s and L’s ? Sort of use it for predicting game outcomes? As the season progresses, IMO the correlation is better but only because as teams win, it's either somewhat natural or intentional to bump up the scores of players. Then there is a likely halo effect for perennial All-Pros. And like Zimmer said, it's very subjective because they don't know the play or assignments. And should a player get credit so to speak for plays where for example the D schemes to stop that player. Like Moss getting all kinds of coverage. Even if it was accurate, you'd have to account for injuries (both where a player was out or hampered (and the latter could be masked)), the opponent player, grass vs artificial turf, home v away, etc. Seems an average of the aggregate would be less accurate, i.e. you'd want to slice and dice the data. Who knows though.
